We love secret rooms too! On our Alaska cruise on the Grand Princess, we found that there are ocean view rooms on the Lido deck with floor to ceiling windows! Because of the layout of the Grand, these would regularly be balcony but they were oceanview instead so we got the benefit of the balcony space inside the room. Plus we were steps from the outer deck and pizza so if we saw anything through our window, we could go out to the Lido deck and watch it there.
Oooo - nice find! Princess ‘wardrobe’ space one of my favourites as being a taller lady I can still hang full length dresses/jumpsuits without them touching the floor and/or shoes.
Yes, it was a bit of a gamble but we loved this room and like you say the hanging space is wonderful, especially as we had brought quite a lot with us for a 28 night cruise 😁
Thanks! Just booked Alaska for July 2026 in F504 thanks to your video! We love the casino so this might be a bad idea for hubby but we will give it a try. haha. We get free interior rooms with casino rates so for an extra small cost we decided to try these secret rooms. Thanks again for the review!
@@visitwithus It's our pleasure. My only concern with my positive comment, above, is that TH-cam might think we are casino-lovers and we are quite the opposite. I wish there were no casinos onboard at all! But you deserved the accolade, so I took the risk. ;) I do agree with you about that huge window. It's fabulous. Hope you two continue having a wonderful time.
@@youtubewatcher1135 Haha! Thank you. We are like you - we never go into the casino and prefer ships without them, which is why for us booking this cabin was such a gamble. 🙂
Thanks Rich, don't suppose I'll ever be able to get one of these wonderful Oceanview cabins now you have let the secret out. Was looking to do Around Australia on Coral Princess in Feb 2024 before she leaves and got really excited to book. Never mind, who dares wins and you struck the jackpot.😁
Appreciate all of your videos! We love your reviews and commentary! I've noticed recently that the Grand Class ships (Grand, Caribbean, etc.) have similar rooms on Fiesta deck. It looks like these are actually Window Suites. When looking at booking cabins, they were priced between Mini-suite and Reserve Collection Mini-suites, but have all of the benefits of a full suite.
Excellent review as always, great balance of info and humor. And great eye opener for this cabin type. Enjoy every second, we did Perth to Sydney 9yrs ago, a lifetime fantastic experience.
Great video. We're definitely balcony people, but would have no qualms about staying in that room. The size of the window, the room's layout - lots of unexpected, yet pleasant surprises.
That is a great window and I like the layout of the cabin. And the private hallway seems to be an added benefit. I do wonder how much adding only thirteen rooms cost versus what it generates in revenue.
Thanks for watching Bruce. Well, they must've done their sums and figured out that 13 cabins will yield more than the extra casino space. Casinos are a huge income stream for them too!
@@visitwithus We've got our first Oceanview cabin on Regatta for the first 10 days of our 28 night cruise as they didn't have any balcony cabins available when we booked in August 2021 (suites were a crazy price) We move to a balcony cabin for the 18 night section. I'm interested to see how I feel about it.
Enjoyed your video. Do all the rooms in that corridor on deck 6 have the extra large windows? They show different colors on the deck maps. Thanks! Looking at a Panama Canal cruise on the ship.
Pretty sure they all have the large windows. Think the colour coding is just due to location with those nearer the mid ship being a bit pricier than those further down the corridor 🤷♂️
Reminds me of Voyager class Panoramic ocean view cabins. Level 12 . Still the best value and most spacious cabins ( and cheaper) I’ve ever stayed in. Those windows look pretty good too
Thanks Jennifer. The included humour depends on my mood at the time of creating the video. If it makes me chuckle I keep it in (even if Helen thinks I'm a little bit strange...) :D
As we were sailing in Australia smoking wasn’t allowed in the casino so it wasn’t an issue for us. Not sure if it would impact if there was smoking in the Casino but there was a fire door at the end of the corridor which we would hope would keep the smells down 🤞 Thanks for watching 😊
Im going on a cruise on this ship, i already booked my cabin and i just did a search on deck 6 ocean view and the only cabin that came up was F502 now that was spooky! lol
I am happy I found this video as I am considering a cabin on sister ship Island princess - a couple of those 'cabins' on Fiesta deck are available but have been shying away from them due to possibility of noise but mainly SMOKE! On the Island princess deck plan there is a door at the end of the hallway (near F526) which seems to lead into the casino and wondering if that is often used (and if there might be smoke 'travelling' from that area? (the only 2 cabins left are F522 and F526) - can you confirm you had no smoke issues at all? (I know you were in F502 so at the 'top' of the hallway and these 2 cabins are towards the aft)
We were in this cabin sailing around Australia so smoking wasn’t allowed in the casino. So though it wasn’t an issue at all for us, we really couldn’t say if smoking was allowed in the casino that this would still be the case - sorry. They are lovely cabins though and situated really well. There is a door at the end of the corridor which would hopefully keep any smell away from the cabin entrance 🤞 Thanks for watching 👍
No no no to oceanview. The most important reason to cruise is the view. You can go to better places to eat, to go to shows and to wallow in pools. The balcony and the fresh air is everything.
We don’t mind an ocean view as we find we don’t tend to use our balcony very often if we do have one - we would rather be out in the open decks. And you still have a wonderful view, especially in this cabin with its extra large window. But horses for courses as they say 👍
Why have a casino at all on a ship? I like the quote about that from Viking's chairman Torstein that their customers would rather have a free customer use laundry.
We normally have a balcony cabin simply because we hate the idea of the bed being under the window. As you say, how are you supposed to look out of it easily?
I have never done a Princess Cruise because I fear screaming children and over-served passengers in the bars. I did like this cabin. Is it possible to travel Princess all-inclusive? Should we give it a go? I ask because you have both sent us on cruises based on your recommendations. Your videos are the best, and Rich, you should be a voice actor and Helen, you always point out good and things to avoid. Dan and I hope to see you on a cruise somebay.
Ah, thanks Michael and Dan. We really appreciate your kind words. Princess all-inclusive? Absolutely! We've got an all inclusive package which includes drinks, gratuities and wifi. Should you give them a go? It depends what you're used to. If it's Silversea, then you may struggle. If it's Cunard or Celebrity or Holland America etc, then absolutely give them a a try. :D
The smoke from the casino would keep us from booking one of these amazing cabins. I try to avoid going anywhere near the smokey casino. Maybe if we sailed around Australia!

Glad it was helpful! You won't regret the room choice, although you MIGHT regret your casino bill. 😂
Thanks so much! Just changed my Coral Princess cabin from Ocean View on Deck 5 to the Ocean View "Casino Cabin" on Deck 6. You got a new Subscriber.
Thank you. We’re pretty sure you won’t regret that decision. We loved Coral Princess and our room.
Thanks for watching 👍
I really enjoyed this video about your cabin. We are looking forward to watching the rest of the cruise. All around Australia sounds great.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for sticking with us on this mammoth trip! :D

Sorry for letting the secret out. We’ve loved our round Australia cruise so far and hope to do it again one day.
We stayed in one of these on the Island Princess for our Alaskan cruise in 2019 and loved it!
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it 👍

Yes, the hotel manager on the Coral was telling us about these ocean view suites - they sound very nice indeed.
Thanks for watching Brandon 👍
Our favorite cabins. Love the first one in line on the grand princess because it is handicapped which we need!
We think the Ocean Views are one of those little gems that most overlook. Glad they do accessible ones too! :D
Wow! What a lovely cabin.
It really is! Thanks for watching! :D

Glad you enjoyed the review Simon. Thanks for watching! It definitely IS a lifetime experience. We can't get over how special it is. :D
Size of that window! Hopefully we will see more of these type conversions on ships.
Yes, they are a great idea and the giant window is such a luxury! :D
We usually stay in a balcony, but would definitely stay in this cabin. TY for such an interesting review!
Thanks for watching Helen. These rooms really are hidden gems. :D
Thanks for letting me know Martin
You're welcome Martin. Thanks for watching.
Great video. We're definitely balcony people, but would have no qualms about staying in that room. The size of the window, the room's layout - lots of unexpected, yet pleasant surprises.
Totally agree! With the cash we saved, we booked the Sanctuary for the entire cruise. Perfect! :D
thanks for sharing this secret.
Our pleasure 😊

Great tip! It seems the perfect cabin for extra value for money. Whilst I prefer a balcony cabin I'd certainly be willing to try this one.
We agree Angela. And with the cash we saved on not getting a balcony, we booked the Sanctuary for the whole trip. Perfect! :D

Yes, if you look around there are some pretty tasty window cabins on ships but they take a bit of finding... :)
😂 the criticisms were too hilarious 😂

Nice cabin. Curious if you could smell the smoke from the casino in your hallway or cabin??

Smoking was my concern as well. Good to know it's not allowed in Australia, might need to eye that up as an itinerary 😏

Thank you very much for showing us this very nice cabin! Is the price higher than for the "normal" oceanview rooms?
More expensive? Not at all. You just have to get lucky and get one before the secret is out! :D
28 nights! That sounds amazing, but did you ever get tired of being on the ship?
We thought we might but we really didn’t. We just settled into a groove and enjoyed every minute 😍
Difficult to imagine a more heavenly view than that from a cruise ship balcony -- on a sunny day or a stormy night.
Indeed 🌊💙
Thanks for watching Bob 👍
Why have a casino at all on a ship? I like the quote about that from Viking's chairman Torstein that their customers would rather have a free customer use laundry.
We agree because we don't go to the casino at all, but they are very popular. Torstein is a wise man. :)
We normally have a balcony cabin simply because we hate the idea of the bed being under the window. As you say, how are you supposed to look out of it easily?
Exactly Owen. We do love ocean view cabins despite that, but this one is the cherry on the cake! :D

You will be able to see the iceberg up close, as it grinds by. 😊
That's the plan! A few little chunks might break off into my cocktail. 😂
Does Princess still allow smoking in the casino? If they do, did any of that drift into your room? That would be a huge nope for us.
Smoking indoors on Princess cruises in Australian waters is strictly forbidden.
Thanks for the reply Sue. We did wonder why nobody smoked in the casino, because it's generally allowed on Princess ships (not that we agree with it)
The smoke from the casino would keep us from booking one of these amazing cabins. I try to avoid going anywhere near the smokey casino. Maybe if we sailed around Australia!
