Thank's Tom
I love your Videos. My Sister is a big Mai Tai Fan so i will surprise her with your version and I'm sure she will love it 🎉
Sooo wifey finally got done with work and the Mrs. Said on a scale from 1 to 10 it was a 20!
F**K YEAH!!!!
I still have half a bottle batched in my fridge. Video coming on thag soon. Glsd she liked it
Will try this!!!!
I recently realized why I prefer mai tai to other cocktails, I just like almonds, in food, in desserts, and then I discovered that they are also in mai tai.
So I started experimenting with it, I don't have orgeat, but I do have DiSaronno, and that what I have been using, all other components pretty much similar to your version. My understanding is that although DiSaronno tastes like almond, it is actually created from apricot pits, but still, I like that taste.
Great presentation!
Thank you for your comment.
I recently (well when that video was made, so last year) decided I love mai tai's. In fact it has been a while since I've had one, so I might whip one up tomorrow . :) - thanks for stopping by, hope to see your views on another video in the future :)
Dammmm.... That was good!! And my in laws just gave a big a.. Mint plant today! Lord I am in trouble now! Lol and your right the kraken on top was amazing!
Everyone should have mint growing in their garden. I say that without one mint plant in my life hahahaha. It died last year 😕
New take on a classic. Gonna try it tonight. Thanks Tom
I hope it worked out well for you 🙂👍🏻
I use wray nephew or tiki fire to make my drinks flamible. Makes cocktails look eye catching
I LOVE TIKI fire. Sooooo good.
I am trying this tonight! I made the trader Vic one the other night.. But this one looks so good!... I am deff. A rum girl! My fav is Black Magic Black Rum. I just have to wait till the wifey gets home from work too she will want to try it too!..
Black magic rum sounds interesting. Gonna have to check it out at some point.
@@tomdyercocktails5161 it is amazing.. ! You really can pick out the spices in that spice rum! I like kraken but LOVE BLACK MAGIC RUM!
Just made this drink for my dad and for a little extra garnish I used half a lime that I'd squeezed the juice out of and put a high proof alcohol soaked sugar cube and sprinkled down some cinnamon powder
Needless to say it didn't last a minute!
hahahahahahhahahha.....I do love a cocktail with fire. I mean who doesn't. Well played :)
Can’t go wrong with Kraken! Great looking cocktail. Can’t wait to try it!
EXACTLY> This man knows!!! (or woman, I can't tell by the name) sorry 🙃
@@tomdyercocktails5161 I’m a dude. Rex. Nice to meet you sir! Enjoy all your videos and thanks for taking the time to reply to our comments!
Nice one. Thanks Rex I was pretty sure you were a dude, but i have been wrong sometimes 🤣
For a basic, reasonably priced mai tai, start with Appleton signature rum from Jamaica.
Great bro..!!! I Don't speak English. But You are Big 👍👍
Thank you. Gracias, Grazie, Obrigado, Xei Xei :)
Damn bro
You’re good
I wanna be dis good
The Kraken rum float is a beautiful touch, love it! Super sexy Mai Tai Tom!
super sexy and tasty, thanks :)
This video just made me bought 2 new bottles of liquor just to make it
Hahahahaha. Yes. I end up doing that for the videos. I go for one bottle at the shop and end up buying 3 or 4 🤣
On my way to liquor store! This are the best days!
YES Flo. Don;'t drink too many...or do and be careful :)
My mix is damiseau agricole at 50 abv and Appleton 12. Pass on the kraken prefer oftd.
Damn that's looks so good!!! They just go down so easy 😂
You know it. I made a GIANT Mai Tai straight after this video and it is bottled up in my fridge ready to pour whenever I need :)
@@tomdyercocktails5161 Awww Man!! Would love to do that!!!
Love Mai Thai's! I've also experimented with using Black Walnut & Angostura bitters with the Kraken rum as a float over the crushed ice. Makes for a lovely darker colour as well as an awesome punchy flavour hit 💪🏽😁
Oh yes oh yes. A friend of mine add elemakule bitters to his mai tai's. That was super cool too.
@@tomdyercocktails5161 ooooooh 🔥
The Mai-Tai is definitely among my top 3-5 favorite drinks, so easy to drink, refreshing as hell and so many great different layers of flavor.
My two cents on this one:
We've toyed around with the amaretto/simple syrup combination as well but ended up preferring the (homemade) Orgeat over any alternative, feels more aromatic and genuine( I guess?)
When it comes to the orange liqueur my #1 would be Pierre Ferrand's Dry Curacao over the Cointreau but I suppose that's just a matter of personal preference.
I really like the rum float idea but I'm not too big of a fan of Kraken's tbh, but haven't played around with it to be sure.
Have also seen some bars barrel aging their standard Wray and Nephew and diluting it down to a moderate of % by vol and using it as a base spirit to sort of try to recreate the original recipe, definitely wanna give it a shot myself once I get my hands on a small aging barrel.
Oh and by the way I'm pretty positive the pronunciation wouldn't be Org-ey but Org-ah
Great info Justus.
I definitely want a small barrel as well. So much can be done with a little aging and wood flavour. mmmmmmm
My recipe for Mai Tai is very similar to yours, except that instead of using Kraken Rum, I used French JM Rhum. But now I really want to use Kraken Rum to make a cup of Mai Tai (it also makes a nice color of Mai Tai)😋😋
This is what i live about the Mai Tai. Its made in so many different ways. It makes the endless.
Orgeat is pronounced Or-zhaat if you speak English or Or-zhaah if you speak french.
Love this potent version! I was questioning switching the lime juice with Velvet Falernum, but... would that be too boozy for James Bond?
James Bond. Does he drink Mai Tai's these days? There are no wrong answers as long as you enjoy the cocktail :)
A shot is 1.5 ounces.
Dry sweetness? Huh?
Kraken is a really bad rum.
And spiced rum doesn't belong in the mai tai.
Try Koloa dark rum from Hawaii for the floater.
Ummm... 1944.
White rum doesn't belong in a mai tai.
Amaretto is ridiculous.
