Back off my petal, I've been a driver of assessed standard (IAM and RoSPA at Gold level) for over thirty years, and at retirement continue that habit by engaging the services of a local driving school to undergo a two-hour observed drive with conclusions of the instructor laid down in a written report. All good so far, at 76. Problem is, no one understands that I want evidence of my continued excellence behind the wheel, and no one is at all interested.

The real question is, "Why should you be allowed to break the law, just because you are a celebrity?". I am sure that if somebody crashes into you, it doesn't matter if you are a celebrity or not, its whether you are competent or responsible to drive? Would you feel privelleged if you were run over by a celebrity or not?
Yesterday I was doing 80km/hour on a major highway (which was the speed limit) approaching a town, when a car on my right pulled straight out in front of me, without even looking for approaching traffic. Luckily I pulled up before I hit him and slammed my hand on the horn to warn him. It was total neglect on his part. People need to concentrate and read the road signs. I’ve been driving for 55 years, most of which has been on country roads. People do such stupid things, which often can be fatal.
Katie price was not treated the same as you or I, ms officer. You didn’t charge her for no insurance, you allowed her to drive the vehicle before confirming there was insurance on the car, you didn’t ask her to sit in the police car. Double standards because the copper fancied her
We have lots of fatal crashes in my part of Scotland. Usually motorcyclists who come up from other parts of Britain to do the North Coast 500 and they ride too past and end up binning their machine and themselves. Young drivers driving cars that are too powerful for their standard and skills also end up the same way. We have one traffic police unit in the Highlands and they’re in Dingwall. So, even after the crash happens it’s around a 2 hour wait for them to arrive, (and they drive like formula 1 dudes), and by the time everything is concluded you’re usually 10/12 hours for the average fatal or possible fatal crash. If they think a person may die from their injuries they treat the scene the same as they do for fatals. Total pain in the tits when there’s only one way off the Isle of Skye etc.
@@Adrian_Nelit’s poorly worded. It’s not just the cost of a replacement barrier, it’s also the cost of the work force, cost of checking the full level crossing equipment, cost of the delay penalty.
The barrier isn’t going to magically land from outer space into the railway crossing. You need the physical barrier, plus a crew who have the technical training to actually do the job, plus safety and operational testing of the barrier, plus the costs of any delays to traffic/trains and local business. They had to do repairs to the railway crossing in my town due to simple wear and tear and that bill came to £8000 very quickly. My route to work took me over that crossing regularly and having it shut off was an absolute pain in the backside because it added a mile or so to my route and took me through a horribly busy section of the town at the worst time.
Pretty reasonable tbf. Cost of crews to deal with the broken barrier, urgent transport for the nearest avaliable barrier to the crossing, time of the crew installing it and testing the interlock to put it back into service. This likely doesn't include the cost of the extra work on the signallers part and possibly handsignallers needed at the crossing. There's also the cost of delays to add on top of all that.
In Australia, 95% of vehicles are automatic for the the last 20-30 yrs. It is rare to have a manual car, usually 4WD or race cars. One foot for each pedal.
I have a manual Mustang. I use left foot on the clutch (and brake pedal) and right foot on the gas pedal. My Dad taught me to drive that way. He did that in his automatic car. Makes more sense to me than using the right foot for both operations.
I’ve hired three cars in the UK. Each time we booked an automatic transmission, but were told on arrival that they didn’t have any. Get into the 21st Century UK. All those flipping roundabouts while driving a manual car, is ridiculous.
Have more control in a manual and its a more enjoyable driving experience. I did not feel safe at all while driving automatic. You drive a manual. An automatic drives you.

@@dukedragon28 Or at least compulsory medicals. There's a massive driving test backlog in the UK as it is. I take your point though. I drive 20,000 to 25,000 miles annually for work and witness numerous acts of dangerous driving by the elderly, mostly failure to pay proper attention to events around them.
Why? It’s part of your privilege to drive that your eyesight is good enough. If your eyesight isn’t good enough then you aren’t allowed that privilege. Safety first
Only the really stupid argue with a train. They always win.
In the US of A that would be a minimum of manslaughter if not second-degree murder
You wouldn't get second degree murder in the USA either but manslaughter potentially in both countries.
no way, that’s exactly what caused my train to be delayed by half an hour last week lol
Blue mk2 Reliant Robin 4:25
Were they called the rialto
@@NigelSimms-d6z Nope, the Rialto is the one with the Austin Metro headlights, they sold the Robin (MK2 Fiesta headlights) and the Rialto (MK1 Metro headlights) at the same time despite being the same car except for bodywork
I remember that day I worked at a car showroom on Portland rd and was off to the post office to get tax for a few cars
At 22.40, yer man expresses the profound opinion that at 70, all drivers should be retested.
This test was a joke. The way you positioned was a joke. Even I could not read it properly. The light was dazzling the plate. This was 100% stupidity on the police officers side.
Intentional
I don't think so, I could see and read it perfectly fine at all distances shown.
He clearly had bad eyesight
Another lady at 30:54 managed just fine at an eyesight test also
@@vampy5071 are you serious?
@whitemonkey7932 yup, didn't see how or why those cops would intentially try to make him fail the test.. they even said afterwards of their statistics from previous roadside eye tests they've carried out before
@vampy5071 ik then was the sun dazzling down on the number plate at that time. What gives the right for police to make up their own test when it comes to people's livelihoods. They should be a test that has been past by an expert, not a so-called big shot. That thinks he knows everything.
Why is that old man not wearing a seat belt in the police car shame on the driver
In the UK if a passenger is an adult it is THEIR responsibility to wear one NOT the driver's. (Highway Code)
@@john1v6-
Sitting in a cop car?🤣
@@nm628679c
Yep. You can't be forced to wear it and given his prior agitated state trying to force him to do so would have been a no-no.
Excellent episode. They should do what they do here with seniors driving. Any senior 80, and older must take a drivers course every year. Their eyes are checked as well. I hope you have a great day my friend, and stay safe ❤️🙂⚘️🚔💙.
The old chap who was walking along the A23,obviously the main concern was it’s more like a Motorway than a normal A Road and him walking along in the Flow of Traffic is pretty dangerous for him and other road users but the other thing was the Way when talking to the Police Officer, the old chap kept holding his arm as if he was in pain ( Alarms ) as it’s entirely possible he was on the verge or suffering from the early onset of having a Heart attack or a Stroke !!!!.
Katie Price has got away with too many Traffic accidents and incidents and should be Banned from Driving full stop because she doesn’t care about the safety of her children and especially her disabled son,she isn’t worried about her own safety or that of anyone,in court she shows remorse but outside of Court she is laughing at the Police and the Justice System
I can only sympathise with that one traffic cop named Bertie Bassett!
13:09 that guy actually spoke out and regretted doing that.
Even back the there was a two tier justice system. Katie price got shown all the privileges of a celebrity that nobody else would get.
Problem with making that old guy read that plate was the glare, even with the camera zooming in, it was hard to make out the Y.
I swear most of the blind drivers are in LYMINGTON. Lots of elderly cant see pedestrians at crossings!
Trouble is with famous people they think they can get away with it
Those witnesses lmao
Yesterday I was doing 80km/hour on a major highway (which was the speed limit) approaching a town, when a car on my right pulled straight out in front of me, without even looking for approaching traffic. Luckily I pulled up before I hit him and slammed my hand on the horn to warn him. It was total neglect on his part. People need to concentrate and read the road signs. I’ve been driving for 55 years, most of which has been on country roads. People do such stupid things, which often can be fatal.
“these people” ?! “granddad” ?! How patronising can you …… get?
I don't find it patronising. I have always had great respect for my grandparents and I hope one day to become a grandad myself.
@@oligultonnit's not polite. he should be addressed as Sir
@ fair point.
You should know by now the speed limits or anywhere near it does not apply to motor cyclists
£20,000 for replacing the barriers?? what fantasy land do network rail live in?
@nikkirazelli3250 What do you think they should cost then?
I would have figured the cost to be much more. The unit itself, installation, testing etc. I know in the States these run over $100k.
Which is also making manual cars a big theft deterrent because the young joy riders can't figure out what the third pedal is for ;).
Respected her privacy but everyone else doesn’t matter ?
He should be sacked
No wonder the public has no respect towards law enforcement
Bertie Bassett, lols
8:34 the copper's passenger doesn't have his seatbelt on. Double standards indeed.
Oh give over 😂
The old gentleman was indicating to pull out from behind the mixer lorry & the Mazda didn’t indicate to pull back into the middle lane!! Ahhhh now I know where Mark Fowler from Eastenders is 😊
Do they issue sunglasses to go with those jackets (3:15)?
And so many are still on the road that shouldn't be.
Only because the railways are still unaffordable
A train can’t change direction, it’s impossible’, righhhhhtttt… 😂
Unbelievable, They took my father's licence in his 70s said he couldn't see properly, Yet when my father used a tractor and machinery he lines in the paddock were straighter then any cop ,,
Oh dear a traffic policeman that doesn’t know a Renault from a Rover, maybe he needs an eye test
16:00 poor guy, he’s gonna cause an accident, time to surrender the license
My late dad was the best driver in the world well so he thought but my late mum and I in the back seat of the car watched him going over the white line in nz with huge Larry's carrying tree trunks omg we had a job to get him to give up and he ended up with dementia checks every year would save lives
Police officers were the first place in the Christmas tree
Old lad should have memorised the plate when it was parked behind him
@23:09 traffic cop needs eyes testing, forced oncoming traffic to slow down and obstacle was on their side of the road. Thats an offence! The rules are for you lot too.
After 70 only need to be tested every years! Where I live an eye rest is required every year, even though the drivers licence is for 5 years.
Diabetics do a test every year even younger than 70.
