My first dog as a child was a German shepherd named Kilo she was a rescue. She kept me away from a copper head snake in the backyard. she would not let me go around her no matter what I tried as a 4 year old. She just gentle herded me and barked at a different tone that my Dad knew to come and check, he saw the snake and killed it. She saved my life and was always so gentle with us. I loved her til she crossed the rainbow bridge.
Beautiful beautiful German shepherd. Six German Shepherds owned me in my lifetime and I loved every single one of them. They simply are the best and if you own one enjoy every day because the time goes by way too fast. Now, I'm too old to own one but I can live on all the wonderful memories I had of each and every one of the ones that I had🧡
My goofball would bark at people wanting them to come closer to pet them or play. Not realizing it only scared people away from her. So she would bark more.
I grew up with a German shepherd and he was smart and mischievous and everyone in the neighborhood was scared of him; but at the end of the day he always cuddled up with us kids in a pile of blankets. He was gentle and loyal and a wonderful dog to us; miss him all the time.
Yes! I’m sure! ❤ I have my first German Shepherd in my 65 years. It’s great to finally have an intelligent Pooch who wouldn’t go to the bathroom in the house if her life depended on it. She was so easy to house train that I don’t even remember doing it and it was less than two years ago. Love my Minnie
Scariest mix I've seen was a border collie/Shepard, imagine a smaller German Shepard that was slightly more hyper active and scary smart that periodically stare at you (a lot)
My late German Shepherd was literally my soulmate. We hung out 24/7. We live in the country with alot of farm animals and Rambo ( that's his name 😊) was the overprotective mother hen for all the baby farm animals. He was my bestest friend for 13 years, making my childhood one of the best years of my life. I miss him terribly. BTW, their barks are impressively loud. Like a bowling, roaring kind of bark. ❤❤❤
Beautiful 😍 it's not as easy to have a German Shepherd go into older years it's great that you both had that experience. I had one go as long as 14 I grew up with them.
Those deep bass barks are Great crime deterrents! My son and his wife and baby lived in Tucson and had some sketchy neighbors…no break-ins at their house!
We got a pair about 20 years ago right after our girls were born. Raised puppies and twins together. They were inseparable. Great friends and great guardians of the pack.
@@mikhailbabushkinum You gotta brush them a LOT - like every couple of days, and vacuum up after them a lot, and they are prone to get ailments that muts are much less likely to get, things like hip displasia, and, especially horribly, stomach torque. Yeah, I had some different breeds, and yes, apart from the mortifying care of hair it's the best breed in the world. Most Intelligent, reactive, mentally active, with a very developed level of sociability, even empathy, no other dog will ever be so empathetic, perfectly understands every sign, language and type of communication we give him. What else to add? Great dogs.
The German Shepherd is without a doubt one of the most loyal mammals ever. I owned 2 different ones and they are amazingly wonderful, with extreme intelligence.
Ours isn't an escape artist. Digging and sticks. Our poor bushes and we should have taken advantage of the free excavation she provided when she was younger and installed a pool. Thank goodness she grew out of that stage. If only I could control the hair 😩 We love her bunches though 💜
Yes, YES! Rescued a gs who was labeled dangerous because of how she was caged. It's been a year, and after numerous items chewed n torn apart,a pool ripped to shreds and 1 window cracked...seen a cat..shes calmed down finally lol.Freah is absolutely not dangerous. Loves kids, and my husky. She's learned alot as well as teaching us. Best decision ever! She was definitely worth it!
I had a similar experience. The previous owner didn't want her because of her "aggression" towards dogs. It took a couple of weeks to come her down as she also hadn't been treated right. Three years later by my side, she is doing wonderful! Best decision I've ever made. Always better to adopt and rescue as there are so many dogs who need us.
@magali.bazzano I 100% agree!! So glad to hear your furbaby is doing great! Patience and consistency always works in the end. It's just finding that person...it takes a special kind of person/people for that. 🙏🙏
A good, knowledgeable dog trainer will tell you that it's not the dog, it's the ignorance of the owner of the dog. If a dog doesn't have a stable owner, how can a dog know to learn how to be? How can the dog be stable?
Yea they are lol. I have a shepherd and a Cane Corso and the Shepard gets very jealous if I give the Corso any attention. My shepherd was a rescue and he was neglected
One of my brothers had at least 3 through the years I was like 17 , it was summer, if I sat outside with a boy & he even leaned my direction he was on it . He was a cool ole boy. Someone just left him at the football field. He came home with brother. He was as smart as they come.
German Shepherds are all around awesome dogs. They're intelligent, loyal to a fault, loving, intimidating, defensive goofy and just pure fun. I always associate them with the police and military, which is an added bonus because I come from a military and police family grandparents on both sides served in the military, one marines and the other army. One served ww2 the other served in Vietnam. Dad was a cop for 26 years and all of them worked alongside k9 units for years. Absolute 💯 tier dogs.
They’ve got a lot of energy and require training very early on, but they are so worth it!! They are one of the most loving and loyal animals you will ever have the pleasure of being around. If you have kids, they will protect them at all costs. I remember my families first Shepard protecting me when I was really little. Anytime we had people over, he would circle me and keep a close eye on me and if anyone got too close he would growl and get between me and whoever that person was. He was never aggressive, but I knew he would protect me if anyone tried to hurt me. 💜
I just had to put my 14 year old Getman Shepherd to sleep because her hips were getting so bad she couldnt really do her day to day activities any longer and starting to be painful. I miss her tremendously! Lola was an awesome Shepherd
I am so sorry for your loss - you had many beautiful years together and that would never change - Your Lola felt your love as you felt hers and that is such an immense blessing
💔😢 They leave such a big empty spot in our hearts and lives when gone. I had to say adieu to my good boy of 14 years also, in July. We can be thankful for the memories of all their faithful, devoted companionship and the time we did share with them. I pray you find comfort as your heart heals. 🙏😔🐾
My last GS boy we had to say goodbye to he had DM and the deterioration of that disease to watch my once active high energy boy succumb to that disease is disaster. We took him weekly sometimes twice a week for therapy-underwater treadmill, exercise, tens unit, laser, etc for just about 1 year & none of that stopped his deterioration 😢14 yrs + 2weeks 💔
No, i will never get a German shepherd ever again. After all these years, i still mourn the passing of my beloved Kaiser. He was my best friend from the time i can remember. There isn't a day that goes by without me remembering him. I can't get another GS and wait for the inevitable heartbreak.. again..
I'm going through that but with Samoyeds. I'm putting my toe in the water helping a friend adopt a GSD. I'm going to be training the animal (if he needs any), and acclimating him to fun. I know very little about the dog, but I know dogs. I have 2 weeks with him as my friend goes on vacation and I have a doggo for 2 weeks. I've never had a GSD, but my cousins did - I got along with them fine. But yeah, I know what it's like to lose a good friend you spent 14 years keeping healthy and happy, only to have to put them down. I was an expert on all their diseases. Both mine got to 16 but you cannot prevent the inevitable. Really sucks they don't NORMALLY make it to 30. That would have been perfect.
I've had three German shepherds in my life... two females one male They are absolutely wonderful They are the best friends you will ever have and you never have to be afraid of anything.... They look out for you they take care of you and they love you to death and all you have to do is throw the tennis ball
@@helmerdanilo8299 good question. When a dog will look you in the eye and not turn away. My GSD will look into my eyes and not turn her head. I have had dogs that just can’t do that. Doesn’t mean if they can’t or won’t they are not loyal, smart or good dogs. It was something that was brought to my attention when I was a vet tech.

He could lye flat with only his nose pocking out under the duvet. I had four bedrooms to search before I found him. A gentle giant. ❤

Had many dogs in my life, luckily, had three German Shepherds. They are the best. Most intelligent, loyal, so friendly, beautiful and all that. I just love them.
3 years ago I adopted Summit a German Shephard husky mix from KC Pet Project in Zona Rosa. They got him 2 hours prior to my meeting him from St Louis MO and knew nothing about him. He was skin and bones😢 As soon as he met my beagle healer mix and the ladies at KCPP took them for a small walk to see how they interacted with eachother they walked down the sidewalk side by side and peed on the same bush and we knew then he was coming home with us. Best decision we ever made was adopting him.
One of the most intelligent of all the dog breads. they are extremely easy to train. it's why they were favored by the military and law enforcement for many years.
All German shepherds are unique, they have their own quirks and personalities! I had two shepherds in my lifetime, and they were truly family, blessings from God, and I wouldn't have traded them for anything else.
We loved our German Shepherd! She would wait for my brother and I to get home from school. She was a rescue from the Humane Society. Her one flaw was she loved to chase cars! We could never break her of this bad habit. Fortunately, she only suffered a few injuries from her bad habit. Where ever my brother and me went, she was there with us!
As a person who lost my 100lb, city pound adopted, 10y.o. in this past year to a rare sarcoma/cancer where she went from 100% to paraplegic in 1 week. The answer is Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes Yes. Best & smartest big dog of the breeds. Now I'm going to go cry.
My family had Prince and princess. We lost the house keys because they were always there in the window and by the door. Fierce protection, serious eaters, curious, and will sleep on your couch. Rest in peace love forever from the family.
My aunt & uncle had 2 named Duchess & Lady that I grew up around. Those dogs were so amazing. They saved my cousin from a wild boar when she was a kid, & once they treed the postman, (1st day on the job & they didn’t know him), he had to stay up in that tree for nearly 3 hours until someone came home & called the dogs off. They were inside the house when the family left, but Duchess could open & unlock just about any kind of door, so when a strange man came into their property, well…they said hell no! Not in their watch. They obviously lived in a rural area with wild boars attacking & stuff. They had a rather large property with a long drive towards the house & mailbox so it was rare for a stranger to enter their property. I used to spend summers there, so they considered me a pack member. There was never a moment when I didn’t feel safe in their presence.
German shepherds are my absolute favorite dog!! I have had them all my life and you will never have such a smart loyal funny companion!! They are amazing 🐾🤩 💕
German Shepherds don't dig holes in your yard, they digs trench lines. German shepherds don't attack invaders and burglars, they just neutralize the enemy. German shepherds don't bark, they just mimic the sound of artillery fire to confuse the enemy.

They simply are the best and if you own one enjoy every day because the time goes by way too fast. Now, I'm too old to own one but I can live on all the wonderful memories I had of each and every one of the ones that I had🧡
Soo relatable! They can be really impressive when they bark at strangers but they're just so silly sometimes!
Very intelligent very obedient and faithful breed
@@mariocooldude9092 also quite energetic
For a split second i thought u text said "i grew up as a german sheperd"...
Now, get out your bubble and watch some videos of these so called non aggressive animals doing what the creator designed them to do.
Yes! I’m sure! ❤
I have my first German Shepherd in my 65 years. It’s great to finally have an intelligent Pooch who wouldn’t go to the bathroom in the house if her life depended on it. She was so easy to house train that I don’t even remember doing it and it was less than two years ago. Love my Minnie
Gross
Same for mine! One mess when he was a puppy, that's it. No work on my part, he simply would never make a mess inside. Same for chewing on things.
@@OliveDNorth cool! Yep mine doesn’t chew anything that isn’t hers. Soft juicy guitar cables all over the floor. Has never. ❤️
Mine will hold it till they explode 😂 they are so good fr idk how they hold it in for so long (4 hrs away from the house) crazy
Yes, yes 1000 times yes I want a German Shepherd! Best dogs ever!!!💕
My favorite breed, bar none. Intelligent and loving
Yep, they are absolutely awesome. I have a big longhaired GSD myself and he is like a kid to me, I love him like family!!!
Far better than your average Am......😏😂😂 !!!
Wonderful dogs!!!

Mine it’s also 13 and a half… I love him
Beautiful 😍 it's not as easy to have a German Shepherd go into older years it's great that you both had that experience. I had one go as long as 14 I grew up with them.
Those deep bass barks are Great crime deterrents! My son and his wife and baby lived in Tucson and had some sketchy neighbors…no break-ins at their house!

And after the pups passed we got three more.
Best dogs EVER. Best creatures on earth EVER. High maintenance, but loving, loyal, protective, personable, and friently.
May I ask why you said high maintenance?
@@mikhailbabushkinum You gotta brush them a LOT - like every couple of days, and vacuum up after them a lot, and they are prone to get ailments that muts are much less likely to get, things like hip displasia, and, especially horribly, stomach torque. From where you are how much it's age it's it vaccinated yearly and deforming also done sis
Absolutely the best.
Great dogs.
Omg I just wrote the same thing then I saw your post lol
Yes. Without any hesitation at all. I want.
They are the sweetest beastie and wonderful all-around pet and family doggo, mate. 🐕 😃
Couldn't be without my boy!!! He's called shadow for a reason - he's always there!!!
The German Shepherd is without a doubt one of the most loyal mammals ever. I owned 2 different ones and they are amazingly wonderful, with extreme intelligence.
A little too intelligent if you ask me 🤨

The best intelligent and faithful dog for whole family.very responsible by nature.
I as a GSD owner all my life agree with you, but also Rottweiler and Pitbull's make fantastic family dogs with that little extra...
We just adopted one and she’s by far the best dog I’ve ever had. Extremely sweet. But extremely protective.
@@magali.bazzanoHats off to you for persisting.
A good, knowledgeable dog trainer will tell you that it's not the dog, it's the ignorance of the owner of the dog. If a dog doesn't have a stable owner, how can a dog know to learn how to be? How can the dog be stable?

German Shepherds are all around awesome dogs. They're intelligent, loyal to a fault, loving, intimidating, defensive goofy and just pure fun. I always associate them with the police and military, which is an added bonus because I come from a military and police family grandparents on both sides served in the military, one marines and the other army. One served ww2 the other served in Vietnam. Dad was a cop for 26 years and all of them worked alongside k9 units for years. Absolute 💯 tier dogs.
I have always loved German Shepherds.
Same
Do you have a German shepherd
@@johannafriedt6362The strong pure love for your GSD really shows. You were both blessed to have each other. My condolences. 😔💔🙏
The first little snippet of his expressive eyes is so cute 🥰
why are you so pathetic? Stop with the emojis, this is why you got bullied, you are boring and cringe
The very best friend and companion one could ever have. And outstanding beautiful dogs.
That would have been perfect.
wow you are so sad, cry more, kiddo
Other than the hair and the fact that when they want something, they want it NOW and won't shut up until they get it? They're amazing dogs!
Agree 💯 lol

3 years ago I adopted Summit a German Shephard husky mix from KC Pet Project in Zona Rosa. They got him 2 hours prior to my meeting him from St Louis MO and knew nothing about him. He was skin and bones😢 As soon as he met my beagle healer mix and the ladies at KCPP took them for a small walk to see how they interacted with eachother they walked down the sidewalk side by side and peed on the same bush and we knew then he was coming home with us. Best decision we ever made was adopting him.

Huh? House keys? I don't get it. 😕
