Oaker if you make a second steel plate to sandwich your bow arms between it would keep them straight. Then tie the leaf spring directly to the PVC bow arm. You lose major tension with the small trampoline spring.
Harpy Smurfday Ben! Oaker: replace the tramp springs with a turnbuckle. A dog tie out from the dollar store will make a good string but might need to go to hardware store for shortening cable clamps. Broom handles from the next aisle are good ammo. Get the string a little lower in the aim pipe for better distance! Look up Penobscot bow for design help. The Romans could get 300+yds with one of those with wood arms and hemp rope for torsion springs! You should be able to get 200 with that setup. I might back your steel plate with a wood 4x4, especially behind the springs. Murrie: shoulda made vodka. Best use of potatoes, ever.
We make that here in Ireland with potatoes , we call it potgene , back in the day when the Irish went to the Americas , lots of us went from county Antrim , and most the folks from there were called Hill Willaim, that gets shortend down to Hill Billy and they took with them there potgene aka moonshine , just a touch of history . god bless all in youre house sir .
