😮Price wise collectable GT phase 3 the first GT always has number 1 aura mystique appearance is subjective so it should be a lively utube.
XA GT hardtop even auto 🤯 XW/ XY GT is when racing tyres where allowed ? normal tyres were failing at bathurst causing avoidable danger so bathurst motto win on sunday buy on monday was fading away
This GT fetish or commodification downside has spawned imitations counterfeit GTs all adds to the mystique
I have your dream car but with 2 extra doors mate.
XW phase one because of the mighty reliability of the 351 Windsor.
Yes, great machine. 👍
My 351 4v GXL...Only cause it was as close as i ever came to owning a GT....Big comfortable and fast beast a true sleeper !...part from that... loved all GTs because of their individuality.
Fair enough. The GXL could be had with the 5.8 GT Power Pack. 👍
Xy they were amazing and so comfortable
@@paulheywood2116 Yes, great model. 👍
For me it's the XA Hardtop. I'm lucky enough to have two of them, both G.T.'s. Bought them in black ( Very Mad Max ) but their factory colours were Summer Gold and Wild Plum. Bought them years ago when no one really wanted the XA's. Couldn't afford to buy one these days 😂
Wow lucky you. 👍👍
I think Xw was great looking and ground breaking. I owned an Xb and loved the cockpit styling. ❤
The XW was a really tough looking car wasn’t it? 👍
XA hardtop number one, just prefer the nose shape and rear tail panel features and will credit the XB for its tougher stance.Coke bottles over the square bodies, but they are all awesome.
I love the tail lights, angled in, on the XA hardtop. 👍
Yes , the angeled taillights on the XA looked much better than on the XB , and the shape of the nose and grille also much nicer . And another good thing with the coupe's is that they accept very wide rubber at the rear.
@@barrycuda3769 Yes, the XA was a gem. 👍
They are all expletive fantastic
😀👍
For me, it's the XA Hardtop. Purple with white interior perhaps, but I'm not fussy. They all looked great as I walked down the production line on my daily visit to the computer-room from the Broadmeadows truck plant. 👍
Man after my own heart with that choice. 👍
XW ...all the way👍
They are cool. Keep an eye out for the ZC Fairlane episode coming too. 👍
Based on looks alone, I’ll say the XR, it does it for me, although I also have a soft spot for the XA in either coupe or sedan form.
Fair enough nit was the first after all. 👍
Personally the XA Hardtop for the win. Cosmic Blue , white interior, auto , sunroof, fast glass, a/c, and a couple of RPO 83 options. Or Onyx Black or Wild Plum. I have the remains of a XA GT hardtop, very very rusty unfortunately. It was originally Wild Plum, White interior, but resprayed a metallic red and interior was swapped out for black. Didn't have the original motor or box and the dash was missing.
Nice choices. I assume the XA you mention is past saving? 🤔👍
Mate, they're never past saving. Someone with good metal skills can repair anything. And these cars are now so collectible they're worth putting the money into and you'll get it back !.
@@paulcanning4702 Yes, if you can do it yourself. 👍
First GT I ever saw was a XR, great car. Then I always wanted an XY but kids put paid to that, My favorite is still the XB in RED.
Nice. 👍
Loved my XT GT but always lusted after the XY GT
But then the XA GT hardtop came out .
We thought, back then !!!
Nothing Could be cooler than it
Yes, the XA hardtop in Wild Violet, white interior and sunroof is my all time favourite. Could have bought one when I first joined FPV. It was at the Nationals and was an RPO83. I think it was $38K at the time. 🫣
Brambles Red XW Phase 2 .Still stand out even today.
Very nice 👍
I love the XA GT but I can't tell if it's just because I love the XA anyway. Man you're totally right about the EL GT, it just completely misses the mark on what a GT should look like, wouldn't be the first time I've needed to have something pointed out to realise.
Ha, thanks for that. 😀👍
I'm biased as I have a Polar White XT It's well balanced car to drive. But the Phase 3 would even be better What it can still do 50 years later as in the Phase 3 Odyssey trip Awesome
White XT GT is a very handsome car. Nice.
Fair call. 👍

Hi Mark, The Falcon XY-GT in bronze or red with black stripes for me from the 1960's and the XB GT in Hard top the cobra in white with blue stripes from the 1970's I do like the look of a classic car, Thanks Take care
Thanks Shaun. 👍
The XA Hardtop. Polar white, black interior, 4 speed top loader. Sports road wheels, one lady school teacher owner. Ah the one that got away because her son thought an 18yr old was yanking his chain. Thanks Jim Shaugnessy, thanks for nothing lol. He sold it for $5k in 1997 😪
I feel your pain 😢
Ouch ,
I've always liked the XW, probably the underdog to the XY, maybe that's why.
Plus it looks excellent in it’s own right. 👍
Hmmmm I’m going XR because of its simplicity, classic good looks and for whatever reason I really like the 289. Second is XB GT Hardtop - the front end design lifted the whole package.
Yes, the XR was quite pure. 👍
Can't decide xr or xb has the nicest rear end just beautiful from the door back
One of each? 😀👍
Without a doubt the 1967 XR GT
The one that started it all 👍
XR - XB GT was all much the muchness with all the same underpinnings.
The AU TE50, TS50 range was the best GT by a country mile!
There is one out of left field. A GT all but in name. 🤔👍
My firm favourite would be the XR , but Iv'e never liked that one colour they came in from the factory , whereas the Mettalic green one that was raced at Bathurst looked great , and as I recall there was a beautiful vintage burgundy one as well. And the XA gt coupe is very nice as well , as is the XW GT . So , no firm pick there , but they're all good . These GTHO's selling for a million or more is insane, and not in a good way, although if I had one to sell , that would be perfectly acceptable.
Yes, there were some nice special build colours in the XR. 👍
XA GT RPO 83 in a sedan.Maybe I'm nuts but I love XA 4 doors.
I prefer the hardtop but the sedan looks excellent too. 👍
I like the 4 door
@@cherylstollery3444 It’s definitely a good looking car. 👍
XT 68
Nice one. 👍
The phase 1 has the best throttle response, the xb gt is the best built gt but my favourite is the xy. To be honest i would have any of the early gt falcons. They are the most exciting cars ive driven and ive driven everything
Fair enough. As you say, there are no bad ones. 👍
Fully optioned XB 4 door in red
Nice looking machine. 👍
XA Falcon GT for me! Whilst I love the XW and XY Falcon GT, I love the XA shape, colours, and style.
Me too. They are all cool though. 👍
Tough question Mark , i have always been an XY GT boy , I did get a ride in my dads mates white and black XY GT t bar auto , no not a HOEY , but still a fantastic cruiser that put a huge smile on my face and raised the hair on the back of my neck , at one stage i got as a young apprentice, i did get to drive moffats phase 3 from the Car park into the workshop WOO HOO which made my day as a young GTHO fan :) , , it was a grumpy bastard , and very much a race car that was quite rough around the edges , it was being prepared for sale and one of the older mechanics got to work on it .
i still have a soft spot for the old XR GTs , i owned a non Gt XR 289 , but i liked all the GT models , but the XB less of a favorite than the others for some reason , i dunno , it seemed a bit less muscle car like to me , although a mate had an XB ex chaser interceptor , it still had a good turn of speed .
Yeah ..... XY GT for me .... classic red and black stripes :) .
A funny story , at another time i was working at a GM dealer and come out at knock off time , and there was this beautiful XY GT , i couldnt resist , i had to check it out , it was a manual , it did have the GTHO on the glovebox , i suspect he may have had a bit work done to it , it had some mods to the sump that where not XY phase 3 , anyway the owner wandered across the road with milk and bread under arm , i complimented him on his gorgeous car , he smiled and hopped in , fired her up and gently backed it out on the road and then lit the tyres up going through the gears going up the road for what seemed like forever for my benefit no doubt :) .
i come into work the next day , and in lunch room and mentioned the GT out front smoking the the tyres , the boss piped up , yes it was good burnout wasnt it :) ,
One of the old car detailers piped up , young bastard :) :) .
AH the old cars , heaps of character , easy to work on , it took skill to drive them .
I hate these new Electric cars , ..... souless , characterless , no skill required to drive them dung boxes .
Sorry i get carried away .
XY it is. Great stories too. A special time. 👍
The XT GT 302 in four speed, no Vinal roof, and Zircron Green Metallic. It was actually a failure in terms of race reliability at 10/10ths, but as a London to Sydney race teams winner, it was great. The XR 289 K code in Australia's engine system was more reliable. The 302 failed in its job to win Bathurst. You can see how I was not only influenced by Sir, um, no, Dr John Wrights Thundering GTs. But his job was done as a 8 year old when I saw a picture of an XT GT being lifted off a boat in Graham Robson's " Encyclopaedia of the Motor Car". One black and white photo sold me an image of Ford's Falcon GT in XT form as a race winning car. Bill Burke Al Turner, Howard Marsden, and Sir Brian Inglis AC. Mostly those guys, continued on the GT as an integral part of Ford until the gas crunch and the de-contenting of the 351 for XA and XB let people know they were being cheated. A GXL 5.8 , ESP 351 or RPO 36 Falcon XE is more of a GT to me than the defanged XA or XB. Those cars list a lot of the edge Al Turner's Phase I, 1.5, II and III's produced. The stillborn Calypso Green Phase IV wasn't ever a proper production car, the H code 351 engine was such a special car, it would have done what the XT GT did to the XR GT..it would have been. A step on in refinement. The XW and XY Phase Falcons were going into a Four door Valiant Pacer phase. The XA Phase III was moving back to a more subtle form.
Yes, I like the XTs too. 👍
XR 1967 GT highland green from the states

That’s fair. 👍
There all nice
Yep. 👍
For style it’s the XB hardtop, but still love the XY. What the hell, I love all of them

XA was the best it was an improved XY Came with different body styles and won more Bathurst's.

i owned a xt gt in the late 70 's early 80's and a xa gt before that ,the xt handled beautifully and could be easily driven flat out , the xa was a lot more powerful and a lot less forgiving . For me its the xt gt

XA GT RPO83 4 door sedan in metallic lime/avocado green, black interior with black decals & stripes (don't know the ford color name but one was discrete and classy) the ONLY Falcon I like pre 1988 EA's. The XA had fine, sharp styling coupled with smooth curves. Plus other nice details the bonnet pressing was stylish, the gills in the front mudguards all of it looked good and had little extra features, the XB was almost change for change's sake and gone were some of the little extra features I always thought that the XB front looked like someone had used the components from 2 different models as the grills just did not look correct with the vast bonnet overhang & always felt that the XC was just plain bland, thank the Ford "god" that they never bothered with a XC GT. When the XD was released what a bloody improvement, back to the class of the XA again.
The XA is a top looking car. 👍
Gotta be XW or XY for me. Yes, I understand they will both try to kill me every slightly damp day...
I'll take a metallic of classic Ford orange/gold & my wrap guy will put on black go fast stripes. =)

All XT GT's are 302ci Windsor v8, the XW GT (not HO Phase I (Windsor) II (Cleveland) are also Windsor V8 in ether 302ci or 351ci displacement.
The XY GT switched full time to the (then imported) Cleveland V8 (again 302ci or 351ci), it was not until the XA that Geelong started making the 302ci and 351 Cleveland V8 in both 2V and 4V versions which lasted until well into 1983.
In fact Americans are now scavenging Australia for those Geelong made Cleveland V8 (should be Y & D block) engines as ours are better than the equiv USA versions, from memory the US made Cleveland was only around for a short time (like 69 to 71) and was replaced by the "BOSS" which is Windsor bottom end Cleveland heads.
