second time I'm saying this, but Schlager Lucas videos are both better in terms of quality and you'll get a better understanding of the songs as well + they have the 2024 versions as well and the translations of the songs

If a Swedish act does poorly in Eurovision, they're treated like a national embarrassment in the media! 😅
Btw, "Boogaloo" wasn't originally called that, it was called "Fyra Bugg och en Coca-Cola", but they weren't allowed to use brand names so the title had to be changed!

If you react to SchlagerLucas compilations instead, then you will get translations of the song titles, when it's not in English.

Sweden was the first country (that doesn't have English as their official language) to send a song in English, "Absent Friend" in 1965. In 1966 they made a rule forcing all countries to only send songs in their official languages, and that rule lasted until 1972. So ABBA was able to sing "Waterloo" in English. Who knows if the rule had been still in place, perhaps they wouldn't have won, and even if they had, they would probably not been known in all the world if it had been only in Swedish. In 1978 the rule forcing countries to only only send songs in their official languages was back, and it lasted until 1998, so Charlotte Perelli was able to sing "Take Me to Your Heaven" and win in 1999. Since then all countries has been free to send songs in what ever language they prefer.

Why not state the number of wins while you're on it? Sweden and Ireland have seven wins each.

@@Vinterfrid Could have, but I did't feel like googeling it, I really don't care about ESC, but för nerds that cares about stats in detail, it's not difficult to find the info

ABBA participated twice in Melodifestivalen, in 1973 with "Ring Ring" and came 3rd, and in 1974 with "Waterloo" and won.
