She’s awesome too. I’m a 44 year old female from the Scottish highlands and I worked on fish farms just after I had my first kid when I was 21. My spine is totally wrecked because of that and I understand how she’ll want to push through the severe pain so the boys don’t think she’s weak. I did the same thing for a long time until I quit and by then 3 of my vertebrae were beyond repair.
I think they focus more on the drama on this one a lot, they aren’t catching much in the shots shown but I’m sure they catch a good bit or they wouldn’t be doing this
I’ve been fishing in Alaska since I was 18. I grew up there and love nothing more than fishing. I thought she did great for a greenhorn. She didn’t quit and really that’s all you can ask from a greenhorn. They don’t know shit and gotta learn somehow. She worked her ass off and then talking down on her just pisses me the fuck off. We need to support each other fishing. Without support everyone WILL fail. Crabber claw is such a bitch to deal with, makes it to where you literally can’t open your hand. I thought she handled it great. Props to this young lady!
What Gabby lacks in strength, she more than makes up for in sheer willpower. I once worked a job that was very demanding on both your hands and back. (Unloading freshly planted plants into greenhouses. 1 or 2 gallon buckets with 100% water saturated soil, with the minimum standard being 3 1-gallon pots in each hand and 2 2-gallon pots in each.) The job had about a 90% quit rate, as it paid crap and beat you up mentally and physically. While not as hard as crabbing I'm sure, it still sucked horribly for the 'tough' guy's ego that came in only to have myself or a female that were skinny and not as strong, run circles around the bigger, stronger guys and not have any pain while they were shaking out their hands and popping blisters non-stop. If you can survive your first 2-4 weeks of it, you start getting used to it and the pain, blisters, and working in all elements starts to go away, so only the mentally tough made it. It didn't matter how big or strong you were. It mattered how much you hated to lose or quit.
i worked at greenhouses for a long time and when i did that job i fabricated 2 racks, basically a flat square with high sides and a d handle sticking out the middle that could hold 4 3 gallon pots and would carry one in front and one behind me for the aisles were only about 3 feet wide.....for the 1 gallons id put 12-15 into a 189 liter tote and carry it in front of me lengthwise

Some of yall couldn't out last her. I've been on a boat in Alaska fishing like this. I love my bearing sea hoodie, complimented by the welding Slag holes everywhere from welding crab pots. And crab hand is the worst. It's like your entire hand is so bruised from using the muscles so much they swell up to the point where it feels like your skins pulling apart everytime you bend your fingers. And its a burn. No pain meds take it away. And the longer you let your hands rest the stiffer they get until eventually moving them makes you cry. Its terrible
Man, allot of people who have never worked a job longer than 9-5 bank jobs and it shows, when you put in these hours, your body handles new constant pain until you hit your breaking point as a green horn, she beasted through it, and the consequences are taken through your body, greenhorns on a lobster boat get the same thing banding lobsters, something so simple you wouldn’t expect to take as much of a toll on your wrist as it does when you relax, the fact she kept going back out on deck, makes her a badass, people who don’t want to work, keep walking off deck and de gearing, she faught and faught

It's wonderful to see the difference the support made. When she knew they had her back she went back to work with a smile and a positive attitude, despite the pain being even worse.
I could never do this job. I got an offer to work on a crab boat in Alaska almost a decade ago, and I said hell no. This is a super tough job, not to mention being splashed with almost freezing ocean water, in freezing temps. I commend any person who does this job, just like guys who work in the oil field, or underwater welders. Those are some super serious, tough jobs. Gabby is a total badass!
You might want to take oilfield out of your comment they do not work that hard and there are much more dangerous and harder jobs then the oilfield
@@clinttrost5743 never worked in a oil field^
@@clinttrost5743 might I suggest you watch a few @USCSB videos
@@amunago080 yes I have for many years when I started it was a lot tougher and more dangerous but today not so much
Gabby! You deserve the upmost respect! My hats off to you, and other women working that hard. And to the short guy, leave her alone. Seriously? Karma got ya bud.
4:02 love that Sound: "Sheewwww...PATCH !!!" 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
👍😮👀I got mad respect for that girl!👍🏻She's out there doign a job that a lot of grown men aren't tough enough to accomplish!
🙄
she quit. this is a. mans job
@@shoutout.kokain8713 that's the funny part, she quit & none of these people have anything to say about their stupid ass remarks
Next thing you know they'll say Mindy will end up getting the NW instead of Edgar because he's a goof diddler when in reality she's just on it for the show
Hemorrhoid cream works good for the grip👍 learned the trick from an old school fisherman few years back take it from me commercial scallop fisherman new bedford 10 yrs. You get the grip put it on the second you get off watch lather it on and massage it in real good. It works. 100 percent. Good as new after a 3 -4 hour nap depending how quick you heal 👍
For real? Icy hot hasnt worked or anything like that,I've gotten cortisone shots in my hands and I'm still having trouble, does that actually work for you? Cuz the ideas not that crazy..
Hitting your already swelling hands against metal won't be helping anything. Girl kicks ass!!Looks so painful. Great to see such team work and rally around eachother. You need the whole team to survive on those seas.
I'm sorry for two things one for the vertebrae and for my head voice that instantly put a accent on it
Me watching this with 6 blankets on just because my room is at 19 degrees 😂 id die out their... they deserve alot of credit to do this job
I couldn’t do that job. She’s got my respect
Gabby you are one tough lady, well done and then some!
Junior was always a level headed Captain.
Anybody realize that this boat ain't catching anything in a lot of past episodes? Maybe I missed an episode but I feel as if they are really unlucky
I think they focus more on the drama on this one a lot, they aren’t catching much in the shots shown but I’m sure they catch a good bit or they wouldn’t be doing this
Gabby is a trooper. Tougher than me for sure
He is a compassionate capitan
I’ve been fishing in Alaska since I was 18. I grew up there and love nothing more than fishing. I thought she did great for a greenhorn. She didn’t quit and really that’s all you can ask from a greenhorn. They don’t know shit and gotta learn somehow. She worked her ass off and then talking down on her just pisses me the fuck off. We need to support each other fishing. Without support everyone WILL fail. Crabber claw is such a bitch to deal with, makes it to where you literally can’t open your hand. I thought she handled it great. Props to this young lady!
So proud of you Baby Girl 💜
Little gerry crying was fantastic 😂😂
Little guy "I dont wanna be talked down to..." 🤣
that captain is a legend
What a brave girl. We of Sparta salute you!
I'm so proud of Gabby!!! Get it girl!
It is absolutely awesome that Gabby is on a crab boat in the baring sea , she is a tuff cookie no doubt about it.
Hang in there Gabby girl ...
“You’re already tougher than most men”. Sad but true
Great leader and captain, great job from gabby, glad he set the crew down and told them what's up
The dreaded crabbers claw! Damn my hands are sore from first couple of weeks back playing golf, life is tough!
Teamwork at the greatest.
That’s a good captain right there looking out for the new worker
“You just say that because you’re short” 🤣 I’m a man & I couldn’t do what she’s doing! Much respect to her & zero respect to the heckling midget!
If you want to know the pain .. Just think your hand is so swollen that every joint is filled with fluid When you try to make a fist you cant Add in the pain of trying You go from numb to pain everytime you move it Now try grabbing something....Crabbers claw
I wonder if it's like what happened to me when I was working construction fixing side walks. I'd run a 40 pound pneumatic drill all day, for a couple months every morning I'd wake up the next day and couldn't close my hands.
@@adamrodgers9175 Yeah I know what thats like. Got it all the time running jack hammers
@@adamrodgers9175 The tendons in you're hand run all the way up you're arm Add in the muscles And bone Then the nervous ...I had a crushed elbow 11 pins and a plate to keep it together It effected all of these items The shoulder pain into the neck The worse of it more than a year later is abit of swelling in the knuckle near the finger nail I still have abit of crabber's claw And a elbow that still have 20% angle when trying to make straight...In the past i tried using a jack hammer for 8hrs 2 days in a row I remember shaking hands while laying in bed..hand use is poor with these It does effect them..But the biggest issue is wear and tear on you're back I come from a family of Miners Some used the old jack hammers The new ones do have some werid strap to support
Little man saying he's not going to be talked down to was hilarious! Suck it up Bilbo.
Thats a good leader right there! 👍
My hands constantly cramp up and get numb from framing houses, not pain like hers, just my fingers and hand get stuck a lot and numb when holding nailgun for awhile or even my phone, idk why
Fair play to that woman respect ✊
How come theyre throwing bags at 1:42 when they said they're stacking out?
Tough woman she is ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Karma caught Jerry
The encounter is amazing.. keep it up guys
I assume crabbers hands is like the screaming barfies (from ice climbing)
Where do I go to do this for a living ??
I love how they say u snapped a tendon and then said oh at that point ur fine if you snap a tendon that it just as bad if not worse then actually breaking a bone because sometimes you will never regain the same strength or mobility the longer u wait to get it fixed
she has the guts to get it done...one tough girl!😁
Anybody know the episode to watch this?
What a solid freaking boss.... impressed. I would work for this man for yeeearrrs
You just snapped a tendon you're fine. Lmao Jesus
Pretty impressive, nice work stay safe!
Major respect for gabby
I am a landscaper I squeeze handles on the walk behind for at least 5 hours a day a medical professional told me to get my hands back straight grab a one by 3 board and tape your hands flat to them and your muscles will go back to being straightened in about an hour or two
Thumbnail looked like Eminem in 8mile at first glance
Moms spaghetti
I thought the exact same thing lmaoo
Do they lose fingers from getting pinched ?
Good clip, but TH-cam, 3 lots of double ads in a 9minute clip! Bit greedy!
Move your cursor to the end of the video and replay the video
TA DA no more bitching
*JERRY IS A SAD LITTLE BOY* 🤣🤣🤣
I have RA and deal with this kind of thing a lot, it's really hard to deal with so that's pretty gnarly
I don't know who this captain is, since I haven't watched the show since around the time Phil passed away, but I like him, seems like a good boss.
GREAT WORK GABBY!! NEVER GIVE UP!!!! I DON'T!!!!!
Captain of this boat is awesome
That little mans ego is so fragile my god lmao
