I appreciate the production values and chill music of this video. Makes me fractionally less upset about going outside for the Nth time in a week to turn off my wifes fiesta alarm after the door sensor trips it off again.
Thanks for this! Been having sporadic problems with my central locking, passenger door claiming to be open when it wasn’t, and the door mech tripping the alarm in the middle of the night. Followed your video - mine was slightly different as it’s an 08 Ghia 5 door, so the window was attached a bit differently, but the video/comments got me there. Replaced with a new door lock mechanism from salvage and now all working nicely 😊
Just wanted to say cheers for posting up this video. Perfect step by step guide showing everything involved. Got mine apart and fixed in a few hours. I had a problem with one of the 3 T30 bolts that screw into the latch in the door. It was so tight it rounded off and I had to drill it out!!
Excellent video. Nice, clear videography. I just did this job on my wifes Mk6 55 plate black Fiesta. The drivers door locks OK on the fob, but when unlocking on the fob, the drivers door stays locked. (Have to use the key). It occasionaly works, if you thump the door first. I thought I would find a dodgy wiring connector or harness, but no. It must be the switches inside the lock actuator. I will have to get a salvaged unit. I left the glass in. Our one has the glass held by clamps with nuts (they just need to be loosened and not removed and dropped inside the door). Once the glass is clear I lifted it up and stuck it, like you did, but in the fully closed position. It is not neccessary to remove the window motor. I did this, but then re-attached it, when I found it stayed with the door panel and mech. Your panel came out easier than mine. The window track on mine extends inside the door and fouled. It needed tilting to clear the door, but then the lock mech got jammed in the door. Very fiddly.
Great video, thanks for doing it. Mine (an '08) didn't have the plastic dowels holding in the window glass; instead, there are 2 clamps with rubber-covered jaws, held in by 2 8m bolts.
great video. I have an issue with the drivers door only, it will lock with CL but will not open. Could this be an actuator issue or not? I don't want to strip the door if I can help it :)
I have a similar situation with the same model, but the N/S door is affected. Do I have to replace the whole looking mechanism or would this rather be the sensor that is faulty? The mechanism seems ok as it does actuate, it's just that it doesn't stay locked. This must be a protective system to avoid locking whilst the door is open so one wouldn't shut it in the locked position, damaging the lock?! Of course if the sensor isn't available by itself or cannot be fixed then I would have to replace the hole thing.
I have ford fiesta like yours. My problem is the same like yours i think. I have to clost it 5-6 times till is closed. On the dash comes also open. Do i have to change the window motor or the actuator or do i need to change my doorlocks? Can you help me with this? I will really appreciate it.
Hi matt this was a really good watch. On my 3dr mk6 my driver side door wont lock or unlock with the remote fob but the passenger door does. Have you encountered this issue before?
Got an issue with my also black, also 07 plate, also zs and also in essex (what are the chances) where my drivers side door interior handle doesn't lock the car. If I use the key, I can lock both doors If i lock both doors using the key, unlocking drivers door from inside will not open passenger side Locking both doors with the key, unlocking with the passenger door will not open drivers side almost as if the drivers side door is disconnected somehow? but only works with remote central locking.. very odd. Any ideas? My initial idea was to check if the interior door handle cable is still attached to the lock (shown at 6:22) Worth a look?? Last time i tried looking, i couldn't get the plastic tabs through the glass of the window and was scared of smashing a screwdriver into the window and breaking it .. Cheers
Hi Can anyone help / I have a Ford Fiesta Mk 6 and the front passenge rside door will not open from the outside or inside . The door lever inside is pressed in as its spring loaded and wanting to stay pressed in .When I try to release the door lever inside the car it just springs back . If I try and open the door handle from outside it un - responsive . Is there any way I can get the front passenger door open so I can take the door card out ? I have unscrewed and unbolted evverything as followed in your video, but with the door being locked it's diificult to detach the door card , although I'm sure with soem sheer strength it will lift . May add the window on the fron passenger side door works perfectly . All other doors and boot latch work perfectly . What moto should I replace and are they available . Any advice or help would be most welcome . Thank you for reading
Passenger door misbehaving only at Sainsbury car park ..Thought it might be water damage .. Constantly unblocking water hole, have to slam the door to move something in the door. . can take 20 times open shut ..One day the window will go bang ..
I’ve got a Ford Fiesta mk6 this happens on the passenger side door…..I have to keep closing it repeatedly until I can lock it…. But also when a passenger gets in it says passenger door is open when clearly it’s not… would this be the same problem as yours?
Hi mate, I had the exact same problem and it can be one of 2 things there’s a small chance that the wiring loom can be damaged due to water or being Chaffed causing it to short out or the more common thing is the locking mechanism shown in the video. Strip the door down and check the wiring loom you can test it with a multi meter if you have one. The test will make sure the wiring loom doesn’t have any damage through out it. If it all looks good no damage to the wires then change the door lock mechanism and that should solve it 👌🏻
The other issue is the tape holding the wiring loom came loose & can get caught up in hook that the glass sits in - as I’ve found out. One day I put my window up & stopped half way, opened it up & most of the wires were split I two… when I saw that I realised why my power mirrors wouldn’t work & the dash always showed the driver door open too.

Yo matt, I went ahead and done a replacement following your video and it fixed the issue, just wanted to come back and say thank you!

No problem! :)
Sometimes heating up the screws can help.

mine has this problem during spells of hot weather...takes about 3 attempts, open and closing of door to get it to recognise door is closed
Ahh mate great video! Literally started having this same problem recently.
Good job. It has helped me a lot.
But I'd like to know how you get the window back in place especially how those plastic tabs back through the window hole's?
Brilliant video. We have a Ford Fusion that has the same problem. I'm guessing that it is similar to the Fiesta?
I believe so yes!
@@mball1993 Thank you.

Do you need to remove the glass to replace the door latch or can it be left fully up?
You need to get the glass as far to the top as possible and get it un clipped.
How can I tell which side is the faulty one (2008 3 door) ?
The way I found out was by slamming each door hard until it locked as you can see in the beginning of the video. Turned out to be the drivers door 👍
I got the same problem
rather buy a new door.
You could, but for the sake of a couple of hours you may aswell do this.
Plus there’s a risk the new door wouldn’t match the paintwork etc.
