Wow hope no one was hurt. What is amazing is that an Autorack Train went thru there on a slow order, the exact same thing happened when i was filming a derailment! An Autorack went thru at 5 MPH
A few years ago I got to watch the Corman crew at work for three days. There is no doubt that they knew what they were doing. The thing that really impressed me was that didn't all come from one location. The wreck happened about 14:00 on a Saturday, I got on scene about 02:00 Monday morning. This scene was about two hours north on the Me NH border on Interstate 95. They had all the equipment set up and had started to sort things out. Keep in mind they had come from all over the north east section of the country some from as far away as Virginia and western New York. I don't know how long it took to set every thing up, but breaking it all down took about 4 hours. Around noon on Thursday they were all loaded up and headed home. I earned that you don't want to live anywhere near train tracks. Four boxcars in a straight line were out in the deep woods. Pretty impressive amount of force. Merry Christmas.
That was very nice of them to let you get that close to the derailment to make a video of the clean-up of the derailment most train companies don't allow it at all and you could still make a video of trains passing by you at the sametime what a awesome video Jawtooth everytime
You actually are allowed to watch and video derailments as long as you stay off of the railroad property and don't interfere with the recovery process also people can't do public news broadcasting as if they are part of news media or a journalist you can only do things such as videos for fun and for private use if you are a hobbyist learning ways of doing a model layout.

I would love to see one of those "Audit" You Tubers trying to get into those railroad crews business. But they only seem to antagonize public officials and police. Guess they know construction and railroad will beat this azzes...
Great catch. I’m always amazed how quickly a mess like this one is cleared out so fast. Time is money, so getting back to normal operations is vital. Corman is really a group of professionals.
One thing I am certain sure of they have all the equipment to get the engines and cars back on the line and upright in a jiffy. Business as usual. These heavy engines and cars have me sitting dow for hours watching how they get everything in order again. Good job.
Amazing video footage so close to the derailment, glad no one was seriously hurt and no chemicals onboard any cars leaked or caught fire. You’re the best Jawtooth
My husband has worked for RJC for 20 years doing this. The equipment are booms. He has ran those the most. This is the Nicholasville Kentucky crew where he started.
I filmed another one years ago that Corman cleaned up in Lewisburg, Kentucky just south of Maysville. Was he on that cleanup by any chance? It was a loaded TTI coal train that went into the creek. I never posted it though
kman 4443 They don’t pay that great starting out. I talked to them about a conductor position in Princeton, IN(switching contract for a vehicle manufacturer), and the starting pay was $16/hr.
Love watching RJ Corman operations. Just so interesting how they disengage all the piled up stuff. Great catch JT, you were in the right place and they let you get pretty close once the stuff was stabilized. Merry Christmas and looking forward to 2020.
I lived near the reading rail road, exactly where rocky was filmed. I and a friend watched a derailment in the early 60's and they had a steam powered crane lift the box cars back onto the tracks. That railroad did not retire all their steam engines until the mid 60's. watching one of those beasts in action was amazing indeed.
Another brilliant video Brian , nice to read that you were allowed in to film, must be your name that opens doors for you. As you rightly say being polite and asking never hurts.
It’s strange that you got the permission to get closer when companies like these do not like anybody to see or know of any derailments. Also especially for security reasons.
I was actually surprised but it never hurts to ask. You should see the derailment that I got to photo in Kentucky. I haven't posted that video yet but it was a big coal train derailment that RJ Corman had to work. If you talk to the right person and stay out of the way you would be surprised what you can photo. I have had them show me around and give me great info that even the news stations can't get. The key is to be polite and be quick.

when the auto train came, thats a “but wait! theres more!” moment. good to know the CSX derailment wasnt at a railroad crossing. 2 reasons why derailments are worse at railroad crossings 1. old signals get replaced 2. traffic wouldnt be able to get through
I have another video of a derailment that I am working on. Its old but it is interesting. It will be a slide show video but I want to film the area to show what it looks like today
I saw that, we used to live a few miles from there. Interesting that the derailment was so extensive. Fortunately no one hurt. I remember one year, faced with flooding, they parked gondolas loaded with coal, on the bridge, to help anchor it against the water flow.
Pass that area near weekly since working out of a new warehouse along the river. Weird and awesome to see it all here on TH-cam from just 10 months ago!
There was also a derailment in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia on CSX’s Shenandoah Subdivision last Saturday and two cars fell into the Potomac River, and from what I could tell from the pictures the train string lined, considering the cars were empty.
Wow that was quite a derailment. Pretty bad. You covered it well. I enjoyed the video. Thanks Jawtooth and wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 👍👍👍❤️
Well Christmas was yesterday for me and it's Boxing Day now, but wow that derailment was something else! Those sidewinders they use are awesome for cleaning up derailments! And that lane of traffic marked with them orange cones I’m surprised that they haven’t had a big wreck with car’s there and you were definitely to close to the road if you ask me. Bad couple of days for CSX, which had another freight derail in WV on a trestle over the Potomac. Given the sharpness of that curve, I wonder if the train string lined. Great catch, JT.

Maybe kman meant the Corman company gets paid well for the cleanup, not the employees pay.
