I think horror games having the infinite ammo/invincibility/etc.. locked behind beating the game in the hardest way is meant to give you a way to go back through and take out all your frustration and anger on the critters that tormented you for however many hours it took to unlock the thing in the first place.
I definitely got that Goldeneye cheat but it took a few weeks. I don't know if they updated it later on, but I remember there being a few other random spawns that messed with my run. It is possible that I am remembering it incorrectly since it was nearly 25 years ago but there's no way I'm ever forgetting the Facility itself.
I didn't know until just now that you could get the golden gun and infinite ammo with a cheat code. Im one of those guys with the weird controller wall damage. lol
7:24 I love getting these rings. Here's my tip if you want to get them both at the same time, like I did. First, farm the crap out of the Giant Lord using bonfire aethstetics in regular NG. Don't use any of his soul drops though. Then play NG+. Use Santier's Spear so you don't have to worry about weapon durrability, and ignore everything and go straight to the Shrine of Winter. Pop the Giant lord souls until they open, and you can skip some of the most annoying sections of the game. You only need to beat Nashandra to get the rings.
The Metal Gear series has two. The stealth suit: Complete the game without being detected. Unlimited Ammo Bandana: Complete the game without killing anyone.
How about in mgs3, snake eater shooting all the kodama for the stealth? That was way harder than any other mgs game or any on this list imo.. That shit took forever to do
Neither of those are anywhere near the hardest challenges in Metal Gear. Getting all the Dogtags in every mode in Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 is harder. It is one of those challenges where the final one you need is nearly impossible to get. I just could not get that last one. Same with 1 box in Crash Bandicoot 2.
These are actually not THAT hard, since you can take all your sweet time and save and reload as often as you want with them, the guard patterns never change so it's all down to observation and remembering their patrol routes. And you can then use them in a New Game+ to your hearts content and have a blast with them.

Ah yes. The two illusionary rings. Man was that one hell of a trip lol. I can clearly remember that my hands ended up sweating a lot back then. Especially with some of those boss fights. It was hectic, but a lot of fun. I was quite proud of myself after managing to obtain both of them after just two playthroughs. It is just a pity that Dark Souls 2 is mostly abandoned now. Would have been fun to use those things rings again. Even if it was just for the joke of it all.

@adriaanvanvuuren8581 NP! I will say it's easier to do them on separate playthroughs. I wouldn't recommend doing it the way I did 😅 especially considering like I said I went through the dlc areas and it took my forever and was so stressful haha.
Thankfully the Mass Effect Legendary Edition makes it so it's only 5 quests you have to do with Liara and other squad members for trophies, but sadly like a lot of modern games now no fun or good cheats.

I have 3 younger brother's and boy was golden eye huge in our house, my parents banned the golden gun because it would just start fights haha, also we used to put cardboard in the middle of the screen to stop screen watcher's. Good times.
In the game Killer is Dead, there was a final upgrade that allowed the protagonist to constantly use his ultimate ability which was a finishing move if I can remember correctly. It was fun. It did sort of break the game because every enemy immediately died. I do not remember how to unlock aforementioned final upgrade but it took awhile.
Man unlocking all the Goldeneye AND Perfect Dark stuff, was just like you described. Half figuring out/practicing the perfect speed run, half replaying for the optimal rng and then full on butt clinching trying not to screw it up when everything was going well
This video reminds me of getting all the Stray Beads in Okami. Literally have to play through the game entirely to get them all because one it collected for beating the game, so you can only even use the rewards (infinite health and ink) in later playthroughs.
The Dead Space 2 Hand Canon is fun for a bit but then it becomes boring. Probably doesn't help that you've likely played through the game numerous times by the time you unlock it. Also, the Xbox 360 version of DS2 is probably the easiest way to unlock it. When the game came out, initially, the game treated the disc change as a checkpoint. So, if you managed to get to the second disc without using a save, you basically had a free checkpoint in the event you fucked up, like I did. Also, if you got the preorder bonuses, they also made the early game pretty easy. You got a good suit with plenty of inventory slots so you didn't have to worry about running out of space. I also found the enemies in Hard mode to be more difficult than the ones in Hard Core. Ammo wasn't as plentiful, but the enemies didn't feel any more difficult to deal with. It might have been more to do with the fact that I had gotten used to the game and had everything figured out that it became easy anyhow. Biggest problem was always those shitty quick time events that were too easy to mess up. But outside of that, it was mostly a cakewalk. The hardest part of the game, IMO, is the part where you're riding the drill and enemies are constantly coming in from every angle and even then I didn't have a problem with it because I knew which guns worked best for the scenario. Dead Space is so much fun. It's a shame 3 was ass.
When I was 16, I watched my cousin run through the GoldenEye level in less than two minutes like it was nothing. He was that gamer on another level before there was online console gaming. Loved watching him play games.
I beat RE7 on madhouse my first time playing it, cause my brother had beat it on easy. Madhouse difficulty should've been unlockable from the Start because it was an unbeliveable experience. So intense.
Number 2: Wrex was also a good pick. Gave you health regen even if you aren't playing Soldier. If you are playing Soldier; it just makes it better. If you add Health regen mods on top of both of those = you are God. Biotic not included ; ) ** Should note: The game also keeps track of how many missions you did... so it takes maybe 2 or 3 playthroughs in general at worst.
Whenever there was a "cheat" ability in a game which was awarded by beating the game 100% at the highest difficulty level (difficulty level that usually itself unlocks by beating the game at the "base" highest difficulty level...), I always felt I was the one cheated by the game, instead than the other way around. You get the OP ability you've been missing for 40 to maybe 150 hours of gameplay, and immediately you stop playing the game forever, as there's nothing left to do in there for you. That's fraud if you ask me! (LOL! ... But also OUCH!) Thanks for your videos!
Dark souls 2 is brutal the fact that you had to beat the game without dying with that type of hit boxes makes it near impossible. Plus not resting, Definitely not worth the rings because no one even plays Ds2 pvp anymore 💀
The dark souls 2 rings are great, wish they were in other games. However since they only make the weapons invisible they're useless in normal play. I have them but they're much easier to get in NG+. Otherwise they're really fun to use, swinging or casting invisible items

Heard of a cheat. That will make a highway come up near the docks in Vice City. With the ride on water cheat you can go to the highway. If you ride on the highway at night, it will take you to a futuristic city.
I remember in Skyrim, in order to unlock the Ebony warrior boss battle, U need to reach lvl 81 and in order to do that by normal means is just so time consuming, with a few mods on PC is less of a bore, but still if u don't cheat or use console commands U will spend and entire day just grinding for max alchemy over and over, which btw is very proftable way to get filthy rich in the game, like my previous run I had 200k septims just by selling OP potions
Deadly Premonition had a decent story, atmosphere, and interesting characters, but the gameplay…oof. As a love letter to Twin Peaks it was mission accomplished. But as a game? Wow…some of it was a real slog. ESPECIALLY the driving sections. The gunplay was bad, yes, but the driving was downright sadistic.
In DS2 i used illusory rings with a brass knuckle and a long ass katana. Started punching like crazy, animation actually hits with the other hand too. so people though I was bare handed boxing or something. Than the special Katana strikes ''hides your fists'' to charge, and hits like 10 km away. Classic unfair instakill. Fun though
I think that, if I played through a game on maximum difficulty to unlock a cheat, I wouldn't want to use the cheat, or even play the game again, because I've conquered the game at its hardest. Job done. Why play it again with cheats?
If you've completed resident evil on madhouse, then why would you want to restart again? If it's a open world game fair enough but a linea game boring.
The Eternal Darkness cheat made me so sad when I unlocked it. All that work, and what I wanted more than anything was infinite health, infinite ammo and ALWAYS EMPTY sanity!
I hate cheats that have to be unlocked by playing the game on hardest difficulties. What's the point then? You only have the cheat once you're done with the game. Especially the infinite ammo cheats that would usually make the games more fun, but nightmare difficulties have made me hate the game enough to never play it again.

I am not hard-core. So I hate games I pay for that have, even on easy difficulty, made me rage quit. I can't even list them all. On the Playstation and the PS2-era games I could get some cheats on websites or in guides and this would get me over a tough fight or a steep learning curve, and once through that part I was always free to turn cheats off. I find it ironic that games used to have "cheats" on the menu, welcoming players to do what they had to in order to get around a timed mission like the mall window smash mission in Grand Theft Auto Vice City. Laugh if you want, but I was always coming up short. It's not some late game level I wanted to quit on. By contrast, on ps4, the first game I wanted to play was Call of Duty: World War Two. All I had to do was see the trailer. But it turned into one of my worst gaming experiences ever, and that's saying something since I played Escape:ODT on the original Playstation. When I'm beaten fair and square, I'll admit it. But when a game's unfair, there's nothing you can do these days except for Rockstar Games, and most, if any cheats, have to be unlocked by the very mission or side quest (!) you're on. Devs don't care, either. They've already made their money. Looking back, I'm staggered by just how far I made it in COD: WW2. I wasn't good enough to do all that! Then again, there's no XP or leveling up. Not one cheat code. Never did finish it, the piece of garbage disk and its case sit, like new, in my collection of games I'm sorry I bought. What good is a cheat to us if we have to beat a game on the highest setting to get it? That's not a cheat, Falcon, it's a perk, and I've no interest in those...but good work on this list, you never seem to run out of worthy material! 🎉
This video is fun. Nice to hear that there are still unlockable cheats around. I feel nowadays once you beat a game you get nothing but a harder level... At least. Anything that resembles a cheat or unlockable is just sold as DLC at this point.
I got the Super Sonic cheat in Sonic Colors and while it was a little on the tedious side; it wasn't all that bad. Back when Colors was on the Wii, I ended up completing the game 5 times (all 180 Red Rings and S Ranks) just for the fun of it. When Colors Ultimate came out, I only did it once but then had the save data corruption that wiped my progress after I had done everything so I had to do it all over again. One game that was truly challenging to unlock was Super Dante from the first Devil May Cry game. Completing the game's top difficulty (Dante Must Die) enabled players to have Dante with unlimited Devil Trigger gauge which is a worthwhile reward for making it through brutal challenge. I remember my fight against final boss; my successful attempt took 90 minutes; my attacks were doing minimal damage whereas if I got hit, I lost nearly all my health so I had to do everything almost perfectly. Somehow I made it back then but I don't think I could do it again.
Number 10 is made easy if you get the circular saw unlocked first. It's still tough, but now you have a weapon that does massive damage and makes most enimies a joke.

Resident evil 4 didn’t come out with infinite ammo to buy. In order for you to get infinite ammo. You needed to beat professional mode with a S+ rating. When I did that i felt good until they started those golden tickets like bro. Wtf man. Lol threw away my achievement in the garbage.
6:07 Silicon Knights made great games, Eternal Darkness was kick ass for its time. I wish Too Human did better than it did because the game was super fun.
A bonus should have been the Tales Of games. After beating the game you can use point you've accumulated to "buy" cheats for a New Game+. Things like take all your items, more damage, or even harder enemies.
Resident evil 7 wasn't so hard I've done it 3 times once on ps4 another on X box one and another time on ps5 you just need patience. What's really hard is RE 4s cat ears
The special sword you get in the MediEvil remake for completing the carnival mini games. It is a chore to get, there are a lot of levels just to get 1 ticket and when you get it, it gets obsolet after level 5 when you get a better sword.
Oh, i need to add one: Nioh's *infinity arrows bow* ... actualy only unlockable by beating 999 stages in abyss mode. But the worst part it's is a random drop, so... and Nioh's rng is crazy! You can even top that if you try to get an infinity bow with a matching grace (Tachibana one as example) wich has a drop chance of 0.01% (lvl.320/140)... oh boy!!! 😆😅😅😂 That's tough af to get, but worth the effort, cause you never run out of arrows anymore + also works with the "blessed" ones! For sure one of the toughest items to get in a game!
I've unlocked the GoldenEye cheat I didn't remember it being super hard just a little frustrating. I also unlocked the Dead Space 2 finger gun I didn't really find it that difficult just because that's how much I love that game
And additionally I just like to add that I've played every Dead Space game and I did all three of them using only the plasma cutter. I was pretty disappointed there was not an achievement for doing it on three even though they said they weren't going to do one for it I did it anyway.
I remember I almost got the 2 rings in DS2 in 1 run, then for whatever reason I decided jumping into quicksand was a good idea it wasn't an accident I jumped in on purpose.
No Resident Evil 4,the Hand cannon? the most powerful gun in game, 3/4 power the rocket launcher, 6 round capicity and unlocked by betting S-rank in mercenary mode (with all 5 characters)
Hmmmm......sorry, but there's another that should be on your list. Getting X's Ultimate Armor in Mega Man X5 without using the code. There is a hidden Light Capsule very late in the game that gives it, and it requires going to a stage that, once cleared, can't be repeated and you have to use Unarmored X to get it. This stage is nearly impossible to get through without an armor. Also, if you didn't use the code for Black Zero you can get Zero's Black Armor from the same Light Capsule. This one is easier to do, but still fairly challenging. I've done both, and all I have to say is never again will I use that method for X's Ultimate Armor.

The ones I hated were the play hardmode, beat the game, which unlocks Masochist Level. Start over in this mode, but now yoy need to beat it under some ridiculous time limit, or don't take damage or no saving or some combination of those requirements together. And then you get God Mode. Thank you for not only stealing my life to play once, but numerous times after that just so I could stay within the requirements. Nothing worse that getting close to the end and having some overinflated boss that gets splinters of damage from your most powerful move and then f'up and lose because after hours of time you have lost your mental edge. Just so I can now play yet another cycle effortlessly. Most times, if I beat hardmode, I was done. I really don't play games that put you throgh a shredder, only to offer me the chance to play super hardmode, which makes normal hardmode seem like a casual stroll through the game, in hopes I may get to walk through the game really effortlessly. Nowadays, I just want to walk away from reality and have some fun, not try to re-earn my formative year's cred from being an arcade kid on that crazy treadmill of having to actually be good, so as to not put every single dollar you had into this hobby.
I miss the time singleplayer games had cheats that was fun. Like flying cars in GTA SA or useful ones like in jak 3 that you can buy infinite ammo. Ratchet and clank rift apart had unlimited ammo, which wanted me to do the gold bolts just to have unlimited ammo. Working for it feels better than just pressing som buttons tho.
I used to have a hole in my wall shaped like an Xbox 360 controller. Too many Straight punch glitchers/spammers in a row while playing Fight Night Champion.
Honestly DS2’s isn’t that bad. Just do both on your first playthrough and make the most OP build you can route out to melt the already easily melted game. Bear in mind that DS2 is not the hardest Souls game or even in the top ten hardest Soulslikes. You might be thinking ‘But wouldn’t that build become permanent?’ Now, DS2 is the game that introduced the mechanic that lets you change your stats and the item you use to do it is easy to stockpile.

You need to make it through Ocelots torture scene to the unlock the bandana. If you give in you get Ocelots stealth suit.

Whenever there was a "cheat" ability in a game which was awarded by beating the game 100% at the highest difficulty level (difficulty level that usually itself unlocks by beating the game at the "base" highest difficulty level...),
I always felt I was the one cheated by the game, instead than the other way around.
You get the OP ability you've been missing for 40 to maybe 150 hours of gameplay,
and immediately you stop playing the game forever, as there's nothing left to do in there for you.
That's fraud if you ask me!

Dark souls 2 is brutal the fact that you had to beat the game without dying with that type of hit boxes makes it near impossible. Plus not resting, Definitely not worth the rings because no one even plays Ds2 pvp anymore 💀
The dark souls 2 rings are great, wish they were in other games. However since they only make the weapons invisible they're useless in normal play. I have them but they're much easier to get in NG+. Otherwise they're really fun to use, swinging or casting invisible items

My oldest brother got the invincibility cheat in 007 Goldeneye shortly after it came out.......so you're right.....I never managed to do it myself 😭😭😭

Heard of a cheat. That will make a highway come up near the docks in Vice City. With the ride on water cheat you can go to the highway. If you ride on the highway at night, it will take you to a futuristic city.
I remember using a cheat code in the main menu of puyo-puyo Tetris to unlock every character with zero effort.
I remember in Skyrim, in order to unlock the Ebony warrior boss battle, U need to reach lvl 81 and in order to do that by normal means is just so time consuming, with a few mods on PC is less of a bore, but still if u don't cheat or use console commands U will spend and entire day just grinding for max alchemy over and over, which btw is very proftable way to get filthy rich in the game, like my previous run I had 200k septims just by selling OP potions
Fun fact on the 007 side - on the XB port, the XB app tracks 2 stats. Time playing game - and facility runs 😂 took me 137 attempts 😅

Deadly Premonition had a decent story, atmosphere, and interesting characters, but the gameplay…oof. As a love letter to Twin Peaks it was mission accomplished. But as a game? Wow…some of it was a real slog. ESPECIALLY the driving sections. The gunplay was bad, yes, but the driving was downright sadistic.
In DS2 i used illusory rings with a brass knuckle and a long ass katana.
Started punching like crazy, animation actually hits with the other hand too. so people though I was bare handed boxing or something.
Than the special Katana strikes ''hides your fists'' to charge, and hits like 10 km away.

I think that, if I played through a game on maximum difficulty to unlock a cheat, I wouldn't want to use the cheat, or even play the game again, because I've conquered the game at its hardest. Job done. Why play it again with cheats?
If you've completed resident evil on madhouse, then why would you want to restart again? If it's a open world game fair enough but a linea game boring.
The Eternal Darkness cheat made me so sad when I unlocked it. All that work, and what I wanted more than anything was infinite health, infinite ammo and ALWAYS EMPTY sanity!
I hate cheats that have to be unlocked by playing the game on hardest difficulties. What's the point then? You only have the cheat once you're done with the game. Especially the infinite ammo cheats that would usually make the games more fun, but nightmare difficulties have made me hate the game enough to never play it again.

My first madhouse run I died over 40 times fighting mia in the beginning. It didn't get any easier after that
I am not hard-core. So I hate games I pay for that have, even on easy difficulty, made me rage quit. I can't even list them all. On the Playstation and the PS2-era games I could get some cheats on websites or in guides and this would get me over a tough fight or a steep learning curve, and once through that part I was always free to turn cheats off. I find it ironic that games used to have "cheats" on the menu, welcoming players to do what they had to in order to get around a timed mission like the mall window smash mission in Grand Theft Auto Vice City. Laugh if you want, but I was always coming up short. It's not some late game level I wanted to quit on. By contrast, on ps4, the first game I wanted to play was Call of Duty: World War Two. All I had to do was see the trailer. But it turned into one of my worst gaming experiences ever, and that's saying something since I played Escape:ODT on the original Playstation.
When I'm beaten fair and square, I'll admit it. But when a game's unfair, there's nothing you can do these days except for Rockstar Games, and most, if any cheats, have to be unlocked by the very mission or side quest (!) you're on. Devs don't care, either. They've already made their money. Looking back, I'm staggered by just how far I made it in COD: WW2. I wasn't good enough to do all that! Then again, there's no XP or leveling up. Not one cheat code. Never did finish it, the piece of garbage disk and its case sit, like new, in my collection of games I'm sorry I bought.
What good is a cheat to us if we have to beat a game on the highest setting to get it? That's not a cheat, Falcon, it's a perk, and I've no interest in those...but good work on this list, you never seem to run out of worthy material! 🎉

I got the Super Sonic cheat in Sonic Colors and while it was a little on the tedious side; it wasn't all that bad. Back when Colors was on the Wii, I ended up completing the game 5 times (all 180 Red Rings and S Ranks) just for the fun of it. When Colors Ultimate came out, I only did it once but then had the save data corruption that wiped my progress after I had done everything so I had to do it all over again.
One game that was truly challenging to unlock was Super Dante from the first Devil May Cry game. Completing the game's top difficulty (Dante Must Die) enabled players to have Dante with unlimited Devil Trigger gauge which is a worthwhile reward for making it through brutal challenge. I remember my fight against final boss; my successful attempt took 90 minutes; my attacks were doing minimal damage whereas if I got hit, I lost nearly all my health so I had to do everything almost perfectly. Somehow I made it back then but I don't think I could do it again.

Number 10 is made easy if you get the circular saw unlocked first. It's still tough, but now you have a weapon that does massive damage and makes most enimies a joke.
Yeah madhouse was still tricky in places but the saw made madhouse very doable

Resident evil 4 didn’t come out with infinite ammo to buy. In order for you to get infinite ammo. You needed to beat professional mode with a S+ rating. When I did that i felt good until they started those golden tickets like bro. Wtf man. Lol threw away my achievement in the garbage.
6:07 Silicon Knights made great games, Eternal Darkness was kick ass for its time. I wish Too Human did better than it did because the game was super fun.

A bonus should have been the Tales Of games. After beating the game you can use point you've accumulated to "buy" cheats for a New Game+. Things like take all your items, more damage, or even harder enemies.

Resident evil 7 wasn't so hard I've done it 3 times once on ps4 another on X box one and another time on ps5 you just need patience. What's really hard is RE 4s cat ears

The special sword you get in the MediEvil remake for completing the carnival mini games. It is a chore to get, there are a lot of levels just to get 1 ticket and when you get it, it gets obsolet after level 5 when you get a better sword.

Oh, i need to add one: Nioh's *infinity arrows bow* ... actualy only unlockable by beating 999 stages in abyss mode. But the worst part it's is a random drop, so... and Nioh's rng is crazy! You can even top that if you try to get an infinity bow with a matching grace (Tachibana one as example) wich has a drop chance of 0.01% (lvl.320/140)... oh boy!!! 😆😅😅😂 That's tough af to get, but worth the effort, cause you never run out of arrows anymore + also works with the "blessed" ones! For sure one of the toughest items to get in a game!
Eternal Darkness was so fun. It needs a proper spiritual successor.

I've unlocked the GoldenEye cheat I didn't remember it being super hard just a little frustrating. I also unlocked the Dead Space 2 finger gun I didn't really find it that difficult just because that's how much I love that game
And additionally I just like to add that I've played every Dead Space game and I did all three of them using only the plasma cutter. I was pretty disappointed there was not an achievement for doing it on three even though they said they weren't going to do one for it I did it anyway.

No Resident Evil 4,the Hand cannon? the most powerful gun in game, 3/4 power the rocket launcher, 6 round capicity and unlocked by betting S-rank in mercenary mode (with all 5 characters)
Hmmmm......sorry, but there's another that should be on your list. Getting X's Ultimate Armor in Mega Man X5 without using the code. There is a hidden Light Capsule very late in the game that gives it, and it requires going to a stage that, once cleared, can't be repeated and you have to use Unarmored X to get it. This stage is nearly impossible to get through without an armor.
Also, if you didn't use the code for Black Zero you can get Zero's Black Armor from the same Light Capsule. This one is easier to do, but still fairly challenging.
I've done both, and all I have to say is never again will I use that method for X's Ultimate Armor.

The ones I hated were the play hardmode, beat the game, which unlocks Masochist Level. Start over in this mode, but now yoy need to beat it under some ridiculous time limit, or don't take damage or no saving or some combination of those requirements together. And then you get God Mode. Thank you for not only stealing my life to play once, but numerous times after that just so I could stay within the requirements. Nothing worse that getting close to the end and having some overinflated boss that gets splinters of damage from your most powerful move and then f'up and lose because after hours of time you have lost your mental edge. Just so I can now play yet another cycle effortlessly. Most times, if I beat hardmode, I was done. I really don't play games that put you throgh a shredder, only to offer me the chance to play super hardmode, which makes normal hardmode seem like a casual stroll through the game, in hopes I may get to walk through the game really effortlessly. Nowadays, I just want to walk away from reality and have some fun, not try to re-earn my formative year's cred from being an arcade kid on that crazy treadmill of having to actually be good, so as to not put every single dollar you had into this hobby.
#10 Play RE 7 on lowest difficulty and try to unlock circular chainsaw. Then play madhouse with that, it makes everything a joke.
I miss the time singleplayer games had cheats that was fun. Like flying cars in GTA SA or useful ones like in jak 3 that you can buy infinite ammo. Ratchet and clank rift apart had unlimited ammo, which wanted me to do the gold bolts just to have unlimited ammo. Working for it feels better than just pressing som buttons tho.

Honestly DS2’s isn’t that bad. Just do both on your first playthrough and make the most OP build you can route out to melt the already easily melted game. Bear in mind that DS2 is not the hardest Souls game or even in the top ten hardest Soulslikes. You might be thinking ‘But wouldn’t that build become permanent?’ Now, DS2 is the game that introduced the mechanic that lets you change your stats and the item you use to do it is easy to stockpile.
