Wonderful video! I graduated from driving school earlier this month and unfortunately, I only learned how to drive up and downhill for an hour. The driving instructor wasn’t very great (quite emotional) so it was difficult to understand how engine braking worked. Your video helped a lot and now I feel better about driving on the long slope outside of my house 😆 Thank you so much!
Congrats on graduating from driving school! 🚗 I'm delighted to hear the video was helpful in understanding downhill driving and engine braking. If you have more questions or need further tips, feel free to ask. Happy driving!
Nice tutorial, not many ppl know about such things. If you use manual gear that skill become even more essential. In mountains you're just impossible to use your breaks all the time because they can fail (become too hot). Thank you!
great video explaining the situation to use such function in a car if so equipped. I originally came here to learn how to drive downhill fast, but I guess this improves my knowledge on everyday driving, thanks.
Hi Jacqueline, I’m learning driving I am following all your these videos, really each and every video have full of content it’s very useful , ending the each video I felt learned something, thank you and meet, see you soon for practice😊
Tank you in advance for my question I live in Uzbekistan, I go down a 200 km mountain hill, when I go down, my speed increases too much, it is impossible to control, my score is 3, but the speed is 80 km per hour, sometimes I press the brake, but it is very annoying because the brake system is hot it goes out of order quickly, what advice can you give me, in such situations, my car is a mechanical gearbox
Aunty, will you be able to make a video on how to navigate that particular round about at the bottom of the hill? That roundabout still gives me nightmares.
driving back home to arizona from ohio in about 4-5 months (my first time ever driving this far) im so afraid of driving downhill! i never even heard of low gear before i drive a 2012 honda civic im so nervous 😬
So when driving downhill, i dont hit the gas pedal and just allow the car to free roll while on Low gear? I'm s tudent driver so it will be a big help if i get some answers. THANK YOU
Does this work on Highways, like in Arizona for example? I was on vacation driving in Arizona on a highway and was breaking the entire time going 60mph while I noticed other vehicles didn't have their break lights on.
This is the exact Sebago scenario that brought me here. I am confused because low gear is for slower speeds. But in AZ the freeways are down hill from the Grand Canyon all the way to sedona & I'd like to master that on the freeway
If your vehicle is an automatic transmission when you change from D to L do you need to press on break pedal before changing gear and vice versa.. Thank you
I drive a Class B RV van and if I tap on the brakes too much going downhill, they will overheat, so I was told to put my vehicle in a lower gear until I reach the bottom of a steep hill.😊🚐

I'm not a driving school candidate, but I live at zero elevation so have never driven hilly or mountain roads--this was helpful. Thanks for the video.
