Alex Skolnick = How To Stand Out In An Endless Sea Of Metal Guitarists
Alex has long been one of my fave players. So awesome to see him and Jason in a longer vid [in fact, it could have been twice as long]. Alex really is a fantastically tasty, melodic player, no matter the genre.
As for those "haters", they are the very definition of irony and of course should be ignored, as Alex says. The fact of the matter is that without Alex' background in jazz, the very things that distinguish his heavier playing style would very likely not result in such melodically memorable and impressive lines.
Alex, do come to Hong Kong one day! Bring your jazz trio. Play your heavier side. Whatever. Honestly, guitar lovers in Hong Kong are NOT in short supply these days. Just ask Andy Timmons, Nick Johnston, Chick Corea, Periphery and Animals as Leaders...You can even ask that Hetfield fellow. ;)
Continued success to Alex and Jason! Great, great content! Definitely need MORE of these long-form "In Depth with Jason and Ishibashi..." vids.

What a fantastic comment. Thank you as always Joe. "You can even ask that Hetfield fellow". Hahahaha!!! GOLD!!!
I'm going to send this to Alex including your comment. You never know, he may get over there. Time will tell.
As for more long form videos, that's easier said than done. I do have a couple of others which I am in the midst of editing. They will be out soon. Also my interview with Pete Thorn is a longer interview and fairly in depth as well. I think you would enjoy that one.

GREAT VIDEO JASON MAN.......this visit with Alex was just as good as having the BOTH of you sitting in my living room enjoying a nice afternoon of playing and chatting it up! I for one have ALWAYS loved Alex's "Blues Playing"....so much so that I find myself incredibly HAPPY after hearing him "Stretch The Notes" as I like to say......he's a Certified Wonder to be sure! Jason...that "Vintage Instrument booth" behind where you and Alex sat put me into Homer J Simpson spasms WITH noise and drool...LOL. I could stand there for hours and just eye ball each and every lovely instrument in there...AND....come back the next day and start all over. Thanks again Mate for Delivering The Goods....Joe Satchton below said it best...That could have well been a TWO HOUR VIDEO and it STILL would NOT be long enough! Yes, your Fans have become greedy...in a good way though...Smiles!!! CHEERS FROM OHIO

Thanks Stuport!! That's the feel I was going for so I'm stoked to know that came across that way. Maybe one day (if I ever get time) I can do a video on some of the vintage stock we have in here. The problem with doing that is stock comes & goes all the time. Keeping that current would be more work that I have time for. Nice to know you appreciated the backdrop though. You'll be happy to know that was Alex's idea.
      Cheers!

YES! The 440S. My first guitar, a black 440s (after a cheap Squire). Inspired by my favorite player then and now. Never actually knew he played it (no internet and few magazines etc. where I came from) but always felt like it was a homage to him (and Satriani). Finally hearing him mention it himself. This made my day! And the whole interview waa great!
And lookin forward to seeing the master live in a week!

Alex Skolnick should go on tour with Pat Metheny or do a album with him that'd be great

Alex and Marty are two of the most difficult guitarists to copy, you just can't find anybody copying their feel, a living Testament on how great their are

Aweee, that's really cool. Thanks Amy. Thanks for watching. It was a lot of fun doing this with Alex. We both happily would have kept on going, but he had to get to soundcheck. Thanks again.

Love Testament, Love Skolnick! I first saw them on the "Souls of Black" tour in Winnipeg, but have been listening since "The Legacy". Good in depth interview here with good people! Hope you both have a great show, and I hope to see them again real soon. I love the new record by the way! Cheers from Thunder Bay!

The show that night was awesome. Even the band said they thought it was a good one. Nice to know you enjoyed that one JPL. And I hope you get to meet Alex sometime. If you do be sure to tell him that you watched this and that you follow my channel. He's a really nice dude so I hope you get to meet him someday.
      Cheers!

I forgot that the the show would have been past tense. Great to hear that it was awesome. I think Tokyo seems to bring out the best in a lot of bands from what I gather. If I ever have the rare, fortunate chance of meeting Alex I will certainly mention you and the channel. Thanks for the kind feedback Jason. Take care for now.

Thanks JJ. I'm quite certain that the Ibanez fans out there will be losing their shit over seeing that. However he's very happily playing ESP now and I wouldn't dare take that away from him.

Great watch. I loved Alex's playing back on the Ritual album. I was kind of disappointed in the reunified Testament albums as they don't sound like Alex has been able to flex his melodic jazz influence into the newer Testament tracks. He is was elevated them to a big band from the 80s.

    • @JasonMcNamara

Fair call. If you haven't got Planetary Coalition you really should buy it. Being that you're a fan of Alex's I am certain you will love it.

Hi brother, what a mass. I see that me and Voce have one of the rarest and most iconic guitars of Ibanez. I have the Desert Yellow model, and it’s all original. I’m updating her electrics, I’d like to talk to Voce, give me your contact. I’m here from Brazil. Big hugs

    • @JasonMcNamara
      @JasonMcNamara  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Who or what is Voce? I'm the owner of the Five Alarm Red (Orange) 540Pii in the video. If you want to reach out to me on Facebook or Instagram for some reason I'm not hard to find. That said, I'm not selling my guitar if that's what you're after.
