Germany´s MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE - it´s official!

  • Today, I´m searching for the legends of Föhr…
We´ll have coffee and cake in Germany´s prettiest village….
And then we´ll see sights you maybe never imagined you´d see in Germany…
    a beautiful windmill,
the ancient site of a place most sacred,
and I´ll tell you the tale of the Knight Klaus Lembeck.
And then we´ll drive right to end of the island, where the North Sea kisses the shores. And when she ebbs, if you are brave enough and you know these parts well enough, you can walk across the mud flats to the neighbouring island of Amrum.
All of this, on just one island….
    Föhr
My meditative videos show a calming and artistic view of the places I visit and the quiet, peaceful wanders I take through them. Medieval villages, picturesque cottages, beautiful cities. Relax and escape with me from the busy bustling world to my dreamy and serene slow living way of seeing my surroundings. Experience the magic of peering into the past and being in a fairytale, just for a little while.

I feel a strong desire to share these moments of beauty with you, in the hope that it will also lift your spirits. All my videos will be calm and with no loud noises or sudden bright lights. 👼

Thank you for this wonderful video! I live in Nieblum and have shared this with a Facebook group of Föhrer descendants in the USA. Many have neither been here nor speak German, so this was very welcome. I‘ve heard that it also brought a few tears to the eyes of some emigrants.

Dear Susan, I cannot express how happy your comment has made me. Actually, I have happy tears right now! This is exactly why I make these videos. So many people might never be able to visit beautiful Germany, and the places they originate from. I will be making one about Wyk, soon, and there is one filmed on Utersum beach already on my channel. Best wishes and many thanks, Lauren

Beautiful. My dad was born on Föhr in the village of Oldsum and left when he was 17 in 1922. In 1980, I took him & my mom to the island for a vacation. It was the 1st time he returned to the island of his birth. He was able to be reacquainted with family and to meet his brother who was born after he left the island. It will always be the best vacation I ever had, seeing the places where your father grew up with your father.

Many residents of Föhr emigrated to the USA - it is said that half of the Föhr residents live in the USA. In New York, the Föhrer's delicatessens were very popular. ;-) ... a little story ... of a ship engineer who visited his relatives in New York in their delicatessen. Potato salad was just being prepared and the guest was able to help immediately. After the job was done, the sailor said, "I haven't had such clean hands in years!" ;-)

I would phrase it the other way round. This area between North and Baltic Sea is the area, where the Angles lived. One region is even today called Angeln (land of the Angles). Many of them entered their boats in Hollingstedt, which was the North Sea port at that time and sailed to their new home in Britain. And took their way of building houses with them…
