    I have my bike’s side stand propped up on a block of wood, so it is leaning but not too far. This makes it so much easier to lift it onto the paddock stand because it starts in an far more upright position. This works for me

      By the sounds of it, this is quite a common practice. It can be a bit fiddly trying to hold the bike upright and line up the stand. I am always worried I am going to lean too far and have the bike fall the other way.

      @@The_Scottish_Biker As a matter of interest, I’ve just sold my Harley 1200 custom and ordered a 21 model Speedmaster. What make of paddock stand do you use for your Speedmaster. Not sure if my existing one will be usable

      Its a bobber I have but very similar to the speedmaster. The stand is an Oxford Premium. I did a bit of research before hand and it seems it is a common stand used, or at least the Triumph forums suggest so. Retails for about £65 in the UK on Amazon.

      @@The_Scottish_Biker Thanks for getting back to me. I’m UK based as well. I expect to pick it up at the beginning of next week so your reply has come in very handy. Thanks again

    I have a different design paddock stand for my Speedmaster - as you say it takes a bit of getting used to the technique - I had a help the first time from my son holding the bars while going on the stand and coming off it, but now I’ve done it myself a good few times

      If I am honest I was nervous the 1st time I used it. You quickly realise that once you have it latched on the bobbins and push the weight onto the stand, it is completely secure. Its just that short moment of trying to push the stand without letting the bike lean too far into you and fall over.
      On a separate note, how do you like the Speedmaster?

    I just purchased a triumph speedmaster a couple of weeks ago..the bike is great I love it so far… except the fact that it didn’t come with a center stand..and according to the dealer can not install one..I knew this going in to the sale so it’s the one thing that put me off but decided to buy it anyway…for years I’ve been riding bikes that all had drive shafts… so going back to riding a bike with a chain was a little strange for me…okay so now I’m cleaning and lubing the chain… what a pain in the a$$… look.. the way I see it all chain bikes should come with a center stand….if the manufacturer doesn’t want to put a center stand on it… they should make it a belt drive …it’s the only thing I don’t like about the speedmaster so far….. I’m looking at conversion kits now…

      I love the speedmaster. I was tempted for that suspension.
      Yep I cant argue that it is a pain. I cleaned my chain yesterday and no matter how hard you try, its making a mess. I am still going down the road of trial and error to find the best combo that works for me. I made up a shield from cardboard for the wheel, cleaned the chain with WD40 and a brush, lubed it… and still had to clean the wheel.
      Having the bike on the paddock stand makes this task so much easier. Before I had it, I would move the bike down the driveway a foot or two at a a time to rotate the chain. A right pain.
      Never ridden a belt drive bike. I can see the benefits for cleanliness.

      There clean… not need lube.. ever… and should last the life of the bike..I believe I read that it would last 100,000 miles…in that time you need to replace the chain and sprockets around 5 times… down side they say you loose a little power to the rear wheel… a very little… shouldn’t even notice really….

    • @buzzy1011
      @buzzy1011 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why I think the manufacturer.. if they don’t want to put a center stand on the bike .. fine… put a belt drive on it…. Or at least give me the option to buy one to install… you can’t even put one on these bikes..

    It looks like the 2 central bolts of your paddock are not fully thightened!! Manual states 44 nm of torque, that's a lot. If you do so, the paddock will become rock solid, way more than in your video. Good luck with it and thx for the video!

    • @The_Scottish_Biker
      @The_Scottish_Biker  ปีที่แล้ว

      By 2 central bolts, do you mean the through bolts clamping the two sections together? They are very tight, though not had the torque wrench on them. I will have a check to see what they are at. Thanks for the input, I dont remember if i had a manual.

    • @er6fboy
      @er6fboy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@The_Scottish_Biker yes, those 2. To ensure the stand is straight, I had both of my feet on the stand and 1 hand to push the wheels down. With the other hand, I torque the bolt down. Takes 5', but worth it, There is and should be 0 flex at all in these stand doing this Vey happy with mine!

    • @The_Scottish_Biker
      @The_Scottish_Biker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure it is solid but I will have a look and check it as you say. Thanks again.
