@@toadmasterfilms7691 if a kid were to choke on a minifig's head, they would have the chance to be able to still breathe since air would pass through the bottom of the head and through the top where there were 3 triangular holes
I personally like the old Yoda the most because it looks most accurate to the Empire Strikes Back version of Yoda and it’s reminiscent of the old classics LEGO Star Wars
I have the original Batman cowl. I personally think it looks a lil’ sleeker, and I like the thinner ears. The one from the Batman Movie sets is good, though. And it reminds me of my favorite Batman Cowl; Christian Bale’s.
@Reagan Reviews 1939 Awesome! Which color do you have? Or do you have both the dark blue and black? I only have the dark blue, but I’d love to get the black one :)
No, LEGO definitely still uses renders. I don't know what decides whether or not they photograph a set or create it in CG, but Ideas sets and CMF images are basically always renders. Brickheadz are renders too!
6:00 I have that set! It’s police units, and I got it 5 years ago at a toy store that was closing down. The store’s owner had some in the attic, and I got it for $6.00
@@ohhellosr9998 i have it closed since i was a kid, never oppened it, it would be my 14 yr old present but my mom passed away before i was 14 so since then i kept it in a closet so i remember my mom
I miss #2.. I always thought that the cowl gave me a nostalgia vibe from the original Batman line (which I was really happy when they re-introduced it in the 2012!).. Still, it bothers me a little bit that they keep swapping the new cowls on different sets, or how they used it in BvS sets... Great video! :D
I’m glad LEGO brought back the old crocodile head for Killer Croc for the LEGO Batman Movie. Addition: I believe the original Gungan head mold used in 1999 is the same mold as the modern redesign, just with added printing.
Another retired Minifigure piece is the LEGO Star Wars Snowtrooper headgear. It used to be a huge chunk of plastic up until 2014 where a newer, detailed piece was released, where the backpack attached from the neck. The old piece came out in 2003 in the AT-AT and the last set it appeared in was in 2013 in The Battle of Hoth. The new piece came out in the AT-AT of 2014.
I have the 2002 Dobby (and also the 2001 Hagrid) and I didn't even realise that his head was different to the 2010 one!! Such a small difference XD Interesting list for sure :D
The pupils were molded on some lego heads because they took inspiration from classic sculpting techniques especially from greek statues where on an unpainted, one color piece, they had to show the detail somehow, and just went with sculpting. It works way better on a larger scale.
Okay so the reason they changed it back was because the three little holes weren’t big enough to breathe trough therefore they changed it back plus the holes would keep them from choking the head up because of the holes in the top, meaning they would end up dead. And if there were no holes in the lego head they could more easily coff the head up and the only reason I a 12 year old kid knows all this is because of wanting to write an essay about Lego
I hope they continue it this new Lego Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them even make new remake sets or sets they haven't done before
dan coster Yea. I was kinda expecting them to continue to do it for a few years. It’s so successful it makes sense to. Plus there is plenty of content that they can produce sets based on. I know there is nothing official on it continuing yet but if sales are anything to go by then I can see us getting more next year. Let’s hope anyway.
I got nostalgia watching this video remembering my grandparents old Lego, they had loads of the old spacemen and all the helmets were cracked and some of the armless police men
The newest minifig head piece doesn't have the 3 holes in the top. Those holes were designed so that if a kid choked on the piece, they would still be able to breathe. Does Lego want kids to choke now? Also, a huge piece replacement is the green brick separator to the new orange one. The green one was super hard to get, only appearing in a rare polybag. The newer one comes in basically any set with over 500 pieces. The older one was designed to be comfortable in the hand, and could only separate bricks from the top and bottom. The newer one can do the same, but can also push out technic pins or axles, and can pry off plates just like the existing crowbar piece.
The green one was also made in gray, which I believe was actually a slightly more common color, at least in Europe. (The green separator appeared in a couple of more sets than the polybag, though, there's also a green version of the modern orange separator which is fairly rare.)
Not too regularly. It occasionally appeared in Basic (comparably to modern Classic) and Dacta (limited distribution educational) sets. www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=6007&in=S
0:59 actually both rockets have the same head it’s just the molded mouth isn’t as noticeable with the printed mouth. Feel around both of the mouth sections to see what I mean
Did you know the reason that the studs on minifig heads used to be open is so that they would act as a straw if somebody choked on one? I have no idea why they stoped. Maybe because it looked really bad for half minifigures? But, a child's life, or whoever got a head stuck in there throat, would be more important, right?
Some strange things: I just went to a LEGO store at Somerset Mall in Michigan and they had all the UCS Star Wars sets except for the Hoth battle thankfully, and then there was Voltron, Hulkbuster Ultron, the Disney Castle, the Tower Bridge, and many other hard to find things
True, but then again lego has shown so many times that it cares way more about star wars sets instead of also caring about the Marvel sets and at least up their game on those awful ant man and wasp helmets.
great nostalgic minifigure guide!, i still have some old wigs and figures as much as the new ones, Hagrid definately moulded better, miss the mickey mouse figures, but the newer ones are the best. :)
It’s going to sound strange but honestly I miss the old Star Wars figures, sure they are far worse but idk, they have a charm to them, although that could be my Lego Star Wars nostalgia speaking
6:00 I have quite a few of them, and don’t know how rare they are. I also have Señor Polomar from the Adventurers Series. As well as green baseplates with white print on studs to outline a building.
A decent amount of these pieces were the ones used in the LEGO games by TT. Specifically the Star Wars pieces though The Force Awakens used the updated parts, namely for Chewbacca.
As a kid, I hated how they replaced heads with a stud on top, with heads with a hole in the stud. Not a problem with hats and hairpieces, but bald characters were now impossible, since it showed the hole. I replaced the hole heads with solid ones as much as possible for years. As a kid, I had a few minifigures with no arms and moveable legs (pre 1978), they were useless except as statues.
I remember I liked those old Legos without any printing or anything, I thought they looked so cool when I was smaller, and I still think they look cool
