  • The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired breed of dog, developed in Germany. The coat is smooth and tight-fitting; colours are fawn or brindled, with or without white markings, and white. Boxers are brachycephalic (they have broad, short skulls), have a square muzzle, mandibular prognathism (an underbite), very strong jaws, and a powerful bite ideal for hanging on to large prey. The Boxer was bred from the Old English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser which became extinct by crossbreeding rather than by a decadence of the breed. The purpose of the crossbreeding was the wish to eliminate the excessive white color of the breed, and the necessity of producing thousands of dogs for one of the most popular breeds in the world. The Boxer is part of the Molosser group. This group is a category of solidly built, large dog breeds that all descend from the same common ancestor, the large shepherd dog known as a Molossus. The Boxer is a member of the Working Group. -

    Why are so many topic segments repeated before you go on to new subject matter? This video is in need of an edit to cut out redundant segments. As near as I could tell, each segment was repeated four times before it went on to something new. After the intro I wondered what was wrong with my tablet. Then I was wondering if there was a glitch in the internet - I checked my connection. Low and behold by the time I checked my connection and my internet set up and came back it was repeating the same introductory segment again. Then I had to endure it again. And again.
    Then we are on tuner subject matter and then low and behold: the repetition again! I was annoyed and frustrated so I tapped it forward to find the very same thing repeated over and over and over. I've typed it forward until I got two new subject matter and then backed it up to the beginning of the new subject matter I had to do this more times throughout the video to find new subjects.
    I hope you do admire my stick-to-it-tiveness, as I almost left your video several times over. Wonder how many viewers have, and just didn't bother to let you know, right after the introduction had begun to repeat itself so many times?

      Can’t be a bad thing if you ask me. Some boxers muzzles are so short that they can’t regulate their body temperature in warm temperatures. Obviously you don’t want them so long that they don’t fit the standard anymore but the longer the better to me even if it’s just a few millimeters. To me the European boxers muzzles are too short.

      I know my dog history. Amstaff and Pitbull were the same but got separated in 1936. Amstaffs are bred for looks and Pitbulls for gameness. There are still dual registered (show) pitbull/amstaffs but most of the time the difference is visible.

    • @caratcranker5874
      @caratcranker5874 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it was around 1975. but you have the picture. The boxer was and still is, really, the German Bulldog. Undershot jaw designed for bull hunting and baiting.

    • @wanneske1969
      @wanneske1969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess the American Bulldog is mainly boxer, as the English Bulldog was already a showdog when people moved to the States. The current American Bulldog is a design breed in my opinion. One of the first famous Johnson stud dogs was a cross between an English (show) bulldog and a smooth Saint Bernard

    • @caratcranker5874
      @caratcranker5874 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have seen pictures of Am Bulldogs from the 1830's, I think it used the original English bulldog [extinct] not the squat freak of today, as it's or as a part of the picture. But there are too many variations in the AM bulldog for it to be called the AM bulldog in my opinion. The Scot line and jonston line are very different, and there are more different lines than just those 2. WHY? every other breed looks the same to it's self, size and colour vary, but not head type and structure. I don't think they used the boxer, but more so, the ORIGINAL English bulldog, that was crossed with the early German boxer type as well. just my opinion.

    Boxers are strong dogs, and they are kind of tough. But the American Pitbull is more so. American Pitbulls are stronger, more athletic, tougher, have higher pain tolerance, are tested and proven to have better temperaments, are more versatile working dogs, and are the best gladiators that have been, and still are, used to battle large animals like bears and hogs. American Pitbulls are also better competitors that dominate and are the favorite breed in strength and athletic sports like weight pulling. I have seen American Pitbulls pull over 12,000 pounds. Even though boxers are also used in weight pulling, I have never seen any boxer able to pull half of that or compete on the same level as American Pitbulls. American Pitbulls were bred as farm dogs to help farmers and protect them from livestock, especially the bulls. If the large animal tried to attack the farmer, the American Pitbull would take the bull on and control it. For more info on the American Pitbull - www.dailymotion.com/video/xaf5xb_pit-bull-dog-breed-explained_animals
    Here is more info on them for people that like reading over watching videos and learning even more info - www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanpitbull.htm
    Like it says the American Pitbull was *bred as an all-around farm dog, working the farms as a cattle/hog dog. Some chose to turn their talents into the sport of pit-fighting. The breed's tenacity and accompanying strength are unmatched in the canine world. Pitbulls excel in practically every canine task including herding, guarding, hunting, policing, cart pulling and ratting. A Pitbull named Banddog Dread holds more canine working titles than ANY other breed*.

      that's cool, thanks for posting. awesome information about the American Pitbull. I had 2 when I was a child growing up and they did nothing but love and protect me. I saw them at their most vicious times as well which were traumatic for me. all they were doing was protecting our house and did nothing wrong but attacked a person who had climbed into my backyard. Kitty and Pitstop both rushed the man and he was bitten by Pitstop and he couldn't let go for a long time and Police came, as well as Paramedics and Firefighters. Long story short Pitstop had to be put down for some asshole who jumped into our backyard with a backpack full of tools and ill intentions. It still sticks in my head today, I can remember the blood gushing out from the mans forearm where Pitstop wouldn't let go of him no matter how much he was hitting him and kicking him. Kitty tried to help Pitstop but she didn't bite anyone luckily. Two of my favorite dogs, my first dogs ever. I'm 27 now and have 2 boxers. I was about 9-10 when this incident occurred.
