Ok so 7 months late BUT if you love sailor moon give the Tokyo mew mew game for the ps1 a try it’s also an RPG and brings me right back to Saturday morning with its retro visuals not sure if there’s an English patch out there for it but it’s mostly voiced so I was able to get a general idea of what was going on
Catrap doesn't get enough recognition. Very chill and satisfying and quick to try-and-try-again-and-rewind-and-such puzzle game. It has 103 levels. (the (Japanese) manual provides 3 more hard levels via level editor codes.)

A cozy game I've been obsessed with is Fantasy Aquarium DS. You manage aquariums, and you feed fish, and you have to make sure everyone is in the correct environment with other critters they get along with. The graphics are so cute, and I love the music. There's another game called Aquarium DS (yes, they're different, I promise), and I plan on getting my hands on!!
I'm too dumb for Picross, but I'll definitely try Animal Crossing for the DS (maybe the DS aesthetic might help me feel more focused). As always, great content Crystal!!

My favorite cozy game is probably better on a phone or tablet than retro handheld, but it is a great indie game called Osmos. I think I got it in the first humble indie bundle, then picked it up on iOS and Android. Really chill soundtrack and gameplay that usually rewards being deliberate.

I'll second GB Tetris, but specifically the Rosy Retrospection romhack is nice for adding modern features like hard drops and hold pieces. I also really like the Panel de Pon games, usually the GBA one, but the DS one is also good, and it's on SNES and other things as well. My brother really likes the Picross games but I haven't given them a try yet. At 07:33 through 07:40 an ant was crawling around your handheld in the upper left.

Sorry, unfortunately I have no idea 😭 I had it saved in a usb drive from when I was a literal teenager lol. It was one of my first retro games that I emulated. Have you tried googling “rom hacks”? Sometimes those websites host hacks that are translations.

@@righttoleftrepeat actually, Animal Crossing is perfect for a single screen device like the Miyoo Mini Plus or Retroid Pocket 2S. You don’t really need to have the bottom screen very often, and mostly it’ll just switch you to the bottom screen stuff automatically for Wild World.
Would it be possible to make a small tutorial video on how to run Princess Maker 2 on RetroArch? I have only had success when running single .exe games, but most download options for PM2 are of the "bunch of folders and files" variety

I've never tried the fishing and golfing ones! Which ones do you recommend in particular? And the transparent gameboy color uses the amoled display mod that you can buy from aliexpress. I think the brand is "hispeedido?" You can search for "gbc amoled" on Aliexpress and it should come up! It's an amoled touch screen that's bigger than the original screen ^^

There are also the Everybody's Golf games on PS1. All of these games are very easy to learn and really enjoyable to play. For fishing games, I really like The Legend of River King 2 on Game Boy Color. There are RPG elements, and you can also capture insects. It's very relaxing. Thank you very much for the screen references. I would love to try this on my Game Boy Color 😍

Hi! I really want to play Princess Maker 2 on my RGB30 (I haven't changed the stock Jelos OS), but I notice there is no DOS folder on the microSD. I couldn't find any information on what format the rom should be or what folder to create. Any advice please? 🥺
At first I have to tease and say Bloody Roar is pretty cozy to me since it’s full of furries! 😸 I was also gunna suggest the Armored Core series, but the PS2 games were a real challenge for me like 22 years ago... 👴 But, more seriously, among the games I look forward to playing when--hopefully--my RP2S arrives on Monday are the Mech third person shooter Slave Zero and the Mech fighting game Tech Romancer, and they both strike a chord of cozy nostalgia for me since my stepfather would rent a Dreamcast and those titles for me to play over a weekend for a good report card in middle school. 🧒 A somewhat more obviously cozy game I’d like to play more on the RG35XXSP, whenever it arrives, is Pokémon Crystal, since I adored Silver most from what I played as a kid from Red to Ruby but never played Crystal. And whenever I hack my N2DSXL, I’ll give Soul Silver a shot, too, but I’m sure Crystal will be a delight, too. Finally, there’s a couple other monster raising adjacent games I look forward to playing, and that’s the Medabots series and Robopon 2. I loved the Medabots show as a kid, but don’t think I ever played the games. And, I’ve heard the first Robopon is kinda eh, but that the second is a wild ride, so I look forward to giving it a try! ☺️
