When you said, “Colton if you’re watching,” I spit my water across the room. I am now awake. Glad you’ve got a friend with this name though, great reaction
My favourite part of this song that I feel most people miss is "Like Mikes Evanderin, fuck your ears I'm panderin" which is a reference to the fact that Mike Tyson bit off a piece of Evander Holyfields ear.
I am someone that grew up in the 90s and 2000s listening to country music and still loves it. Bo is on point with this song and what he said at the start. There are some great country artists. There are also some that are clearly just pandering. This song is a great criticism of those that are just pandering.
Old country is the best country. I don't listen to it often anymore. More of a metal fan now but still respect the old writters who sang like they lived their music.
It IS satisfying lol I’m glad somebody who they might actually hear is telling these assholes that more people can see them lol Off topic, this song is a good example of one of my favorite things about Bo, which is that as he’s gotten older and matured, he talks about and to and explicitly names working class people. It’s not the same as the cliche and often condescending “relatable” schtic, it’s juuuuuust almost starting to flirt with political awareness* *Until Socko. Socko more than flirted 😈
I am a huge fan of comedy music as well. It doesn't get enough credit and there isn't enough of it around. Music isn't just about a message or an emotion, it's also about enjoyment and entertainment. Songs can be funny and still be impactful and have meaning. I dislike when ever anyone says it's not real music or that it's dumb just because they can't work up the ability to understand it.
I completely agree... I love this stuff... bands worth checking out if you haven't heard them: goldie lookin chain (rap) Stephen lynch (acoustic guitar) flight of the conchords (mixed) midnight beast (rap) weird Al yankovic
Side note: South American heavy metal music is some of the best in the world at this point. I love how the key change joke damn near made you slide off the back of your treadmill.
Country music is definitely one of the music genres that gets hit hard by complacency. A lot of even the Stadium Country artists, as Bo defined them, are mostly just artists who started out making real country music, got rich with that, and became complacent, thus their music stagnated with them and tends to sound really samey after a bit. There are still lots of good country music artists out there, though. Like Willy Nelson, as Bo said. Definitely recommend his stuff, 10/5. Toby Kieth is my personal favorite though, as I grew up hearing him, and his music videos tend to be pretty entertaining too. I suggest everyone check out his songs American Ride, and Happy Birthday America. And if you're the type to enjoy love songs and the like, maybe check out How Do You Like Me Now, or Wanna Talk About Me.nn
Absolutely love this one dude! Yes there are definitely some country songs I like, especially Willy Nelson and Jonny Cash, but so much of it is just this fill in the blank with a catchy tune underneath, you should totally check out Tim Minchin (another musical comedian) and his pope song
It a lot of music in general, but I had the same feeling about country as you did. You can dig for the gems or the classics, but there’s just not as much quality on the radio these days. Nice reaction dude
3 minutes into this video and I just noticed the t-shirt you chose for this one. Mad respect, man 🤣 you got the joke before the song even started! EDIT: Your laughter is justified, trust me. As a diehard metalhead (with some occasional blues) who has been ranting about mainstream country for years, this was one of the most satisfying comedy songs I have ever heard in my life. Keep walking man!
Your reaction is exactly mine! LOL this is my absolute favorite cuntry, er country, song! The only other country singer I like is Darius Rucker (It Won't Be Like This For Long, For the First Time, Wagon Wheel) and only because I liked him as Hootie & The Blowfish (Let Her Cry, Time, Hold My Hand)
i live in a place where its almost all country music, but i never really understood it, and when first heard this song, bo Burham but my thoughts into lyrics perfectly.
I just watched your reaction video on the Perspective of God Video...and commented on it...I am still confused by the treadmill...but your reactions are really great. I like it when someone knows a good laugh.
This happens with every honest genre of music. Metal sold out in the 80s, country in the 90s, and hip hop in the 00s. There are still great artists in each genre, but 99% of what you hear is fake dogshit.
I used to work late in a gas station. Only two stations came in clear on the radio. One was gospel and i would burn myself alive if i had to hear that. The other was country. I didn't like either. So, i begrudgingly listen to the country and developed an appreciation for it. Most radio music (pop shit) is a phrase repeated with little substance to it. Country is stories that hit your emotions. There won't be any mosh pits at one of their concerts but there won't be a flag burning either.
Grew up in Canada, and I *hate* almost all country too. My abusive dad would always play it on really long car rides, and the two are forever tied in my brain. The only country I accept is stuff like Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash And don't apologize for laughing to much, it shows your enjoyment
What the hell?! How did I miss this and All Eyes On Me?! I’ve even been on your page since after these were posted while looking for the HMack vids!! I’m so confused! Is TH-cam shadowing these?! I was the 69th like though #giggity lol
Just curious, as my POV is a wonder bread middle aged American male, are you at all into Angra? They kept hair metal alive between the millennia, and deserve accolades for that at the very least.
I don’t really care for the newer country but if you listen to Martina McBride’s God’s Will, Jimmy Wayne’s I love you this much, Collin Raye’s what if Jesus comes back like that and many more songs done before 2000s they wasn’t like todays country music
metalhead here too, dislike country and only country of all genres, that said, Colter Wall is insanely good, react to something from him you might be pleasantly surprised.
I *abhor* stadium country music. The sad thing is that classic country music was about storytelling and emotional honesty, basically the exact opposite of stadium country. It took me a long time to realize I didn't hate all country music, I just hated pandering country music that was so popular when I was growing up.
Modern country sucks for the aforementioned reason. 1940s-2004 there are exceptions. But im the same way I hate country, in my opinion the genre classically died years ago unless its Chris Stapleton or Home Free
When you said, “Colton if you’re watching,” I spit my water across the room. I am now awake. Glad you’ve got a friend with this name though, great reaction
Same, I damn near choked.
My favourite part of this song that I feel most people miss is "Like Mikes Evanderin, fuck your ears I'm panderin" which is a reference to the fact that Mike Tyson bit off a piece of Evander Holyfields ear.
that was absolute genius I missed like the first 10x I listened to it! LOL
I never wouldve understood that omg 😂
Ohh my gosh 🤦🏻♀️really
As a metalhead, I agree that this is very satisfying. It's a great representation of what happened to country music.

They probably dislike how you're a pretentious dick who assumes they're too dumb to understand it anytime they don't love all the same stuff as you.
"rural noun, simple adjective" best fucking line haha

Listen to Dolly Parton "coat of many colors" .. it's not like the type of country he is referring to in the song.
He specifically says Dolly is not what he is talking about.
