I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir, but a good speed upgrade for Tamiya's now is to run the stock motor on 3s. Tamiya moving to Hobbywing ESC's was the best thing they've done in ages.
The motor may be performing, but it's definitely not cooling anymore You need a lower turn motor (assuming you're staying brushed) that will give you more rpm. If you still aren't increasing in mph, try a lower tooth pinion 👍

That’s something we could certainly do moving forward.
I have been doing just this for years now, like you say best upgrade
That motor has had it.
I think it’s time to switch it out.
The bits of plastic are the cooling fan inside the motor, loosing bits wont help with the balance. Motor upgrade.
Thanks. Time for a switch of motor I guess

Looks like motor upgrade is getting bumped up. Decreased weight is great
Going to switch the motor and move down the pinions to see a comparison.
Disconnect the rear transmission . More power to the front wheel drive with less power loss . May even be able to gear up further ?
Thanks for the advice and for taking a look.
Ftx 20t 540 motor on 3s 😊
Nothings off the table
Definitely change the motor.
I’m thinking so too
That motor is bad, it needs to go 😵
