The Rottweiler - Pet Dog Documentary English

- The Rottweiler is a breed of domestic dog, regarded as medium-to-large or large. The dogs were known in German as Rottweiler Metzgerhund, meaning Rottweil butchers' dogs, because one of their uses was to herd livestock and pull carts laden with butchered meat to market.[3] This continued until the mid-19th century when railways replaced droving for herding. Rottweilers are now used as search and rescue dogs, as guide dogs for the blind, as guard dogs and police dogs.
Character: Strong, sure, fearless.
Particularity: In the past, butchers used this powerful dog to haul meat barrows and protect their goods and earnings. -

the best dog breed I've ever owned!! my last Rottweiler passed three years ago and I still miss her so much. We fostered two Pit bulls and ended up adopting them since we couldn't get them adopted but I still want to adopt another Rottie..
@Rishank Pratti A well-socialized Rottie doesn't pose a threat to others as long as you are the ALFA. My Rotties were very friendly towards all my family members, and friends, but they were still very protective when strangers would ring the doorbell or knock on the front door. They would run toward the door, pounce on it while barking and growling. They sounded very vicious!! If we allowed the person in the house, the dogs would smell them and then retreat. They knew that person was not a threat to us since we allowed them in.
They have to be socialized at a young age, by introducing them to other dogs, kids, people in different situations. If you are a first-time Rottie owner, I would recommend adopting a Rottie from a rottweiler rescue group, they would let you know the dog's personality, and advise you.
The bottom line, being the ALFA with that breed is important. Here's a channel you can watch and learn from.. th-cam.com/channels/DNGKJ7sJ6OMH9kDafPaMRg.html
Here's a Rottie rescue website rottweiler.rescueme.org/
@@manonfc should I get a male Rottweiler or a female one? What's the difference between male and female rotties. Whose more easy to train, whose more aggressive/protective? Plz do answer.
The Rotti is a wonderful dog.
😍😍😍😍
I am really! So very sorry for your loss 😢💔 even though it was a long time ago
Definitely the best dog ever: intelligent, obedient, loyal, fabulous character and strong work ethic!
Deadly if need to be great dog
@@lindaraymer5918 What do you mean deadly? I've had at least5 and bred more. They never hurt anyone. I have a GSD now I have to get rid of because he runs away to attack other dogs.
Rottweilers are few of the breeds I've seen that really protects the owner without any protection tranin needed. These dogs not only bark but will bite for protecting their owners ❤️
Allot of dog's will naturally protect if someone actually puts hands on their owner.. BUT !! Any dog like that NEEDS to be trained.. you don't want a dog like that making decisions to bite/attack on its own. That's how dog's end up taken away & put down... Trust me, I've been arrested more than once for dog bites lol.
😍😍😍😍
By far the best dog video I have ever seen. All great tips and information.I adopted a 10 mo old male that had been badly abused. He is a fantastic dog. Very loving, smart, protective and affectionate. He is also gorgeous. My second son.
Wow!One of the best Rottweiler videos! And I watched dozens of them. Very informative covering important issues as well as history. Thank u so much for spending the time to make such an excellent video
My wife rescued a Rottweiler dominant female over a year ago. She had been abused, neglected, and left on the side of road. She’s quite small for a Rottie (She’s about 48 lbs) but her coloring and coat are 100% Rottweiler. She loves walks, playing ball, is fiercely protective, and is the biggest baby you will ever meet.
rottweilers are awesome guard dogs and are very intelligent
Best dogs ever, fiercely loyal, independent and intelligent, love them!
Is he conformable with another dog in the house (Both if bought as puppies) ? Thanks
@@SuperAdobeFlash yes
😍😍😍😍😍
We have 1 rotty his name is cove his 7 months old now he bring us a lot of joy sometimes headaches just a little bit 🤣🤣 but thats nothing compare to the joy love that he gave us... ♥️
This is the best breed ever created and this video is very good. As a dog trainer, I respectfully disagree with the instruction of pushing on the dogs bum to make him sit. That movement can be hard on their hips. It's better to "scoop" the underneath his bum, creating the same result without the pressure on the hips, or hold your hand or a treat above his head, moving it back towards his back. This will make him lift his nose toward the air, which will automatically move his bum toward the ground.
Some really excellent tips here. Well worth watching.
We just adopted a Rottweiler puppy and this video taught me so much!
I have a mostly Rottie rescue. The sweetest, kindest , most intelligent baby in the world. His looks, well his forehead is not as high, his his brown legs are brindle, and his chest is white brindle and the tip of tail has about 6 white hairs. 4:50 4:55
RIP my sweet Moe Moe and Millie ❤️ Rottweilers are simply the best.

I want a pet Rottweiler so badly. Thank you for this documentary. I learned a lot.
adopt one! rottweiler.rescueme.org/
My canine friend a lovely Rott, we enjoyed a lovely Journey for 12 years and 8 months, we had a great time together and minor differences through out his life, unfortunately he died three weeks ago, A lovely friendly strong obedient breed, a lil bit hard headed but still very freindly, i already miss him
Best dog I ever had. The only thing I don’t like about them is their lower life expectancy. Though, my last Rottweiler lived to 12. It hit me as bad as if I lost a child.
I have my first doberman and even though I have had many family dogs that passed away . I don't even wa t to think about that day.
@@smallnuts2 enjoy him ,spend time with your dog as much as you can
@@charlesleeray8512 true. This is the first dog I raised myself. Others were a family dog. So its like a stronger bond knowing your the parent of the dog.

I have to add my own option. First Rottie 1988, on my final 7th (I'm getting too old now). My babies were all papered, and beautiful. Basic training, but tons of walking in the hills which in I live. I did not own them for any purpose but love. This video, which I do not dispute, I just wanted to give another point of view. My "kids" watched my 1/2 acre to where the "hood" knew us. Kept the runt babies off my first male, then years later adopted a pup from the pound. They helped train him. I could walk 300#'s of dogs (all 3 of them) down the street no problem. I was very strong then. But, point being, when I got home from work, the slept inside on the bed with me. First, just the Alpha male. When the new baby came, Alpha gave up his spot slowly.
They are, the best dog EVER to have. Just have room for them. At work, they stayed outside. NONE were ever Crated... I find that like, "how would you like to be in a small cage". NO... but that's just me. 20 years, 7 Rotts. All both loving and still great watch dogs, and I had the best memories of my life. My last baby is a deaf "rescue" baby. Came at 8 months, now 2 1/2 yrs old. I giggle, as what she hates is "bicycles". I know, people have different uses for their Rotties. Just wanted to share my life's world with them. : D
doglover19591 cool
doglover19591 thank you for sharing. I've been thinking of getting a Rottie for some years now. Have had other breeds and it's nice to read your experience.
I want to say thanks to both "Randal" and R M for your replies. I'm both "old (age) and new" (youtube). Would never have know had not RM somehow got a msg to my box. LOL, 1st one. That aside, Rotties now next yr 30 yrs owner. Really, basic training classes for a "home dog" has worked for me. That being said, they "ran the property" while I was at work. I did spoil them. And still do "Paikia". Cook her whole chickens. Make stock from the skin, bones, and veggies. 1 hour in the pressure cooker. Chill overnight, skim the schmaltz (fat) and feed that w/Blue Buffalo kibble. Her coat glows. I'm sure the kibble would be fine. But I like that she gets the extra nutrition from all the leached bone marrow, and veg. LOL, my first babies, poor things were fed on kibble and Pedigree canned food mix. However, their coats glowed as well. : D Thanks again.
My advice to anyone getting a Rottie, be prepared to have your heart broken when they eventually pass away. Show them love and they will show you unconditional love, loyalty and protection. They are like a child that never makes a mistake. Nothing in this world can take away the sadness of losing a Rottie, but looking back he brought our family together and we can happily say we gave him the best possible life with care, attention and the finest meats. Till we meet again....
Idnan Ali I know, Rottweiler have something special about them. I've had many dogs but Rottweilers are a true loving protecting Breed that will love you more than you can imagine.
this is the basis for any good dog. dont limit any of this to rotties. all dog owners should watch this. good one
My rottweiler Zeek died on me a little over 8 years..we were going for his walk in the dog park after work and he collapsed..I had to carry him to my brothers car..one of the hardest things I've been through. Love you Zeek..miss you very much

My German Rottweiler name Bishop passed away 2 days ago, consumed some mushrooms in the backyard. I did'nt realize what he got hold to until the damage was done. Just turned 4 and I miss him so much that for now I just look at TH-cam videos on Rotts until my breeder is ready to release the new puppies during there waitig period....Please BEWARE of mushrooms they are toixc and can kill your ROTT...
Thank you, yeah, my Rotti likes to chow on plants. Dug up all the flower bulbs I planted in the fenced yard she runs around in.
Very informatika. Thank you
The best breed that could ever be
Thank you for this very very informational video, because I now know that a Rottweiler is definitely too much for me to handle. A Boxer with intuition is much more my style. I recognize that I have a very informal style of training. I have very few absolutes. Stay, back up,stop, come, down, sit, outside/potty, mine/give (leave it/drop it) ; ok/free/go run are release terms for different situations. Intoning a very stern sounding "what're u DOIN?" has always stopped any breed when I have been in another room and I don't know what they are doing, and they come trottng back to be by my side as they come, I say "heel" and capture that behavior with praise, and substitute it from time to time, but come usually means heel to the left side anyway.
Against your advice for this dog, which I'm not sure is the same advice for every breed you have a documentary for, I did talk a lot with my Boxer and I actually never had to train her, she simply always intuitive what to do regardless of what the other dogs in the pack were doing, and it was always the appropriate sit or down or stay or heel or get between my son and anyone too rambunctious or even a guest and someone ranting about a situation in their life from down the street. My Boxer set herself foursquare against that possible foe. I never trained her to do that either. She just somehow seemed to innately know exactly how to behave in every situation. She really was the easiest dog ever had.
I have a 4 month old female and I'm so happy I pulled the trigger on her. everything they say about them characteristically are so true. I look into those big brown eyes and I swear she can see right through me. If your on the fence, just get one! Thank me later

I pet sit and I absolutely adore my Emma. She’s amazing! I have been accepted as her pack and my soul sings whenever I sit with her.
I love almost everything about her. But when she farts.., my God!😅
I'm going to breed Rotties. They're such a beautiful breed
please don't! too many need homes rottweiler.rescueme.org/
@M Garcia I’m not a first time dog owner- I do my research and I also understand dogs. I agree- they are for people that are knowledgeable / experienced. But I disagree with the being unable to train them. They’re a stubborn breed that needs the extra work put in for training.
@M Garcia aww that’s super sweet! And yes I agree, they’re very smart dogs. I’ve also heard that Rotties are great at distinguishing between an intruder and a guest
Great video! A lot of information for all breeds whether they are puppies or fully mature. I really loved the information about dogs diets. Really beneficial!
😍😍😍😍
Wouldn't trade my two or my eldest's parents(💖😇💖) for any other breed. They can be a handful but make the best companions

I’m looking for a great breeder to find a Rottweiler. Any suggestions?
Von Ruelmann.
My dad he had a Rottweiler mix back in the day named Buck
😢💔
Looking for a rotti for my next dog. Hard to find properly bread rotts these days. Everytime a Google for breeders all I see is the ones that look like oversized puggs...
Try Von Ruelmann.
I WISHD ID HAD 7 ROTTWEILERS
i like it
Would not swap my rotties for any other dog.
Can you do a video on albino ferrets
With Rottweiler we came across with Dogo Argentino also
he is pretty
Jbug Atkins very pretty
I love puppies
i think rottweilers are related to bears
Hhhhh far of this animal
My Mother said that when I brought my female home at 8.5 weeks.
Whatever the 2nd best dog breed is, it's very distant to the rottweiler

In England and Wales, ear cropping is illegal, and no dog with cropped ears can take part in any Kennel Club event (including agility and other non-conformation events).
Tail docking is also illegal, except for a few working breeds; this exemption applies only when carried out by a registered veterinary surgeon.
Brittany Rozenberg Hollander ears and tail cropping is (was) for protecting sheep guard dogs whilst fighting with wolves, those are the parts wolves can easly catch
This is beacause in GB and Australia they love criminals and want your guard dogs to be as vulnerable as possible. We all know that if you dare to defend yourself, during an home invasion, you are in BIG trouble and the criminal will sue you.

If they are descendants of Tibetan mastiff then they should be

So many health issues from in breeding..🐾💔🤐
Most of the health issues honestly are associated with people not testing their dogs before breeding
All guardian breeds should be tested accordingly. The pig pug nosed registered Rottweilers is a sham and unhealthy.
The Rottweiler is indeed a beautiful breed however the docking of there tail needs to be stopped as I feel that this is the cruelest thing to do to a dog or to any breed of dog if it's simply for cosmetic looks and in some countries it it is illegal and rightfully so
thankfully more countries are banning the docking/cropping of dogs! we shouldnt mutilate dogs just for our selfish reasons.
Agree!
Its done for medical reasons.
Low iq retards
@@scrotalhanger9351 we're not mad if its done for medical purposes. I've had 2 dogs with docked tails 1 because of frost bit the other was broken beyond repair. That being said the VAST majority of dogs with docked tails is done so for looks and looks ALONE.
Our country allows it for medical and asthetic reasons.
I love your video but I didn't like the black and white pictures, videos! If you won't to see a fun home Halloween video called Rottweiler save the day! The after saving mom and carving pumpkins/ war! M&M turns into werewolf!! Our video shows you can train them to do a job with out hurting anyone!!

DOGS NEED THEIR TAILS AND EARS TO COMMUNICATE GRRRRRRRR!!
Why do they cut off the tails of Rottweilers?
It's almost always done for "looks." Some breeds, like boxers, dobermans and rottweilers, have had docked tails for so long, people just consider it normal. However, there is no good reason to do it. It's painful for the dog, obviously, and can lead to some health problems, although that's not common.
Tail docking should be banned world wide in my personal opinion it's cruel and is barbaric and it's unnecessary
Why do you cut the tail of a Rottweiler?
Its a common practice of docking tails which used to be carried out till some years back. It was commonly done among the working, hunting or herding breeds of the dogs such as the rottweilers, boxers, pinchers. ... But since, now dogs are no more used for working purposes it is done nowadays for cosmetic purpose.
Brittany Rozenberg Hollander You are an idiot.
It is for their protection = these dogs like the dobs, boxers, mastiffs are GLADIATORS, some had to protect sheep against wolves, they are not pointers or golden retrievers- can you imagine how long would a man with a hip pony tail would last in a cage - no rules - fight ? Or in any street fight - unless you are Steven Seagal...
Have you BRITANNY - ever noticed that all fighters have shaved heads?
@Austin
Shes a tofu eating libtard and an ignoramus.
its done when the tail is soft cartileage they barely notice barbaric what a idiot not more than a pinch boo fuckin hoo
Shame do you know that
stick to breed documentaries and SOME training... leave the nutrition out you don't know enough about it......
