My absolutely favorite artist (not only in K-pop, but in general) is Taemin - this man is a legend and a trendsetter and his music is simply outstanding. You liked Agust D, he is a member of BTS - Suga (Min Yoongi). He goes by Agust D as soloist. The "underground", as U called it, is RM - also the member of BTS :) And the others too - Jhope, Jin, Jimin, V and Jungook.
There is magic in IUs voice. Her songs may not be always technical and vocal but the way she sings the music goes straight to heart, you feel her emotions when you sing whatever the genre is. That's what makes her stand out I think.
Im a huge fan of the BTS members' (Jimin, V, Jin, Jungkook, RM, JHope and Suga [aka A'gust D]) solos, especially V's just because his music style tends to be what I gravitate towards the most. I also love SHAUN's music, especially'Closed Ending' and 'Way Back Home'.

Also Baekhyun, Chen, Kai, and Chanyeol from this list are all from EXO. Almost all the members have solo albums all in different kinds of domination genres. My type of songs are mostly Baekhyun and Kai’s albums. However the other members’ solo discography are also amazing. Enough for me to enjoy it a lot despite what kinds of genres I prefer.

Some of my favorites are Woodz and Kang Daniel. Although only showed at the end they have plenty of good music before 2021 and still to this day, neither has made a single bad song.

I think this recopilation video was released before Lisa released her solo because she is the soloist with the most views of 2021, and she is the most successful kpop female soloist in the world, not to mention the kpop soloist in general so far, passing to her own group in many ways

G-dragon. Taeyang, TOP and CL were from YG ent. They were everywhere back in those years. I wasn't a fan of them but dang i miss them so much now. There's no real badass in kpop as them now (except maybe for 2-3 artist).

something you may start to figure out is that the kpop scene truly is dominated mostly by groups instead of pure soloists. Most soloists in kpop are either currently in a group and also going solo on the side or they were formerly in a popular kpop group and moved to being a soloist.

Also, *RM, JIN, AGUSTD/SUGA, J-HOPE, JIMIN, V & JUNGKOOK* all of them are BTS members. Each of them have solo stuffs on BTS albums and also they have their own individual mixtapes.
No one in BTS has ever debuted in the idol world as soloists but a huge portion of the songs in this compilation were by BTS members (RM, Jin, Suga/Agust-D, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook). When have lots of solo songs, some under BTS, some as individuals and the rappers have all released 1-2 of their own albums but they've never done the idol circuit for soloists. Like they don't perform on their own or submit for music shows like most other group members who drop solos. So they're numbers are even more impressive when you consider they're dropped for free, independently (as in their label facilitates it but they really have to put their solo projects together themselves) and they don't promote on variety shows or anything either.

just to let u know, IU is the biggest artist in korea in general considering groups and solos. She is the artist with most songs that reached 1 place on streaming portals with 24/25 songs and the second got 11~ (BigBang I believe) she is also the artist with most songs with perfect all kills (PAK) and hourly PAK (PAK is when a song reaches daily and weekly 1st place on all streaming portals that are included in ichart).
Considering groups? No. She is one the biggest for sure, but the record you mention is irrelevant considering she is active for 14 years in conparison to other artists free years she and release several songs each year. There are a lot of other records she doesn't hold. Plus charts are charts, they only give a certain idea on popularity but there are life out there besides charts. For example Big Bang new song did crazy good on charts (better than iu) but has 0 impact and people barley talk about it.

@@timorcohen4641 It's not true that she releases several songs each year... yes she's been in the music industry for 14 years and has maintained her chart dominance, but if you compare the number of songs to other artists, she has not more or even less songs, and it's understandable, she's only one person and she writes and produces most of her songs, not to mention she is a top-class actress too.
People fail to realize that for a 16 year old group Bigbang has only 68 korean songs in their discography. They had 3 released full albums. Also on average they go on hiatus as a group every 3-4 years which is an anomaly when in kpop, every group releases an album yearly.

Bts is actually very big on Hiphop, or I’d say their base is hiphop and they build on it to create different mix genres, it’s very interesting. They’ve covered most genres, from hiphop to edm to ballad to R&B and even Latin-pop, they’re always evolving as a challenger. A lot of rap songs that you heard on this list are from one of the bts rappers (Agust d aka Suga, RM, Jhope). Both Suga and RM were underground rappers prior to Bts and influenced the group to be a hiphop group at the start of their career. Bts also write their own lyrics and involve themselves in their own production, sometimes even fully. They’ve got the artist spirit, rap stands for rhythm and rhyme afterall, wouldn’t feel as genuine and impactful if someone else wrote the lyrics

There are only few popular soloists in Korea, most of them are just soloists who were active on a group (mostly 3rd gen) or just debuted solo after group disbanded/inactive (mostly 2nd gen). IU and Psy are the most popular soloists who were not in a group. Some of the list are Kdrama OSTs, mostly the top ones from 2016.
