    Mike Butcher, I am sorry to have to tell you that I emailed Chandos last week (January 2021) and was told that they have no plans at present to produce more recordings of the music of Rufinatscha. A year ago I tried to contact the Tirol museum which is supposed to sell recordings of Rufinatscha's music (according to his Wikipedia entry) to inquire about ordering discs, and I never heard back from them. We should be all the more grateful for the recordings available here on TH-cam!

    The third movement is very enrapturing, it is rich and tasteful, almost like some of Bruckner's slow movements.

    An awesome symphony with beautiful harmonies. I prefer this to some of the so-called greats if the day; i.e.Schumann, Brahms, etc. Chandos will hopefully release a complete set of his symphonies and the concert halls start to take note of yet another unjustly neglected master.

      Schumann and Brahms were in another planet, this symphony, a bit too long in its developments, is only "quite interesting", because of the orchestration that is good. He was a good theorician, but his music says clearly that he is definitely not a master.

    • @Piflaser
      @Piflaser 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leonardomauretti6742 I agree, but a little bit is habit too. Never estimate a unknown piece of music without having heard a few times, is my opinion. I did and it became better, but it didn't change the planet.

    • @leonardomauretti6742
      @leonardomauretti6742 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Piflaser This is right. And at the and I have to say that at second listenig it became better, at the third a little more, but I think that it is not intended to increase more, or change the planet. There are also some moments that are close to the first Bruckner, but at the end the comparison with Rheinberger looks good.

    J'apprécie cette symphonie d'une grande beauté, au ton inhabituel, pleine de trouvailles originales et avant-gardiste si l'on veut bien la replacer parmi la production de son époque... Mérite d'être connue. Riche et puissante orchestration. Merci pour la découverte... Il existe aussi une 6 ème paraît-il, de ce remarquable symphoniste ?

    A thoroughly competent and nicely orchestrated work, well worth hearing, but nothing particularly profound.
