Hey I got up early on Boxing Day especially to capture the lifeboat crews getting ready for launch. We were blessed with bright, if not breezy weather. I’ve seen the Boxing Day dip done in a blizzard with snow almost to the waters edge 🥶

A great turnout and a very well filmed video
A wee bit further up the coast, at Whitley Bay there was also a swim, but it's on New Year's Day. A couple of hundred brave souls took part this year.. I wanted to join them, but decided to film them instead .. still got my feet wet though.

Cheers Steve, wanted to capture the Lifeboat crews setting up so got down nice and early. The people do look like ants from above. We’re a strange lot us Northeners, people were getting out the sea and going for fish’n’chips and a lemon top 😂

What a great event! What were the temperature like?

It was reasonably mild about 6°c but breezy, the North Sea is just always cold 😂 I’ve seen this event when it’s been snowing with laying snow on the beach. They walk along the Esplanade behind a piper and someone carrying the Union flag 🇬🇧 It always turns to a stampede down the slipway.
