- A really Pointless video. I debated even making one. Things are just getting crazy here. I have lots of Ironman meetings ahead of the races and Lionel is getting into full race mode and not wanting to do a lot of talking. I don't know if we will record Thursday or Friday but I will do my best! -Talbot

I’ve a couple friends racing Kona this year and they met you Lionel today. I could see from the Instagram video that he was mobbed, it was crazy. Yet Lionel literally seemed to take the time to take every photo, video etc. Just incredible. You always hope your role models live up to the expectation you have of them and LS consistently shows he does just that. Wonderful role model. Thanks LS for being the person I knew you were.

Best triathlon team in the sport! Met mikal today, such a great and funny dude. (He has no limits by the way). Lionel also an amazing role model coming from an extreme low and working extremely hard to get to where he is. Talbot makes the videos and content super interesting and it’s awesome to get an insight into the life of a pro triathlete and his team. Good luck to Lionel and the team for Saturday!

Great Vid! Has Lionel ever considered training in a long course pool? I come from a swim background and can remember dreading summer seasons with half the number of walls. Just seems more comparable to open water swimming.

hi im an expert., lionel needs to swim more and carry ice in his hands. the bikes need to be rim brakes, not disc, more aero and less weight. wheels should be deeper, few more mms in the rear at least, latex tubes, not tubeless (duh) oh and he could fix his leg because his running form is bad, terrible even. he should run in the heat more and listen to his coach, unless the coach is wrong then he should just do whats correct

@@yeyeTF2 undoubtedly this is all true but he should also improve his hip extension to improve his run form. His technical biking skills would undoubtedly (hiccup) improve by riding aero on Canadian shared cycle ways. He undoubtedly (hiccup) has a better chance than me to win this race because for some unknown reason I'm undoubtedly (hiccup) drunk.
@@yeyeTF2 he's been riding the Speedmax TT version which is more aero, unlikely to ride rim version. Hed have just brought very deep rear wheel which some will use.

Yeah, it must feel great going through life seeing obvious untapped optimizations to the cutting edge of performance. Anyone who's following the sport knows this has been specifically tested years ago. As Olav said in an interview (paraphrased): "Speed requires power. Power requires energy. Energy comes from calories." After Kristian lost some kilos they learned that the decrease (%) in VO2max was larger than the decrease (%) in mass, which resulted in a lower relative VO2max. In addition to that you get all the added risks of being near calorie deficient. For longevity and continuity in training it's beneficial to have a little extra because that buffer helps you do the sessions as planned.
