Both Niko and the player (hopefully) are okay with this situation, and work together throughout the story, becoming good friends along the way. When dialogue options are presented (for Niko, like when Prophetbot says "ask me anything"), Niko does not show any signs of disagreeing with the player's choices. In addition, Niko and the player often get to talk to each other. In Deltarune, both Kris and the player were forced into a situation they did not want: The player was made to believe they would be creating their own vessel but was then tossed into puppeting Kris, and Kris had even less of a say in the matter. Regardless of how the player feels about this, Kris has shown that they are clearly not okay with the situation, ripping the SOUL (which tethers the player's inputs to their outputs) out of their body on multiple occasions in order to do what they want to do, without the player being able to stop them. The player gets to choose what Kris says sometimes, but Kris is ultimately the one who chooses how it is said, once again showing they do not often agree with the player's choices. On a related note, even if the player wants to fix the situation and get Kris their freedom back (like me), the player is unable to communicate this to Kris, as Kris and the player do not get the chance to directly communicate, which undoubtedly worsens the situation. The only similarities between these two scenarios are that the protagonist is not the usual blank-slate self-projectabe character, but instead their own individual person with their own wants, needs, and goals, separate from the player.

I'd like to take a moment to point out that, so far, at least in my opinion, the evidence points to Kris begrudgingly accepting our input for the most part. They seem to be genuinely invested in the dark world adventure, and they don't resist our input that often, though it's clear from certain actions that they can. Specifically, it's established that while we get to force Kris to say certain things, they get to choose *how* they say it. This is most notable in the post-spamton dialog where Kris is asked if they're ok, and responding "No" results in them saying it in a way where nobody believes them, but we actually see this a few more times. When susie asks who you'd bring to the festival, if you say anyone other than susie, Kris says it confused, implying they don't agree with our choice. Additionally, if you make kris say yes to joining berdly, they say it sarcastically. Evidently, we are able to force kris to say things, but we don't have any say in how they go about doing it. It's out of our control. It's worth noting, then, that when Berdly asks where the rest of the "C+ Squad" is, Kris seemingly retorts back by asking where Noelle and Queen are. This is an action Kris does on their own- we have zero input on this. It speaks volumes to me that they'd be willing to make such a remark if they're against the dark world adventures and whatnot. It's also worth noting that Kris themselves choses to DEFEND susie against King in the cutscene- we didn't do that, so it must be Kris willingly doing that. Additionally, the Tea healing for Susie indicates that Kris does, at minimum, consider Susie to be a good friend. Ok… I can explain most of this. Gaster is a secret character hidden within the files of Undertale. You can encounter random NPCs who are his followers in game if you get the right “fun value” a RNG system within the game. These followers tell a story about how Gaster was the royal scientist before Alphys. He created the Core, then fell into it, erasing himself from the Undertale reality. You also have a chance to find a “sound test room” that reveals “Gasters theme” a extremely simple 4 note motif that’s hidden in a bunch of random songs in both games because it’s so simple. If your fun value is 66 you have a 1/10 Chance of finding a Grey door in waterfall, and In the door is a skeleton sprite that the fandom assumes to be Gaster. Also a cutscene hidden in the code called “entry number 17” appears to be Gaster talking in the wingdings font about a new experiment being “very very interesting”. Gaster basically took over the Undertale fandom during the games early years and now he’s deeply involved in Deltarune speculation because the vessel creation sequence at the start of the game has Gasters speech pattern, and it’s implied that both Jevil and spamton went insane because of him. If you want more detail, search the video “Who Dr. Gaster Is and Why That Matters to Deltarune” because that vid is the best modern summary of Gaster and I can’t describe everything here Gerson is the turtle shopkeep in waterfall, you probably talked to him in your playthrough. Old man, talks about the Deltarune symbol. In the game Deltarune he’s dead and his son is father Alvin, the pastor of the church. However because of a TH-camr called JaruJaru in his 3 hour theory video about the Knight. a popular fan theory is he will be revived in a future chapter as the Knight. Floweys backstory from his point of view is explained within Undertales genocide route. I won’t spoil it in case you want to play it (but you can probably find that on TH-cam if you don’t want to play it, It’s the cutscene between [NEO] and the the Big Sans Megalovania fight, just search a let’s play).
