Exactly what I wanted (to have the option back to save all new icloud photos to my PC automatically) which was missing from the version of icloud I downloaded today after installing a new hard drive (incl a fresh install of windows). This video solved my problem and the link from the google drive worked well.

Just two tips mate. adjust the camera a bit lower so your eyes level with the 1/3 top section of the screen. also maybe get the camera a bit further away from yourself. you have goo content but camera angle and position is a bit uncomfortable in your videos

Same here, only options here are iCloud Photos and Shared albums in the photo options. When I copy photos from my iCloud folder to another hard drive it tells me I do not have enough space on C: drive even though I'm clearly copying from the cloud to my O: drive with 1TB free space. This is so frustrating, no way I can set a default any longer. What version are you running?

Please don’t get the older Win7 version. The one from the Microsoft Store is designed for Win10 and works better in evry way. You are doing yourself a disservice by getting the Older version. The version from the Microsoft Store gives you more control and functionality that used to be exclusively to mac users!

I just ran through this tutorial and was hoping to see all the images I'd taken on my iPad over past years. However there isn't an iCloud icon in the system tray, nor is there any indication of a query. I checked all the options and clicked on Apply.
My menu doesn’t show download new photos and videos. So I don’t know if what I’m seeing is on my iCloud or PC. I can’t download from iPhone via lightning cable because it says something went wrong. I allow it and when I go to the iCloud it doesn’t show what I mentioned above.

I've downloaded the recommended icloud link that you provided. . When looking over my albums that are listed in the apple music library I can play the album. I can attempt to download an artist's music and at one point in time it will download without issue. When moving on to the next day the server crashes and fails to download. Resulting in iTunes freezing and requiring a log-out log-in process before the program will restart. I'm spending $140. per year for the privilege of downloading 50 + million songs and this is the process Apple has chosen to compliment their customers. Your thoughts?

On my iPad, I’ve created folders to organize my photos. The photos normally transfer ok to iCloud and The folders appear on the web iCloud , but the iCloud Photos app (windows 10 pc) does not have the folders. All photos are dumped in to one folder. Also, similar occurrence in iCloud Drive, but files/folders are not matching up between iPad and app, but are ok using the web iCloud . What am I missing?
There is no need to install the older version: if you are using the version from the app store you can just drag your photo's into the iphoto folder and they will be uploaded to your phone. And when you click on a file in the iphoto folder it's downloaded from the cloud and you can copy it anywhere else. Deleting files from you pc will not delete them in the cloud.
Few problems for people watching this video currently. You absolutely cannot download any older version from apple. It redirects you to the windows. While I kept getting a repeated issue of the book marks asking me to "enable" the extension despite already having done that (I somehow got it to work without checking it, but I uninstalled and reinstalled the iCloud app and it was no longer asking to be enabled) I also cannot get any pictures to show up in downloads after I take any brand new pics. My Problem: I just need to move pictures OFF my PHONE EASILY. I can't use the windows Photo app bc only 2-3K of my most recent pics show up out of my 24-25K. Bc it's all optimized for icloud storage. I need to move large sums of pics off my phone/icloud so I can have space on my phone but I can seemingly only move COPIES using the icloud app, which I then have to go back and delete which is VERY inconvenient.
I notice that it downloads 720p versions of my videos -- EXCEPT if they're more than a few months old in which case it gets original/4k. How weird is that?

I'm thinking of going triple 4K 27" but im not sure if 27" is a bit small for 4K. Also thanks, this video did help me decide if I want to go with iCloud or OneDrive. I choose OneDrive as it has more features, it puts photos in folders by month, and its easy syncing. iCloud works badly with windows, doesn't let you delete stuff like folders, I assume MS put some sort of restriction to get people to use their service.
Everything was going smoothly up until 5:08 when you were taking a picture and have it get sent to the pc file in downloads. Just sharing my issue here: I was blissfully unaware that if you get the **ALMOST Full** notification - then it actually says in a message below that the UPLOAD will not function, so keep that in mind. For me software was not the problem just APPLE's policy.
In fact, when installing this version, there is an option to allow it to automatically update. It would seem this should be unchecked, lest you get updated to the version without the download option.
Older software doesn't always indicate "sketchy". The reason I use the older software, it because the new software at the time of this video, didn't function as intended.

So I guess I still have not asked the right question to get the right answer in a search. So I'll ask the question here in a little more detail. I don't want to pay for icloud storage or otherwise. I originally wanted to purchase an iphone with more storage but the sales person said not need for that you can store tons of things video, photos, songs etc. no problem. And yes this is true if you want to pay a monthly fee to apple for the storage. I'm old and hate the whole idea of monthly fees for something that I feel I owe already. So now my iphone tells me my storage is full on my phone and my icloud storage is full. So I want to take all the photos and videos off my phone and out of the icloud and put it on my pc. It sounds like this is designed to still keep your photos in the icloud and you say a few times in the video that you can delete the phone your pc but it's still there on the icloud. But if you delete it from the icloud it's gone forever. So is the step you need to do (without telling the icloud software to put all photos from your pc to the icloud because first my icloud is already full) is after you move the photo from the icloud to the PC (oh that's it) that is where I'm stuck. I'm on my pc I go to the icloud there are the photos. so in a way the photos are on my pc I need the off the Icloud and only on my pc NEVER to go back on the icloud.
Yes I replied to my own comment the key is I want to get all my photos off the icloud and my phone to only be on my PC. How does one do that. Make sure you back up your photos somewhere safe so you have a copy of them. iCloud doesn't work like a traditional backup service.

Correction,…further tinkering shows iCloud Drive IS keeping the folders, but has created multiple duplicate folders.

Follow the instructions in the description.
There is no need to install the older version: if you are using the version from the app store you can just drag your photo's into the iphoto folder and they will be uploaded to your phone. And when you click on a file in the iphoto folder it's downloaded from the cloud and you can copy it anywhere else. Deleting files from you pc will not delete them in the cloud.

If I remember correctly, they will not upload on a mass scale until you are on a wifi connection, unless you have the use mobile data toggled on.
When you clicked options under photos. I don’t have those options. And clue why ?
Most likely you have the "App Version" as opposed to the "Desktop Version." The link below should provide the Desktop version.

Gotcha, you could try the Windows Store version to see if that will force the sync, all though you won't have the "download to pc" option.

So now my iphone tells me my storage is full on my phone and my icloud storage is full. So I want to take all the photos and videos off my phone and out of the icloud and put it on my pc. It sounds like this is designed to still keep your photos in the icloud and you say a few times in the video that you can delete the phone your pc but it's still there on the icloud. But if you delete it from the icloud it's gone forever. So is the step you need to do (without telling the icloud software to put all photos from your pc to the icloud because first my icloud is already full) is after you move the photo from the icloud to the PC (oh that's it) that is where I'm stuck. I'm on my pc I go to the icloud there are the photos. so in a way the photos are on my pc I need the off the Icloud and only on my pc NEVER to go back on the icloud.
Yes I replied to my own comment the key is I want to get all my photos off the icloud and my phone to only be on my PC. How does one do that. This video you say you can delete from the pc but it's still in the icloud but if you delete from the icloud its gone forever. I want the photos I don't want to use Icloud anymore.
You will need to download them to the PC and move them to a backup folder.
