  • These are my top 12 stops to make on your way to Ucluelet and Tofino, BC. If I missed anything be sure to add it in the comment section below.
    12. The Abyss in Nanaimo, BC. The Abyss is a large crack in the ground caused by an earthquake. The Abyss is about 16 inches wide and two hundred meters long. It's an easy 30 minute walk from the road and such a neat spot. If you've ever wanted to see want a earthquake can do up close and in person this is a must visit.
    11. Top Bridge Regional Trail in Parksville, BC. This quant little park 5 minutes off the highway is a nice spot to stop and relax. Loaded with beautiful nature features, the Englishman River and lots of trails this is a easy stop to make.
    10. Englishman River Falls Provincial Park. This stop is a 30 minute drive out of the way but I felt like I had to include it. The upper falls is located 5 minutes from the parking lot and just a beautiful site to see. Multiple trails with the Lower Falls a short 30 minute hike from the parking lot. Here you'll find some nice spots for cliff jumping and crystal clear water. If you have the time consider camping at the Englishman River Falls Provincial Campground.
    9. Goats on the Roof in Coombs, BC. This tourist attraction has long been a highlight in the region. It's exactly how it sounds, it's a country market with goats on the roof but there's a lot more to see and do here. You can also visit the multiple other business in the area such a Billy G Donuts, Billy's Ice Cream shop, there's a candy shop plus the statue cemetery.
    8. Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park. This is another park located 5 minutes off the highway. Another easy stop with beautiful walking trails.
    7. Macmillan Provincial Park. Just pasted Cameron Lake you'll find yourself driving through Macmillan Provincial Park. This park is loaded with huge west coast trees, tons of unbelievable spots to take pictures and one of British Columbia most visited parks.
    6. The Hole in the Wall in Port Alberni. This man made hole isn't a big tourist attraction yet but I think it could be. It a great spot for more pictures and the peaceful creek that runs though here will definitely have a calming effect.
    5. The city of Port Alberni. This city was actually a lot bigger and nicer than I expected. Definitely stop here and pick up anything you'll need here. Food, propane, gasoline everything in Port Alberni will be cheaper then what you find in Ucluelet and Tofino, BC.
    4. The Twin City Brewery Company in Port Alberni. This brewery was located just one block off the highway and they had an excellent selection of food and drink options.
    3. Coombs Country Candy in Port Alberni. The sign is hard to miss. Just before you get into the city of Port Alberni you'll see this one of a kind candy shop. Everything's handmade, delicious and a little expensive. It's worth visiting.
    2. Sproat Lake just outside Port Alberni. There are several lake you can stop on your way to Ucluelet and Tofino, BC. Cameron Lake just before Macmillan Provincial Park and Kennedy Lake just before you get into Ucluelet but we stop at Sproat Lake. Any of the three lakes are a must visit.
    1. Wally Creek. Right along the Pacific Rim Highway you'll come across Wally Creek. A local landmark and great place to stop and relax just before you get into Ucluelet and Tofino.

DUDE!!! At 7:57 at Hole In The Wall, I can see my initials carved in the tree! I carved C+C on our visit there in September 2016! We’re from Ireland. You’ve made my night.

I have to say it, Cathedral Grove is nothing compared to Avatar Grove near Port Renfrew. Twice as awesome with half the crowds!

The lower falls at Englishman River is freezing in the summer. Notice the dude wearing his wet suit. Unless you tried the water I wouldn't go recommending you go swim in there unless you like freezing water. Coombs is pronouced COOms
like coo coo clock not combs like a hair comb.
