Thanks for the videos lance . This is my local track ,I’m turning 44 this year I’ve been mountain biking for 7 months, I wished I started 20 years ago ,your videos are awesome.
I thought like you when I was 40 then I met Gordon Stilwell. He took up the sport in his late 50s. He just kept getting faster and races DH now at 67. I thought if he can get better in his 50s I can get better in my 40s. So I did. I have more skills now in my 50s than my 40s. You have lots of time to get better and it can be an exciting journey.
Pukete MTB is a great wee track where I've learnt lots.. The guys do a wonderful job in creating and maintaining the tracks, truly appreciate their efforts
Nice work Lance! Bike lab is a sweet as shop! They sponsored the cambridge pump track open and I get my Leatt stuff there. Good to support independent bike shops 🏬👊🇳🇿🍻
I'm glad you got to check this place out. The people who designed/built this did remarkably well for a relatively small amount of land, in flat terrain. While you're in the Hamilton area, though - be sure to check out Pirongia, and also Te Miro (near Cambridge). In both places, you'll get more traditional cross-country trails, with lots of elevation change.
Keen to ride Pirongia and very familiar with Te Miro. I was surprised at how many Hamilton locals slagged Pukete off. I can see a lot of thought and work has gone into those tracks. Sure there is no gnar but it is in the city and a great place for some afterwork flying laps.
I think I rode every track multiple times. I did come out on the other side of the park. Could have been more but no idea where. You do end up only using a small percentage of the footage.
You survived the mighty Pukete....Mainly xc, but “fun” on e-bike and a place to ride when other places are to wet. Should meet up and take you around Pirongia ~ assuming they have not closed it for logging.
Hi Lance that's 2 videos without your mates, what's going on? Gary (edited)= I honestly thought you would say something like they have 2nd jobs now and saving up for an ebike or some banter like that. Anyway I love your humour and I love how tough you old blokes are!! I'm 55 and wanting to get back into mtb riding, keep up the great work and I know it's not easy filming it's sooooo much more work than many folk know . Best to you Lance.
You say that like it is unusual. I looked back on the last 20 videos and Dad's Army only appear in 5 of them. I make a lot of video's on my own and enjoy doing it. With Dad's Army I only get one attempt to film something, on my own I can take as many attempts to get it right as I want. To be honest we often ride as a group without the cameras as sometimes it is fun just to go riding.
@@bestdayevermtb2 hey Lance maybe I caught you at a wrong time but I love your vids and can't believe more haven't subscribed, as regards your mates not turning up comment I made I was just joking I meant no harm. Gary
@@nqrgaz8986 No offence taken either. To be honest I can't believe 5000 people have subscribed. Glad you like the videos. Videos with other people in are more interesting but more like making a wildlife documentary than directing a movie.🤣
They both felt the same. Yes it sucks. I think the levo SL is easier to pedal with no motor. The speed limit is one of my pet hates as I don't believe their is any law that says it has to be restricted at all in NZ. I rode a derestricted bike on the road and on the flat was no faster than my wife on her road bike. OK rant over.
Ordered a mountain bike from torpedo 7 yesterday and I was so excited. This morning I got an email saying that they don’t have the bike in stock anymore so no bike for me. I am quite sad. So for now I’ll just watch videos of other people going mountain biking. 😕
Bugger. They are hard to come by. Last week Dad's Army got 3 new e bikes. It was great to see the guys loving their new e bikes. They really do transform the whole riding experience. I hope you find something. Let me know what you get when you get it. You just can't beat new bike day.
Must admit I love e bikes but HATE being restricted to 30km/hr. E bikes are great for climbing and steep descents but on flat tracks like these the speed limit is very annoying.
@@bestdayevermtb2 Have you considered hacking it to remove the speed limiter? You seem to be to worlds foremost expert on E-bikes, seems like something you should give a crack.
@@RideyRodney not hard to do at all. Given my history of motor failures I do worry about losing my warranty. I have ridden derestricted e bikes and it is just awesome. Would 100% do it if bike out of warranty.
This was my first time riding there. I actually went on the recommendation of a subscriber. This is obviously a very polarising track as clearly some people love it while others hate it. Yes it lacks elevation but I could imagine screaming around those berms on a light xc bike.
. Agreed. It's really suited for XC riding. I live 3minutes from Pukete and 40 from Pirongia, and have ridden Pirongia far more. Recommend there if you haven't been
Wow that was me I can't believe you're actually doing it I suggested that
What a lovely place.👌 thx for sharing.
Should try the mtb park in pirongia! 👍

I think it is a great asset to the city. I think people under estimate how much work goes into building and maintaining tracks.

Lance you legend. You finally came to Pukete
I said I would.
It’s a great blast for an hour to get some fitness work in
I try avoid getting fit.
I absolutely love my Leatt 2.5 and 4.5 gloves! Best mtb glove I’ve ever used

Should have got some shares.
Cornering for doe.. That Brook can rip corners.. I guess that’s a key reason why he does well in the Enduros.
That’s a nice Mazda 6 at the start
Another great Vid Lance, Trailforks for the win. Or as you said even better the local for the win.
I get lost everywhere I go.
Eek, Ya missed the gully tracks 😀 We come in from the other side of the park, and just follow it through. Worth another look... Take a local lol!,

Awesome glad to have you on the team
Also - looks absolutely as fun as Totara Park in south Auckland. Have you done or thought about doing a vid there ?
I have ridden there and do plan to make a video at some stage. Now Dad's Army has gone electric I think I can convince them to hold there.

That's not shopping Lance, that's stocking up on essential mtb supplies!😆🏴
Absolutely. Also technically not shopping if no money changes hands.

Can you go to Pirongia? The trails there are really cool! Thanks!

Someone at Bike Lab would recommend knee pads are always worn at Pukete……..😂
Hi Lance, does the KTM motor have that stuck in the mud feel when you hit the 32k limit. Did you find the Levo easier to pedal through the limit?
