When I Managed To Do Over 10,000 Damage Per Second in Dead Cells

- All it takes is the right weapon and a little luck. Also Some massive kill streaks to be sure to find the best weapons. Early on I found a legendary lightning bolt that really helped carry me through the early stages. Thanks to its range and damage the killstreaks weren't overly difficult. These rewarded me with better and better weapons. Although I mostly used the whip due to ease of use. By the end I found a weapon that after upgrading to ++ quality was doing over 10,000 DPS. Wonder how high we can do with these.. Dead Cells gameplay with my commentary as always!

It's something and it's better than nothing
DF 2 important things for the future:
- Lightning Bolt does damage to you if you hold it too long. That's why you didn't get a perfect on the first boss. It wasn't damage reflection.
- You keep reading the yellow number on weapons as the "DPS" of a weapon. The yellow number is the CRIT DPS, not the normal DPS. On the Frantic Sword for example, the "over 10k DPS" is when you're below half health, not at all times (unless you stay below half health). For the Lightning Bolt, it's when you hold it down a bit longer (which also means you're more likely to lose health to it).
Just wanted to clear those two things up for you and hope this helps you on future runs.
Technically that's not true. The yellow text indicated if the weapon's certain attribute is active. I.E., if Chain Lightning is held long enough, if you're sub 50% Frantic Sword, or close enough with Infantry bow. From there, they can crit further than the indicated dps.

yellow lightning = crit damage (as in the weapon's description)
So, yellow text dps = crit dps
I've watched DocFirebird's videos on his lightning bolt runs. I have not seen any critical numbers that "crit further than the indicated dps".
If you seen any, pls post a reply with the timestamp where he does that. I might have not paid full attention.

Lastly I'm sure you've noticed rooms with items that you can't find an entrance too, if you see a wall with green plants and fibers on, there will be a secret path there, there are alot of places like that, that have blue prints, especially the ancient sewers, and graveyard

In the center room with all of the bottles with abilities and items with them, try interacting with the empty tube. Also just a headsup you've been putting all of your points into red, so only red items receive the damage boost from them. Turrets that you've been using are purple and won't get the extra damage. Also look at some of the item descriptions. The lightning bolt damages you after continuous use and the frantic sword only does the critical when you're under half health or have high infection

You're still missing one important tune. If you go through the sewers to the ancient sewers you can fight a different first boss then head to an area you haven't been to before. That area has the spider rune that let's you wall jump.
Did he already go through Sepulcher & get the Explorer's Instinct rune?
Edit: I'm dumb, yes, he literally goes through the Sepulcher in the video.
Just gotta point out, you kept taking damage from your lightning because you were holding it too long. Holding it begins doing crits and then starts doing self-damage. Don't know why they took that off the item description
DF, some things regarding Downward Smash Attack which you've been under-utilizing.
You can't see the details for your downward smash attack, but your downward smash attack is "colorless" and thus benefits from your highest color stat boost. So your downward smash attack will always be decently well scaled to do damage on every level as long as you stack a stat, like Brutality, as you have been. The damage also scales upward the higher you downward smash from. But if you fall for too long while downward smashing (such as when going down a long elevator shaft) your character will automatically cancel out of downward smashing and resume falling, thus being stunned upon landing. You can get around this by dodge-rolling while falling and then downward smashing again before you hit the ground.
You can downward smash through platforms directly over "birds" to crush them instantly, and you can attack mid-air when jumping or falling, so if a bird is under you on a ceiling that you can't smash through, but close to a drop-through platform, you can drop through and instantly attack to kill it before you finish falling. Most lesser enemies will also die in one hit if you have enough increased damage.
Downward smash can also stun enemies when you use it from high enough of an altitude, which gives it some tactical use as well, such as timing when multiple enemies that patrol from side-to-side will be directly under you at the same time, so that you can drop down and stun them, then obliterate them before they recover.
Finally: If you get an amulet that has both modifiers of "Downward smash attacks cover the ground with inflammable oil" and "Downward smash attacks burn the ground" you can actually utilize downward smash attacking pretty aggressively. You won't take damage from your own oil fires, so you can coat the ground in oil fire and kite things through it for extra damage. However, this is best left to ranger builds that focus on maintaining distance and stack Tactics (purple) or Survival (green).
Here is some help with that boss cell door: (this info is from the game wiki)
Boss Stem Cells (or simply Boss Cells) are permanent items that increase the difficulty of the game when active. The first one is acquired by beating the Hand of the King with no Boss Stem Cells active, the second by beating him with one active, and so on. However, the fifth Boss Stem Cell is obtained by beating the Giant with four active.
Boss Stem Cells can be injected and removed at the start of the game in the Tube. Each one makes the game significantly harder by increasing enemy tier, density, variety, and limiting healing options. On the other hand, higher difficulty levels also increase cells dropped from enemies and the level of the Legendary Forge, and allow access to new blueprints and bonus doors scattered through the levels. The doors show the number of Boss Stem Cells required to enter and shine blue if enough are currently active. The fifth Boss Cell is special in that it doesn't modify anything compared to the fourth until the Throne Room, where it grants access to a secret biome, the Astrolab, and the hidden final boss of the game in the Observatory.

Please DF, stop and read the descriptions. Each color only buffs weapons of the associated color.
Also the empty tube in the starting area is where you slot in your Boss Cell that you got from killing the final boss.
No matter what game I see him playing and how many comments I see people write with critical information, I feel like he just doesn't care and never listens. He doesn't read descriptions or items and tends to think he somehow knows best without really knowing anything at all. I like DF a lot, but the stubbornness and downright laziness is a bit much sometimes. I can understand playing a game a couple times and being like "egh" or whatever, but to play the games he does, for as LONG as he does, and go soooo long without really understanding the finer points or actually testing things out and learning.. kind of mindblowing, honestly.
@@RobewhO Too on point. One of the reasons why watching him is slowly becoming less and less enjoyable. XD watching him play is good in small doses, but too much and it starts becoming frustrating.
@@RobewhO he's literally just having fun. he does listen, but likes to play in his own style. almost every comment is spoiling any game for him. "do this and that, then this specific thing happens." he's not there to master the game, he just tries to exploit it in any way possible. On his own, of course. I wouldn't call him lazy, I mean, he sometimes spends literal hours to fulfill one of his ideas. I tried to do something that DF had done a while ago, and man. it took ages, eventually I just stopped trying.
it's just a part of who he is, his shape and form of entertainment.
as for myself, i hate game spoils. getting infos on something, i could've learned on my own. just winging everygame on the long run and trying stupid things. guess it's the same for him.

I respect your opinion, but it's MY opinion that what I am talking about wouldn't be considered "spoilers" or "telling him *HOW* to play". You made it seem like what I was saying had something to do with wanting him to play the game the way I, myself, want him to.. and that's not what I was saying at all. Although I do agree there are plenty of people who do that. And that holds true no matter what channel/creator you are watching.
I was only saying that he should LEARN the games he plays by paying more attention, and then you wouldn't have those people saying "do this thing and that thing for another thing to happen." That's literally it. I don't think "let him play how he wants" is a valid response to someone telling him to READ THINGS and PAY ATTENTION. Just doing those two things would open up even MORE possibilities and enjoyment once he understands mechanics and exactly what things do and how they work. That's far from telling someone how to play. It's just an attempt at trying to help expand his knowledge so he can get more out of these games than he already does, especially since he only plays a game for so long before he moves on from it.
I know he likes to have fun, and it seems like doing tons of damage, in this game and Dungreed in particular, is his way of doing that.. so taking a second to realize, for example, "oh hey, this item has an effect.. and this other item does more damage when enemies are under that effect.. awesome" would benefit him. It's all about synergy and how items work together.. all of which he could very simply learn almost immediately without being told. Just by reading.
And I enjoy learning things on my own when I play games, also.. but when you're someone like DF who is a popular content creator, I would say that knowing as much as you can, as quickly as you can, by paying attention a little more would lead to more exciting and creative content. He is more than free play games how he sees fit and have fun doing it, though. Who am I, or anyone else, to really try to tell him otherwise?
But I guess all I am saying is that spending countless hours on a game and overlooking crucial information that would give him more choices and options and a higher understanding of the game's finer points.. all of which he could have figured out by just reading a bit more clearly, taking a second to test things or even just applying a little critical thinking.. I can't help but to find it a bit surprising, disappointing and a sorta embarrassing, in truth. And that's taking into consideration your point of him being competent at most games he plays. I give him that credit by assuming he would figure these things out a little more quickly.

U had the perfect purple build at the start assasins daggar is purple aswell as red, the lightning was colourless and your utilities were both purple
If you want to keep your cells you can break down the door instead of spending them
When you look at the DPS stat, the one stated in white is the dps while the yellow one are the critical dammage. each weapon have different way of doing critical dammage. you had 10k dps only when doing critical dammage with the sword when you had below 50% health or above 50% corruption. be aware pof that and it will help you GREATLY

By the way, with enemies like those birds on platforms, you can make a downwards slam attack through the platform. Should kill them in one hit.
Just a heads up, cursed chests *Always* give a scroll of power, colorless weapon and some gold
DF with the "v" you drop your head and can control it, you can attach it to enemies and it does damage to them and has a lot of reach, also it isn´t afected by spikes an it can pick up loot, like the boomerang in the last room of the palace and also you can find a secret blueprint at the end of the ramparts, there is an invisible flor but i recomend you to send to explore your head, because it can´t recive any type of damage(you have to jump over a little gap at the start and at the end)
I love DF but watching him bumble through, not reading any notifications, not reading any descriptions, not reading anything really is SUPER frustrating. He's regularly misunderstanding several key features of the game and I just want to scream at my monitor. "What happened to my health?" You're Malaise (plague) level maxed out. "Why did I take damage?" You used your lightning too long. Fuck dude.

Advice for grinding: You don´t have to spend your cells at the end of a level, you can just break through the door.
If you do that you can spend more cells after beating a boss.

I'm really enjoying your Dead Cells series.
The room with the boomerang blueprint, you can detach your head with V, it can bring items back and trigger pressure pads. It also climbs walls, also spikes dont hurt it
I'm really happy that you have fun with Dead Cells; a small hint, the locked doors(like the one at the end of the game) require you to have more boss cells activated aka. play on a highter difficuly, you can chage that in the first room; it's where you spawn and where all the bottles with items hang. If you pay attention to the doors in the background some of them require 2/3/4/5 cells to enter, there are usually some goodies inside.
16:20 you can get the blueprint by leaving your body like you did in the previous ep

I enjoy the content, and love this game. I hope that comments telling you what to do doesn't deter you from the game. I know it can be disheartening to be told you are wrong about a pretty complex game like this, but I hope you keep at it. Very fun to watch! Great series so far.

The LightningBolt hurts you if you use it to long in a row. When it goes to red, you get damage. Everything from blue to orange is fine. Also if you are in the starting area you can go to this glass pipe and activate a boss cell. Killing the Hand of the King with a Boss cell active unlocks the next one and that goes up to 5 cells. You can enter the door behind the Hand of the King if you kill him with 5 cells active. (It’s pretty cool what’s behind the door so you may try that)
i actually like seeing you play this game.
Try the double bow/double crossbowmatic strategy. Two bows, two crossbow matics invest in purple
Can't do double traps anymore. Can only hold one crossbowmatic now.
Now, alchemist bow, hekudo's bow, fire bomb and oil bomb got me through BC3 pretty easily. Also helped I went into the HotK with about 32 brut.

I'd like to say that the reforges are WAY better than you think. If you get "spawn a poison cloud around the trap" or "shot enemies are poisoned" combined with a sword that does "+100% to poison," just throw down the trap and you get free double damage. (There are other things that you can do like that with fire, bleeding, etc.)
Note: legendary Spartan sandles are really good especially bosses sense it interrupts their attacks

Hey DF so the only way you can progress now is by activating the Steam Cells. You can do this at the start by pressing r on the glass vial under the part that shows you the items you unlocked. This makes the game harder and adds enemys but is the only way you can open the other doors you see in the levels. 5 are needed to open the last door.
If you're able to approach the birds/bats from above on the semi-solid floors/ceilings, you can hold down and spam the button for your slam and you'll ground attack right away and wreck them with no risk. (Also you can attach your 'head' to things to damage them from a distance.)

Hey DF, since you’ve absorbed the bosscell you should try to run with that active, its the only way to advance in this game, and it unlocks areas. Youve got this! Also you should try experimenting with new areas and weapons.
You can get the boomerang blueprint in that last high peak castle room by pushing "V", it detaches your head and you can roll it around
DF some advice:
If you hold the lightning bolt down long enough it will turn yellow and start doing it's yellow DPS. If you hold it down even longer it will turn red and start hurting you.
Turrets will stop working if you move too far away.
You should really try using shields. Parries can do lots of damage and just carrying one will give you i-frames after getting hit.
You should have a rune that lets you detach your head. You can use it to move turrets, do damage, or collect distant items. Your head is immune to spikes.
A purple turret will do approximately no damage at the end of a red run. If you want to rely on turrets, you should do a purple run. If you want ungodly high damage, you might want to consider green.
You're going to have to start turning on boss cells if you want to keep progressing.
Also DF, the lightning bolt hurts you if you hold it too long. Ideally you can hold it for about 2 or 3 seconds before it hurts you, but then shortly after the lightning turns orange it starts to hurt you. And you need the Spider Rune from the Prison Depths to climb those shafts you keep finding
When your Malaise maxes out like it did in the Elite Slasher chamber (the big skeleton that absolutely smacked you), it instantly tanks your HP to ~10%, iirc, and you're stuck around there until you decrease your Malaise.
What time is it for you when you upload your videos ? For me it‘s 1 am right now (Germany) but still I‘m watching this video, because it‘s so good.

Dangerously Funny, Just to let you know, the Lightning Bolt attack will start to do damage to YOU if you hold down the attack for too long. Once it starts going red you start to do damage to yourself.
Hey, DF I have 100 runs of the game with all runes and
and a stable build, here are some tips:
1- To unlock the spider rune you have to have the ram rune (which you can unlock by going to the end of the Promenade Of The Condemned and not going on the elevator, but continuing right, then you activate the teleport and you will go to the Ossuary, then you will fight an Elite and you will get it), then go into the Toxic Sewers and find a rammable floor and that will lead you to the ancient sewers, fight the Elite and you will get it)
2- Go Survival its the easiest and most OP
3- Shields are important, and parrying is a life saver
4- Here is a Build with room patterns:
Heavy Crossbow, Spiked Shield, Death Orb, Crusher
There are all Survival and do extremly high damage even on low survival.
5- I prefer to go like this with rooms and bosses
Promenade of the condemned
Ramparts
Black Bridge: The Concierge
Stilt Village
Clock Tower
Clock Room: Time Keeper
High Peak Castle
Throne Room: Hand of the king

In the room in high peak castle with the blueprint trapped by spikes, use the leave body thing and go over to it and you can get it

Okay so help w birds: theyr e typically at or near areas you can jump down from, and if you hold down while pressing jump you can use a ground smash attack, which kills them instantly if ur near them or go through them. it also damages any enemy you land on.
0:48 - I mean, those spikes are quite alluring
So idk if ur aware of this, but each item has its own type, red , greed, or purple. Whenever you upgrade one of your stats, it makes each item of that color do 15% more damage. So, your turrets are purple, and your lighting is red/purple (it’s modifier is whatever is higher), so purple would be beneficial to invest in, as it would make ur turret do more damage and your whip.
I love how he still hasn't grasped the mechanic of different coloured waepons, scaling their damage off of the respective colour which means that technically every colour is a damage up...
You can use your shield to reflect projectiles to help avoid damage and cause some of your own

you can dive downwards through the flying bat things when they're sleeping, they will die from it
The lightning spell is nice because it does more damage the longer you channel it (hold the button down), BUT when you channel it to long it starts to hurt you as well. You can see the stages based on the color of the lightning, when it turns red it will start damaging you. You generally want to only do a couple seconds of yellow then let it go and restart the channel.
It's a very attention heavy "weapon" to choose because it can kill you if you don't pay attention.
How did u get the kill w/o taking damage streak to show there? That would b a game changer for me
For the first 2 mutations I would recommend taking the YOLO and necromancy mutation YOLO because it's handy and you can only take it as your first and necromancy because it's broken right now
Ground Pound/Jump attack is good for killing the bird things when they on the passable platforms.
If you go to that big tube in the center of the spawn room, you can access a higher difficulty
Sir DF you should try to use Shields they are one of the most useful items in the game with the parry and it makes the clock tower boss very very easy anyways Good Video lots of love
Cursed chests (the ones that make you kill ten enemies) will always drop a colorless item, so if it normally scales with survival it will scale with your highest stat.
This series has turned into something like you playing Undermine.
you should pay more attention to the modifiers, when you upgraded the sword at the end, you lost the 2 arrows that were adding a significant amount of damage for you when you were up close
A tip for the birds is when they are standing on a platform, if you ground pound through the platform and hit the bird during the ground pound, most of the time they will die
For the Boomerang blueprint you can detach your head and use it to collect it for you.

Your down smash will instantly kill all of the bat things in a pretty good radius
The little birds that hang from the ceiling can be killed as you drop down, just down slam on the way down and through the bird/bat thing and it will die immediately
Lmao last time you beat the game to deattach your head, deattach it and enter the fountain
You should try a 1 boss cell run(interacting with the tube in the prisoner quarters)
When there are those birds you can stomp through the floor and it kills them instantly
I think you might enjoy the game Flinthook. It's a little similar to games like this, with different areas with rooms with enemies and different things to buff you.
The moment your lightning bolt turns red it starts hurting you there is no such thing in dead cells that reflects your projectiles back at you that I know of at the moment
DF u should probably do some shield only runs with the assault shield to practice parrying

you can only hold down the lightning bolt for a certain amount of time. it'll start blue, go to orange (where it'll do critical hits), then it'll go red. When its red, it'll start doing damage to you.

When your malaise meter full its damage you a lot. Yellow meter on your health meter that malaise indicator.
If you ground pound through those wood platforms if there's a bird next to it, it just dies

If you hold down and push jump while in the air your do a ground slam and do damage to enemies around you and if you hit something in the air you do damage to it so if you are above a bat on a platform hold down and double tap space to instantly ground slam killing the bat
if u are going for 2 turrets and whip combo , u should take tactic (purple) upgrade instead of brutal (red) upgrade tho , since whip has 2 colors and whip would have the tactic damage upgrade if tactics is higher than brutal ,also tactic upgrades your turrets
What's with the glob you turned into last episode?

Remember you can Crouch to avoid getting hit by the swinging maces of you're ona a platform and the chain is on the middle
If you use your head ability ( the one that removes your head and let's it climb walls) and you touch an enemy it with stick to the enemy and do damage and you can kill all the birds
When the lightning turns red, it causes some chunks of your hp
Your golden damage, the one that shows in most weapons, is the dps WHEN CRITING, most items have a conditional crit, that u should read and try to execute for a better time when playing, like the Frantic Sword, that crits when u have 50% health or half the malaise meter full
Just some general tips on the game i spent like 60 hours last 2 weeks
