WOW Dionne really gave this performance her all. There are points where her voice starts to waver but she fights through it like the pro that she has always been. Burt and Dionne really are a match made in music heaven!
She did well considering her voice muscles have changed. I prefer her 20s version but even older she sings this song far better than I can. I'm happy to see her and Burt perform it together. Thank you.

Mennonites to Mahalia Jackson I pray the millennials research music. They are missing so much
I saw Burt in Riverside California last weekend...flew in from Austin Texas.....what a show. Thanks mom for introducing me to his music at so young of an age....a major influence on my music all these years later.

this key is much lower than original. Burt has adjusted with her over the years, she struggles toward the end, yet I LOVE HER and deep respect for Lady Dionne!
Wonderful song... but Dionne has never fully done it justice, in my opinion. Sure, she has a delicate touch and expresses well, but she doesn't quite have a top tier voice, in terms of quality or power. Cilla Black's version is far superior, simply because she's technically a better singer with a superior voice. Simple as that.
If the truth be told the most emotive version of this song is by Wynonna with Burt and his orchestra as she really makes the pain and anguish real that you feel down in your soul. Check it out
