Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark is basically taking dudes like Jamal Murray, Zion Williamson all the way to a top seed after they were a lottery team. Or basically, if someone comes in and takes the Pistons or Wizards or Hawks to the top 4 seed in the conference--that would be what Caitlin Clark is doing in terms of NBA. I'd vote 100% of the time for that random upstart to take an awful team +6 in league standings and then towards a winning record after they were awful for like half a decade. Imagine a rookie came in and took this year's Detroit Pistons to the top 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. That is what Caitlin Clark did in the WNBA this year.
I tend to agree that the Clark vs. Wilson Rivalry would be closer to Bird vs. Johnson. However, Las Vegas and Indianapolis do not have the history of Celtics vs. Lakers. Fever's problem is being in the East and Aces in the west division. Of the teams in the East, I would suggest Stewart vs. Clark as a possible rivalry. I think a more natural and compelling rivalry will be Caitlyn v. Paige. Similar physically and in terms of skill so it would be fun pitting them against each other.
Also in the last 7 yrs the MVP has come from the 1st or 2nd place finishers. Will the Aces be one of the final teams , maybe not. Liberty Lynx , and Sun looking like the top 3 , can the Fever slip in there, remains to be seen.

If standings stay as they are, Fever have to beat Lynx and Aces the Liberty in order to meet in the final game. I don't think either is likely. If Indiana beats Connecticut, and CC is the best rookie of all time, beats the all-time assists record, is the highest in assists + pts this season, and is the lone change in a basement team to turn them into a winning playoff team, how is CC not the MVP? BTW, season MVP should put 0s into the ppg average when the player is out for any reason.
No, you have it wrong. They would play the Sun (3rd), then the Lynx (2nd, or the 7th seed) in the semis, then the winner of the Liberty (1st) and Aces (4th) (or the 5 or 8 seeds) in the Finals.
Hey what can I say....some people have it others don't. No matter what you do there might be somethings you can do to ameliorate the issue but in the end you are who you are. I don't dislike Angel but I sure ain't in love with the woman....now CC on the other hand has cachet and yes I could worship the ground she walks on. Is CC perfect? Of course not, but in comparison to Angel is this really a comparison?
carrington got a wide mouth , fake hair and mediocre abilities ; plus she is girlfriend of [ Fever player Nalysa smith ] ..... not to mention talent is absolutely not on CC level , won't be convincing .
I think MAYBE for the next 2-3 years this COULD be a rivalry. But to be fair, I think Boeckers will be the rival for CC from next season on, if she plays good. And if the league really needs a black woman to be her rival (I think its stupid, but americans need race for some reason) then JuJu will be CC's rival in 3 years. She will be the young and upcoming College star to rival CC at her position. And to be fair, I think JuJu will do everything humanly possible to break CC's college scoring record. She will take 30 shots if needed. And then the black media has the black athlete that broke CC's record to challenge her in the WNBA. I think its all stupid. Everybody acknowledged MJ as the best player in the league pretty much from the start. Doesnt mean he was on the best team and won right away... but he was still the clear cut best player in the league and rivalries werent between MJ and another player, they were MJ vs the top teams. 1st MJ vs the Celtics, then MJ vs the Pistons, then MJ vs the entire league after his 1st championship! But it was never MJ vs Bird, or MJ vs Thomas or MJ vs anyone for "best player"... So thats how this should work from now on. Not CC vs Reese, or CC vs Wilson. Lets see how the PO go and it should be CC vs the Lynx, or CC vs the Sun (makes most sense as of now), or CC vs the Liberty... whatever team beats her in the playoffs more then once... if that will even happen...
Yes, but Paige is not in the league yet, can't promote what is not there, same for JuJu. Also, players with long careers don't have only one rival. I don't agree with your individual vs team rivalry theory but my answer would be too long and it's late lol, call in Monday to discuss please
Caitlin is NOT in a rivalry with anyone! She just wants to win games and I wish everyone would stop trying to get in her mind and decide what she is thinking. she is a rookie....leave her alone!!!!!
no one is trying to “get into her mind” and “decide what she is thinking.” some of us are trying to predict what will transpire in the future careers of players who matter and to the sport itself. and no one believes for one moment that you care about caitlin clark any more than any of us do, although you seem like a decent person like our hosts seem to be
Competitive sports is about competition and rivalry. Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston were at one point rivals now they are teammates and friends. Caitlin more than anyone understands this. So, as fans of Caitlin, we are not harming her in anyway, but celebrating her talent by comparing her to GREAT basketball players.
You can only promote a rivalry that actually exists. CC & Angel have history. CC & A'ja do not. Magic & Bird also had an extended time playing against each other (i.e. 3 championships + numerous regular season games). After this season's playoffs, how about next WNBA marketing focus being Paige Bueckers rookie induction?
A'ja is a much better player than Reese (and so is Breanna). But both of those are rather unnatural. Those players are at different positions and Reese also is a big. Magic and Larry were also about the same size. I guess that Paige (coming this draft) is a much more logical match, if she turns out to be as good as some people think. Trying to make a "Kareen verses Isaiah" rivalry does not make sense. They won't end up matching up during the games. I think team rivalries like Lakers verses Celtics make more sense but that requires both teams to be head and shoulders above the other teams. The Fever are not there yet, but maybe next year.
Magic and Bird may have been the same size but also played different positions and rarely went to head to head either so I stand by my assessment. What matters is that the level of talent is comparable.
Nonsense catlin is the best player RIGHT NOW!!!! If you had one player to take to start a franchise would you take Aja over catlin!!! NEVER CAUSE CATLIN WILL MAKE YOUR TEAM MUCH BETTER THAN Aja remember Aja was 6-6 to start the season with 2 more Olympians on the team till Gray came back tha 10-2..Catlin is the MVP ..
Exactly. It’s all been a distraction cause apparently they promised Aja the MVP
I think, I subscribed this time because Mark and Rob have a clear idea of how women think😂😂😂

forward vs guard? how do you compare them?
Ask Bird and Magic.
Nahhh! For a good rivalry you need two players that actually interact, I’d say the best matchup for Caitlin would be Carrington on the Connecticut Sun
Bird and Magic did not interact either so I stand by my assessment
carrington got a wide mouth , fake hair and mediocre abilities ; plus she is girlfriend of [ Fever player Nalysa smith ] ..... not to mention talent is absolutely not on CC level , won't be convincing .
@@straightchad8059 yeah I think smith is trying to get traded to the sun
not much of a rivalry talent-wise. a prime diana taurasi would have made a perfect rival but the dino is about to become extinct
Or Chennedy Carter
Neither were Magic or Bird but they became friendly rivals
Reese is out so there needs to be another villain I guess. 🤷
no one is trying to “get into her mind” and “decide what she is thinking.” some of us are trying to predict what will transpire in the future careers of players who matter and to the sport itself. and no one believes for one moment that you care about caitlin clark any more than any of us do, although you seem like a decent person like our hosts seem to be
Competitive sports is about competition and rivalry.
They will have history when they start meeting in the playoffs -- which will probably happen a lot
I don't agree, next year
That's what everyone said in the beginning next year 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
First time hearing this idea I agree.
Thanks
