    I used cloth diapers on our now adult children. I’ve never had to diaper a baby less than 8lbs; but this is wonderful information!!! ❤️😀

    Oo! Thank you for this.
    I've just been modifying the regular origami fold for my baby. It works fine but its still huge lol. I'll have to give this a try today!

    Looks great. The room essentials fst looks better than the mainstays. The sides always use to roll in so much.

      Omg yes! I bought the mainstay fst for my kitchen and they are SOOOOO thin and rough. The room essentials brand is way better quality.

    This exact fold was great for my tiny newborn daughter until she hit about 8lbs. It does a great job of containing poop and holds a lot more pee than a prefold. It's a bit bulky but if your baby is too small for your covers it can help them fit better. After daughter outgrew it, we just yanked out those first 4 corner folds about an inch each to create a slightly bigger diaper. We'll keep inching it out until she is big enough for standard size origami fold.

    I’m due 2 months from today and all I know about diapering is that I don’t want to use disposable! Started doing my research today and I’m surprised at how simple the flour sack towels seem. Thank you! 👶🏻 🍼

    thank u so much for the tutorial. May I know how frequently should be change the fold..immediately after one pee or poop time??

    • @LeahMargaret
      @LeahMargaret  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d changed it every time they soil it.

    • @94cokegirl
      @94cokegirl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      After every poop or every 2 hours when they’re little like that. As they get older you can usually go longer in between changes as they pee less often and you’ll have higher absorbency flats or prefolds as they get older. Some babies are fine with just flour sack towels the whole time, for my kids they outgrew the absorbency of flour sack towels on their own around a year. For night they didn’t work on their own at all but I could combine two of them together or add a hemp insert or cotton prefold to it and it would last for night until around 8/9 months

    How is the absorbency of this compared to the gmd newborn prefolds?

    • @LeahMargaret
      @LeahMargaret  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Similar, but I think the gmd prefold was definitely more absorbent. But I will say the fst gave a pretty trim fit. I was surprised.

  • @ya00007
    @ya00007 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What was the orange fastener called? Is there a website link to it? Also how do you wash the nappies (is there a video)? And how many times can you reuse the nappies?

    • @LeahMargaret
      @LeahMargaret  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fasteners are called snappis. I think I purchased mine on Amazon- here is a link-
      [Original 5-pack] Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners - Replaces Diaper Pins - Use with Cloth Prefolds and Cloth Flats www.amazon.com/dp/B004YWKWJO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_7AQKSGACMHE2KGKK936X?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
      Washing is kind of a personal thing, as there are a lot of opinions on how to do it. I didn’t take it too seriously. Here is how I washed the diapers for a breastfed newborn: th-cam.com/video/FrucVZjIgFY/w-d-xo.html
      After starting solids or if using formula, you just have to drop poop in toilet and rinse prior to washing.
      As far as reusing the diapers, it depends on the kind your using. Covers can be used a few times while just replacing the soiled inserts. All in ones and pockets would need to be washed after one soil.

    When to change one cloth? After a pee or when wetness felt out?

    • @LeahMargaret
      @LeahMargaret  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My little one usually would tell me when they were wet or uncomfortable with crying or fussing and I’d change them then.

    has anyone tried this at home? Any real life expercience? Would love to try this but i'm afraid to. How well does it absorb? Until what month can you use this for your baby?

    • @LeahMargaret
      @LeahMargaret  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually used this for my newborn. It worked for the first few weeks to a month as this particular fold is quite small. But I continued to use the flour sack towels in other folds and as added absorbency for a long time.

    • @LeahMargaret
      @LeahMargaret  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are very cheap and can be used outside of diapers as well.

    • @creativecheersoffashionlau7364
      @creativecheersoffashionlau7364 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have used them on my son till he was 1 year old. Then it got all too wet but it worked like a dream. And no disposable diapers. He turns 19 years old next year( ofcourse I didn’t use them anymore for past 17 years)

    • @94cokegirl
      @94cokegirl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t used this fold yet as I didn’t cloth diaper my first two from birth, but I have used flour sack towels in bigger folds for my kids and the absorbency held up nice on their own for the first year during the day. Then they didn’t hold enough on their own

      Oh another thing, how many hours does this lasts to your little one?
      My little boy is 1mo old and we use covers + birdseye lampin, I'm thinking what should I buy as I dont have money to waste so Im thinking carefully.

    • @LeahMargaret
      @LeahMargaret  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly only used these as flats in the beginning and she peed so often and I changed her so much. So I’m not sure how much they could actually hold. I sometimes stuff then in her pocket diapers now and they work well. But she is not a heavy wetter at all.
