Drove a 1600 BDA-engined Escort for a while. Wonderful fun. The owner went off for a holiday and had nowhere to securely park the car, so he asked me to look after it and said I could use it. Well, what an offer! I went over to the Lake District from Sunderland one time at night, 140 mph over the Pennines through those long straight bits and many twisty hairpins - it flew!
Like air-cooled VW's fun cars in their own rights love the old classic RS and AVO built RS1600's and Mexicos the Mk1 being my favorite a timeless classic
Blimey......so Ford sold the works rally Escort in '72 for just £1000. That said, I bought a 5 year old car in '75 for £500 though it wasn't a rally car!
Sorry Tony, not happy with the positioning of your seatbelts....you need to loosen the shoulder straps and tighten the lap belts properly first, then readjust the shoulder ones to suit. As a licenced Clerk of the Course, I'd stop you competing until it was remedied - it's your safety I'm concerned with!!!!
Back when motorsport looked fun, nice normal people, before the money took over.
Roger Albert Clark - absolute hero and legend
Good old Roger, Genius behind the wheel....taken from us long before his time.....rip
Fantastic brings back brilliant memories for me love to see you both ROGER WAS THE COSACK
Met Roger and had a good chat with him on the Humberside rally in the Yorkshire forests, and beat him on a few stages until we went otl.
That was so cool. I used to live and breath Ford Escorts!
Roger Clark,the Escort master,and a real Motorsport character 👍👍
Loved this soo much. And when this was out i had escorts mk 1 s. Still puts a lump in my throat. Lovely memories. Of a great driver.

Wonder did he give the old map to the lad who restored her... wud a been a nice gesture
He did and they both signed the inside of the boot lid.
Excellent, this is why I like youtube
Wow! Legends , what’s the Car worth now ?, priceless I guess .
Drive a mk1as a daily driver. Still the best all-rounder on the street
Adrian Ryan i m agree with you. i love Ford from 60s and 70s. Today i drive Ford Fiesta and i are wery happy with it.
I agree. The mk 1and mk 2 Mexico's and RS models were what you call real Escorts. Not like the front wheel drive Escorts that came later.
LOVED IT 👍👍
Car was a ringer
All been hush hushed now like as the real, one was in Ireland with paperwork and invoices in a motorsport collection
Mk1 RS1600 BDA on full song......ahhhh oh to young again 😂😂
So badass 👊👊
£65,000 back then was still a lot of money, but ford sold it for £1000😮, wonder where it is now, iconic and marvelous car
He sold it on.
Mooi
If I was the owner I would,nt let that mad nutter drive it :-)
😀
How does one find the specs and sticker sizes etc etc for this car. I want to build a replica myself
Es owners Club should be able to help you. I used to have a mint twin cam. 30 years ago. It flew. I sold it for 4 grand. Gutted
Not like the half a rally today
