I just continue to be happy for you to have found this watch and have such profound connection to it. It wouldn't feel right to share my views on whether it would be for me or not, or what I'd prefer to be different. Especially with a unique handmade watch, this is just for you. So I'm here to enjoy hearing and seeing your connection with it.
Hi Peter, just wanted to say thank you for all of your posts throughout 2024. I’ve greatly enjoyed the high quality video and images coupled with your personal and no-nonsense insights. Keep up the great work!! Cheers.
It’s a mechanical art piece. A labyrinth forged by genius you could follow with a loupe or macro lens forever. Pure eye candy. Another inspiring piece to own. Enjoy your holidays as well!
This one is really a beautiful piece. That picture of luminiscence taken in the shade, wow! But of all the watches you have reviewed, I fell in love with that red buttoned Hahnhart flieger. And I also remember fondly that first Leica watch you reviewed here - truly jaw dropping experience, another discovery of engineering beauty that left me in awe. Well done and I wish you that watchmakers would keep making these little wonders for you and all of us to enjoy them in coming years
Congratulations on finding something so special. This is the quintessential example of a man wearing a watch instead of the watch wearing the man. Thanks for sharing Sir. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
One can really feel the love you have for this stunning watch! An yes, getting comments and credits from real watch geeks is great. I am wearing Sinn watches for about 35 years now and enjoyed a couple of nice conversations with strangers that turned out to be fellow watch nerds. Have fun with your beauty, merry christmas and a happy new year.
Just for you to know, you got me into watches with the original video you made on this watch. I don’t know what will happen in the future, but I definitely want to get my hands on this watch with this specific configuration! Looks amazing! I think this is something you can call special.
Oh yes... the Aegean colour (dial !!!). No wonder this has such a unique place in your heart... Enjoy the holidays (plus anything you love) with the family bro. Cheers!
Absolutely lovely piece. I agree with you....I buy watches for ME, because I like them. Especially something like this. It's to mark a point in time, a point in your life. It's a memory you wear on your wrist.
Wow, that is a beautiful watch! After many years of watch collecting and having double-digit watches in my collection, I have definitely come to realize that I gravitate toward watches with full Arabic dials. Those really speak to me and this Dornbluth is a really fine example. May have to add this to the list.
My first "real" watch is one I modded myself because I couldn't find what I was looking for and then I learned you can mod them. The whole idea scared the crap out of me but after planning it and doing it step by step I got it done. It's not an expensive watch, in total it was less than 600 including the tools, but I love it. It's MY watch and there is no other like it, having a attachment to it and knowing the journey behind it makes it invaluable.
A truly unique and very special watch Pete. It's amazing how a watch, sometimes expensive other times cheap, can hold such incredible emotional value in our hearts. For me, and you know I have a big collection, the one watch I will never let go is a simple Casio G-Shock DW5600 worn by my Dad. It's old and full of nicks and scratches. My Dad loved this watch. And to me it is the most valuable watch in the world. A very Merry Christmas to you and your family, and may God bless you all always, brother.
Mr. Peter Kotsa, I look forward to seeing you again soon to present this seemingly trivial object - in the literary sense - that is the watch, for some, but for others, an object whose divisions into hours, minutes and seconds are significant. Happy Holidays to all
Love the background you have setup with the wallpapers of the watch on laptops and screen. Wonderful!!! ❤🎉 I have a Stowa Marine Original 41mm, very similar to this watch. I love it for its movement and simple, but classy looks. This watch of yours is "gold" version of it. Very well made and beautifully decorated movement. Size is perfect for your wrist. Enjoy the watch Bro! 🎉
Glad you’re still enjoying it so much, sometimes we lust after watches, buy them and then they leave us feeling flat! Definitely a winner!! Have a great Christmas Peter and anyone else who sees this.🎄👍⏱️
Pete, thank you so much for this review. It reminded me once again why I love this hobby so much! I think if you get caught up in brand names, you’re really restricting your exposure to amazing pieces like this one. I buy a watch with exactly the same approach that you do, if it moves me if it speaks to me, that’s my main motivation. That’s what keeps bringing me back to your channel, your passion for time pieces is so evident, as opposed to a lot of reviewers that seem to be trying to sell you on what they’re reviewing. Have a great Christmas holiday, I look forward to seeing what you have in store for 2025.
At least I can see at first glance that this fine watch is pure class! Seen this way, you are showing off mate! 😂 Jokes aside, congrats on this true enthusiast's watch! Merry Christmas! 🎅
Congratulations! Beautiful watch... I too had purchased a watch that I share the same feelings... Bremont Broadsword... gives me alot of joy for my adventure lifestyle... one day I hope to own a watch like yours... thanks for your reviews 👍
Beautiful watch. I just bought my first German watch, a Laco, and I have it wrapped up and under the tree. I just hope the spirit of the season keeps my wife from chiding me!
Great watch. You're even particularly lucky you didn't have to wait at least a year to have one made for you. Ready to buy when you were there. I'd love to spec out and have a bespoke one made some day. Although I think the smaller case size would be preferable for my 7" wrist. I have to say there certain details and proportions of the dial of the larger 42mm size like the one you have that look better. Particularly the small seconds is perfectly centered and the size of it fills up the space between the center and the outer dial. The smaller 38mm doesn't do that. The next best thing, maybe better, is having drilled through lug holes. You can easily remove any strap with those. I don't mind if it makes the outside less clean. It makes changing straps easy and way less stressful.
That is a beauty! Love the colour. I've got one on the way but from time to order to time of delivery will be about a year. I went with a traditional 3-hand with engraved markers, red 12 with a matching sweeping seconds hand. I can't wait to get it! It took you a week to make the decision? It took me several years! No regrets though. Like you, I prefer to buy quality watches that fly under the radar. It's like my Habring Erwin Pilot. It has a drop-beat seconds hand that many people mistake for a quartz movement. I like that sort of thing. As you say, only the people in the know, know. I live in Hong Kong where status is everything and you can't turn around without seeing a Rolex of some sort. Not my thing at all. I'll happily take the hand-crafted pieces all day long. Keep enjoying the watch!
My friend got one of these 20 years ago. I thought it was the most beautiful watch I ever saw and it’s his watch that got me into watches. I was about to get one but then the IWC Portugueser 40 was released and ended up with that
Nice watch. I have a fusie pocket watch and the insides are amazingly decorated similarly to your watch. There also is that microscopic chain to ensure even torque throughout the day as power unwinds. Solid silver case.
Glad you love it Pete, its a beautiful watch , although its not my cup of tea. Im surprised at 42mm and a 52 mm lug 2 lug , that you actually love it. Normally you'd be saying its too large etc. But thats the beauty of this hobby , and why its so important to actually try the watch on the wrist. Some work and others don't, and sometimes we just can't explain it. I still love my seiko sla043, but sometimes wish it was a tad bigger for me. My tudor chrono is 41mm and hits my sweet spot , so I'm lucky I love both in different ways. Ive also got a formula one tag thats only 38mm which is tiny for my 19cm wrist , but strangely it works ? Have I learnt anything about watch sizes yet , apparently not , but I have learnt to enjoy what you like. Have a great Xmas m8 , you work incredibly hard , and im in awe of what you do. Your definitely one of the legends on watches now , and fully deserve that accolade.
I agree with you about your stunning Dornbluth. It's priceless and timeless, subtle, classical, and elegant. Obviously inspired by the Patek Philippe Ref 96, with many excellent watchmakers today making variations, such as Kikuchi Nakagawa. Dornbluth, however, is in a league of their own. I bow.
Interesting. Coincidentally I bought all the parts from Aliexpress to build an almost identical watch. Almost identical except with a Seagull movement, rose Gold case with luminous Flieger dial and hands. Aliexpress has dials and hands like yours but without the luminous feature. I got a similar brown leather strap with a rose Gold deployment clasp. I haven't assembled it yet but seeing your video makes me want to pull out my tools.
Loving your view on this - I also want an emotional connection with a watch if it will stay in my collection long term - otherwise it's just ANOTHER watch! I remember you finding this watch by happy coincidence (and a good nudge by your wife) so I am delighted for you mate, that's it ended up becoming THE watch for you Peter mate 😁
I have a Hamilton Railway Special from my great-grandfather, an Omega Constellation from my grandfather, and a Rolex Datejust from my father. Last year I received my Dornblüth 99.1. It will be my addition to the family heirloom collection.
Really like the dial but the movement is breathtaking! Such a shame you can’t reverse it on the wrist! Love the fact it had lume as well. A lot of everyday dress watches used to have lume in the 60s so this is still a classic style watch. Photography top notch as always. Great review!
yes, a rubber strap for a watch with no water resistance is a perfect fit. I have the exact same feelings you have with your watch but with my aliexpress watches.
I have complimented you on this watch choice before. I love your etthics and attitude to watches. I would like to agree but disagree on the point of the quick release springbars. I, too, prefer a quick release springbar as it reduces a lot of hassle and greatly reduces the risk of scratching the case but on pure aesthetics when you have such a beautiful movement on display and old fashioned strap and springbar combo looks best in my opinion. I wish you a very happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year.
Thats a very dangerous shop to visit brother...haha Second visit and as you know I bought another watch from Peter (video coming January) Hope you're well Tony and thanks for sharing mate 🙏
Hi Peter I think this watch would look awesome on a nice mesh bracelet, I have a Tissot Gentleman and all the straps oem and aftermarket didn’t fit the watch or made it look proper on my wrist, until I bought a nice 21 mm mesh bracelet with tapper from strapcode.
Great review. I share your thoughts on owning a Dornbluth. I actually own two, a Calibre 99.6-M Mondphase Engraved Silver Dial (40mm) and Dornblueth & Sohn Calibre 99.3 Calendar Black Dial (42mm). I keep the watches in the watch display box on my desk when not the wrist.
A beautiful watch Peter & I remember when you first purchased it.🥰🤤🤣 I agree re the quick release straps. Knowing it’s time consuming & a hassle for you, I’m willing to swap your straps out! I’d only need it a week or two at a time to see if each strap was aesthetically appealing ok?😂🤭
It is a gorgeous watch. Thanks again for a great video, which, I believe, is your second one on this same watch (understandably. Now, I just went on their website site, and unfortunately, they only have 5 models with the second’s subdial, all with white dials, including one without the arabic numbers. This is a watch for someone who will love it from the day he receives it, until the day he ceases to collect!
Great watch. Craftsmanship has a cost, the price doesn't shock me more than that. The mechanics are beautiful. Good choice, Peter.
Totally agreed 👍
That color is so unique! It's just beautifully done!

Beautiful watch Pete. Merry Christmas to you and the family.
Thanks so much Greg, Merry Christmas to you too!
It’s beautiful. It also looks very good on you. The strap looks solid but very comfortable.(the green rubber one mate)
The video doesn't do the watch dial justice. Having seen it up close, it is truly beautiful. Thanks for sharing Peter.

I bought one too and dont think I could ever sell it. So unique.
Such a beautiful watch!!! 😍 I own a Dornbluth, I just love it and it's very special to me, but it's not as nice as yours.
Killer combo on the rubber straps ❤
Beautiful watch! Especially the movement... 🥰😍🤩
Gorgeous piece. That’s really something.

Thats a stunning watch , personally Id want a micro rotor and a screw crown , but I do understand the tactile winding thing .
What a stunning watch! And that movement looks fantastic!
Gorgeous watch, like the 42MM diameter, works for my big wrist size. Saw some other color options, like the white dial and gold case look.

Great watch. You're even particularly lucky you didn't have to wait at least a year to have one made for you. Ready to buy when you were there.
I'd love to spec out and have a bespoke one made some day. Although I think the smaller case size would be preferable for my 7" wrist.
