🤘 🎸 I chose to take Rock History as a elective for college. Yes it was an easy A, but still a great class. Especially when we got to listen to songs and write a page essay for extra credit. The parental advisory sticker totally backfired and it was hilarious.
Ah, you have me out of my comfort zone here, I usually only love acoustic music (classical, jazz & bluegrass), but my son-in-law loves heavy metal, & this would make an amazing Christmas present. I love your enthusiasm & knowledge, & you have me very curious (well, for my son-in-law, anyway). Thanks for another wonderful video.
I'm over here crying into my Cannibal Corpse and Kataklysm cds after watching this 😂 Great review Nicole, I might have to track this book down. Metallica are my favourite band so I don't mind them being a focus.
Great discussion. I like both Metallica and Megadeth. I think Megadeth is more consistent in the albums. But Metallica is a better live band. I think Metallica transcended metal. One band I hope the book talks about prominently is Iron Maiden. They were my gateway into heavy metal. I got the Piece of Mind album around 1983. Iron Maiden with Twisted Sister opening was my first metal concert. I did listen to some death metal and black metal bands in the mid to late aughts. I did like them, but your point about the vocals is a good one. Even when I was reading the lyrics while listening to the song, if I lost my place, I couldn't find it. I often wonder why they even tried to create lyrics when listerers can't understand them
Okay but how do you not notice the publication date and complain about dates being left out when it ends at a certain point in time? 😂 Heavy metal doesn't summon Satan? I don't believe you! 😈

@@Adventures_in_Literature love that! I wish I took a Rock History class but there wasn’t any open, sadly.

@@apoetreadstowrite that would be a great bookish gift! 🎁
I remember the PMRC hearing back in the eighties (basically because of the Satanic panic). I loved Dee Sniders speech.
Dee is AMAZING!
This sounds like a cool book and I’m bummed it’s out of print. Will need to be on the hunt!
@@authoreloisebahr they have used copies on Amazon 👏🏻

I hope you can find it! It was kinda hard for me in the U.S, so I hope you can get it where you are.
@NicolesBookishNook I've looked on Ebay and it's going for about £10 so not too bad for an oop book.
@ Oohh that’s awesome! 😎
