I lived in Galicia for 2 years and my girlfriend is Galician. We enjoyed your video a lot! Congratulations on bringing the culture, the history, the traditions, the gastronomy, the Galician "feeling" and of course the fantastic wines together in a beautiful episode. Next week we will be there enjoying our glass of Albariño, cheers!

Another amazing chapter. As a Portuguese, this is by far my favourite region of Spain especially when talking about the perfect marriage of seafood and wine.
A warm salute to our Galician brothers and sisters.

Loved the Video!!! Brought me right back to the Costal Portuguese Camino that i did in 2023 with my wife and a couple of good friends. Along with the amazing seafood, such as Navajas, Percebes, and mussels, we enjoyed the Vinho Verdes in Portugal as well as the Albarinos in Galicia!! Our walk brought us through so many places mentioned in your videos, it was as if i was transported back in time!!!

OOFF!! I miss Galicia. I did my PhD there and I just love the Albarino and Godello. My dad loves it, too. I remember how he finished a bottle by the lonesome when I brought some for Xmas once. Just like how it fits really well with the Spanish seafood, it also meshes really well with the local seafood in my Pacific island home half a world away. Now lemme go off to order some online (coz, sadly, local shops don't stock non-Rioja Spanish wines).

Very nice video, but Vinho Verde is the name of the region in Portugal that also produce Alvarinho grapes. And more, not always it will be fizzy. In there, especially in Monção e Melgaço sub region you can find amazing white wines, made from Alvarinho, Trajadura and Arinto variety, that could be on that fizzy style or barrel, some of them very age worthy! 🍷

I love me some Rías Baixas. One of my fav wineries is La Caña. Have a few bottles from the 2013 vintage and let me tell you Albariño is surprising with it's ageability. It's aged quite well and I'm tempted to hold them a little longer and see what the wine does

Would be a good episose for the future to do trip to Valdeorras and Bierzo 🍷🍷 🇪🇸

I'm just getting into wine and I don't know very much about it. Someone recommended that I try Albarino (since I was exploring Sauvignon Blanc) and I picked up a bottle that I thought would be nice. And since I don't know much about it, I decided to have a glass and watch videos about it. I was surprised that the wine I had chosen (Martin Codax) was the first one they drank!
I too, noticed the creamy mouthfeel. I was interested to hear it was because of the fermentation!

For me the best Albariños that you tasted are from Fillaboa and Bodegas Gránbazan (for aged Albariños). Martin Codax produces too much wine and their quality has reduced drastically over the past 10 years.
There is one grape that is an autonomus grape from Spain, Godello that produces some of the best white wines in Spain (if not the world).
Gdellos are produced in three areas: Valldeorras and Monterrei (Galicia), and Bierzo (Leon across the border from Galicia).
My favorite Godellos are from Valdeorras which are harvested by hand (or with mules) due to the slanted slate slopes down to the Rio Mariñan.
Godellos from Valdeorras are complex, long, and with a subdued minerality.
I compare these wines to Chablis with their structure and complexity.
The Godellos from Monterrei are produced on flat land and are less complex and simpler wines.
The Godellos from Bierz are fruit driven and dense and are similar to a heavy California Chardonnay in structure.
Keep up your videos, I have lived in Spain for the past 35 years and have been very fortunate in seeing the evolution of Spanish wines over the past decades.
    Salud, Mark

The KING of Alvarinho!! semi-sparking are cheap entry level blends made to be super crisp, needing at least 5 degrees celsius to be drunk!! what it is incredible is looking at how Martin Codax show off that they support more than 300 growers but not disclaiming that most of them have been paid after three years since the grapes were sold. Is that a sustainable relationship with growers? I don't think so. Stop drinking mass produced and industrialised Albariño and look for the real albariños out there, the ones that speak honestly about terroir made by small artisans!
