@@AmirMalikTravel Albert Einstein, Charlie Chaplin, American presidents Barack Obama joins Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and George Bush have stayed there as guests. I would recommend Xi'an, Chongqing, Chengdu, or Guangzhou. All these are good tourist destinations and are pretty more laid-back than Shanghai. Very much appreciate your genuine opinions of Shanghai! With you safe travels!
I'm Chinese Canadian, whenever I inform other Canadians about what they seen on the news about China, they look at me with doubts...it was only recently I told a guy that muslim communities are spread out across China, some more in particular provinces, but they have communities in the large cities...Why this doubt, because they think they're not allow outside of that western region.
I think you are a good traveller. You're respectful of local culture, observant and you don't lie and exaggerate like other TH-cam vloggers to get views.
Definitely going to China maybe next year or two, it will be on a group tour. I know a little bit of Chinese (beginner level) and I am confident I will enjoy my trip even more. I knew Japanese (beginner level), spoke to locals in Japanese, they were surprised about that and I had a good time in Japan.

I live in Shanghai and I agree with some of your views on China. I think you have to observe this city very carefully to discover these points. If you visit China next time, I suggest you may be visit Qinghai, Xinjiang and Tibet. I believe you will explore more and like it.
The Peace Hotel you mentioned, is a historical place for almost 100 years. More importantly, there was a popular TV play shot there just several months ago.
In public places, the interests of the public (such as safety, anti-theft, etc.) are superior to individual interests. In order to protect the interests of the public, it is necessary to install a sufficient number of cameras.
@@AmirMalikTravel I would recommend: kebabs, mutton offal soup, beef biscuits, beef shortcakes, and old Beijing copper pot hotpot.Don't forget some snowballing and rice cakes for dessert.
There is a popular TV drama series in China called “Fanhua”, which is set against the backdrop of the Peace Hotel and tells the story of how merchants at that time did business here(an expensive hotel)
It is hard to be homeless, most low pay job in Chinese city provide accommodation & even lunch, you can be a cleaner with very low pay but you get place to stay & lunchbox during the work ! drug is not an issue in China! So homeless is hardly to find in China!
Many Western countries complain that low-paying jobs in Chinese factories are stealing their jobs. However, they fail to understand that the advantage of the Chinese economy isn't just low wages. These factories often integrate dormitories, canteens, free gyms, and playgrounds for workers, creating a community-like environment. This setup contributes to the superior quality of "Made in China" products compared to those from other developing countries. While Chinese citizens may receive fewer direct benefits from the government compared to Western countries, essential services such as utilities and transportation are provided at very low costs by state-owned companies. This is where the Chinese government's money goes, rather than giving direct financial aid to citizens as in Europe. This system ensures that Chinese people must work to maintain a decent standard of living, avoiding laziness but still enjoying a good quality of life if they are employed. Of course, China has its own issues, but these systems could offer valuable lessons for the rest of the world.
Sometimes halal restaurants don’t have a “halal” or Arabic word sign, but have a Chinese sign “清真” or straight in their names. Get familiar with this word so you can recognize it. Also a green or blue color shop sign is a hint for Muslim owned. And a lot of vegetarians choices as well!

Another reason why you can find a lot of Muslim restaurants is that they food they serve is widely accepted by people all over China. Not only Muslim go to muslim restaurants. None of my family members and I are Muslim but I don’t mind going to Muslim restaurants because their food is also very good.
Fun fact since u mentioned homelessness. Eradication of the homeless has been passed into their constitution. Every city has half-way-houses which sole purpose is to shelter them, and relocate them. If their family members can be traced, its by law that they are taken care of by them. Old folks cannot be abandoned and the penalty is harsh.
Guess who enjoy the hot and humid environment the most now in China? Answer: all the shop vendors, shopping malls and restaurants & bar, they are getting good traffics as people enter their joint for comfort and are ready to spend. 😅
