#TheLegitWeebs
Fight like a tiger
Defence of a fly
Just missed an input
Guess i'll die
I will never not laugh at a Chipp main's fragility of HP coupled with their propensity for spamming clones making them a bigger target
@@chiiiiie5608 I will always cackle at the video of Bed ToD on Chipp. Just one hit, all I need
Fly like an eagle
Launched through the sky
Countered
Till I die
Sol's theme is two things
A song about a reasonable man forced to do unreasonable things
A song that plays when you're in a bar fight and winning
Also Cats.
You’re now seeing what we in the Guilty Gear community mean when we say that Daisuke made GG just so he has an excuse to make sick music
Just like DOOM is an amazing metal album with a pretty sick game attached
@@TheAngryMoth104I feel like the game feels just as brutal as the music, if either werent the way they are the game just wouldnt hit the same
axl was a british gang leader in his og timeline cause that's the type of neighborhood he was in. He was also the nicest one there.
Is that where he picked up the chain sickle from? British gangs are hardcore.
@@TheLegitWeebs gawd damn lol
@@TheLegitWeebs Knives, guns and other 'traditional' weapons are frowned upon in britain, so gang members had to get... creative.
Yes, he needed a weapon that would have reach, and be a knife.
so Chain Sickle.
It's also because in his first appearance he was designed to resemble Billy Cane from Fatal Fury.
On that note, the original Guilty Gear game was filled with references to Fatal Fury
Most obvious of all is Sol himself, whose whole moveset is based off Terry Bogard's
Guilty Gear fans descending on random youtubers after a singular GG video like :
Ky's theme is basically a retelling of his history from his perspective, starting out with darkness everywhere, the gear war, entering endless white where Ky is working for the government in peaceful times, but his superiors make him question his morals, to the deep blue sea where he meets Dizzy and begins to question his path in life and from his fear and stress for her and others he takes the throne and begins to shape the world in his image, or a world we can dye. He fights now to keep the glow alive, or the changes to the world he started. He hopes the new generation will take up the cause and even though his path through life changed so much from where he started, he still believes in it.
Also, the second half of the guitar feature is just his older theme "Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead)" - which also gets quoted in Sin's theme.
It also sounds like the Protagonist Power up theme that kicks off the Round 2 against the Final Boss.
The going meme about Sol's theme is that "It's a bar fight, and you're winning," but I think the actual point of his song is that he's very live-and-let-live.
Of course, Daisuke and his cohort are working in a second language so most of his lyrics are not idiomatically perfect, but I think they're all very understandable given some poetic license and understanding of outdated or loose translations.
If i could remember a swallow is a species of a bird, the one that is mentioned in may's theme song "an off-season swallow".
If i remember right, swallow is a symbol of the start of spring as well?
Swallows are also migratory, and notably return to the Exact same places year after year.
But she's in the wrong season. She's either too early - because she met Johnny as a child and he'll never stop seeing her that way - or she's too late - because they have been friends and teammates now for so long and what they have works and isn't changing. So she's stuck, too early and too late at the same time.
The funkiest thing is that Axl's theme is literally about being happy on the now enjoy what there is. "Cafein makes me hungry (i know all about it)" no deeper meaning then what he just told you. He gets hungry when smelling coffee. "My profile is out of the box". He's from a different time period. He stems from a different "box". He just a little guy trying to enjoy life from what he was given. Also fun fact: Why Axl can fight, was actually because he comes from a pretty bad part of Britain, and Axl saw that, so he used his sicel thing to clean it up, wather that be by changing someone or having to beat someone up and make them leave. And everytime he beat someone up, he would go to his gf and cry in her arms, because he really didnt enjoy it when he had to beat someone up. People ended up liking Axl alot and pretty much everyone knew him and he had successfully cleaned up the streets and was gonna enjoy like with his gf. And then he was sucked up in time.
Axl and Testaments themes are just about enjoying life ❤❤
Whoa,,,
The Sol-Queen thing: Sol's real name is Frederick Bulsara. Freddie Mercury, the lead singer in Queen's real name was Farrokh Bulsara. So just take the first and last name and there you go. Plus Freddie Mercury's nickname was Mr. Badguy and Sol listens to Queen. Think that's everything.
His head band says "rock you"
A password is something you use to get into or out of something - so the way he makes progress or gets through life, I guess, is by being 'out of the box' or using 'out of the box' thinking. That's my best guess.
Another comment to add that you’ll also find that Daisuke is a huge western music fan, to where some character themes in this and past games are super inspired by famous songs, such as the main line in Potemkin’s theme from XX being inspired by Kashmir by Led Zeppelin, or a theme in this game being very much inspired by Beastie Boys (you’ll know it when you hear it)
17:20 "forshadowing is a nartive device."
May's theme sounds cute a innocent, but is also a song about a mid 20's year old woman still pinniing for her 20 year older adoptive father in a not at all innocent way.
Small note when it comes to Clouddrop's lyric videos for DLC characters. They aren't always accurate, as we don't have official lyrics for most songs beyond season 1, and some of the season 1 songs haven't been updated to reflect the official lyrics yet (namely Baiken's and Goldlewis'). If you want, CapnBooker updates his more frequently, but doesn't have gameplay attached.
These tracks are beyond incredible! Super glad you are checking them out!
Since Guilty Gear and BlazBlue have connections through its developers, i'm really excited for when you tackle the 2-part Retrospective by Thorgi's Arcade in the near future. Same goes for his entire library of work, you're gonna love it!
(My personal favorites are his Build the Roster, but the retrospectives are always gettin bigger and better!)
Thorgi KoF retrospectiv is so good.
From what you said of sol being a queen reference ky's theme from most everyone said sounds like living on a prayer by bon jovi.
Though I do believe Ky is a reference to a member from Helloween?
I think these'll def be more interesting to record than you thought, a lot of these songs are really good at giving you their characters story especially if you know the context.
I'm gonna say the line... Sols theme makes you feel like you're in a bar fight and you're winning. The lyrics in this song are definently on the more awkward side on the OST but there's still things to dissect. A lot of the earlier lines showcase his more carefree attitude that gets to shine more in Strive now that he's happier, a lot of it reminds me of the interaction he had during his first scene in the Strive story mode with Malcom Myers, talking about his "softer side". "You are not me, you're not the law. You are not my downfall either. If your voices will fill the sky, I'll take the wasteland, but I won't be alone, never" my interpretation of this line personally is that he's talking to Asuka. I don't think Sol is that interested in what Asuka is doing at this point on the moon, he's just gonna live the way he's known for a long time but he won't be alone anymore, reminds me of that speech he had to Ariels during the finale of Revelator where he talked about the people he's met and how they've effected him. He's truly changed. Also the end of his guitar solo is a reference to one of his old themes "Keep Yourself Alive".
Yeah I-No is based on Sheena Ringo, to a crazy extent lol. Also when you get to Bedman?s theme, his theme is like almost a 1-to-1 reference to a Sheena Ringo song called Funeral.
You're probably thinking of Dragonforce with Ky's theme, he always has power chords in his themes. His theme is definently within my top 5 in the game. My general opinion on the OST is that the base game is rly good but most of the top of my list is the DLC tracks which are just another level, but Roar of the Spark is one of the songs that transcends that. There's a lot of connections between it and Bridget and Dizzy's themes as well. Bridgets last line in her song mirrors Ky's final line, showing that Bridget is inspired by the example Ky sets with his bravery, that's what gave her the confidence to be honest about her identity in the end. For Dizzy, both of their songs reference paths, Dizzy is following Ky's lead in the same way, half her song is just how much she loves her husband lol it's so cute, her theme is also in my top 5 very comfortably. Also again, guitar solo, reference to old theme, "Holy Orders: Be Just Or Be Dead", peak old song btw it's a must hear, probably on your own time. There's a bunch of versions of it so look for the XX/X2 version. Ky always gets the best themes in every game it's actually crazy bro is consistent.
May. Love song. Johnny. That's all there really is to this one I think lol but it is a bop. More importantly AISHA BE SINGIN I LOVE HER! she's been streaming herself playing Strive as her first videogame ever this year it's been fun helping her. She actually plays Bridget who she also sings for, but the last time she streamed it was all about Dizzy since she ALSO sings for her. Basically any of the cutesy girls, that's her territory. Her voice is tremendous, idk how but they really found the two best singers they could for this game her and Naoki are both so versatile.
Your interpretation of that one Axl line is indeed correct... For as much as he wants to see Megumi again he surprisingly doesn't shy away from gawking at other women it's kinda funny. I haven't really listened to this song as much as the others so I don't have much to say other than yeah it sounds really funny to an English speaker. The progression is cool tho and the guitar solo is one of the best imo. Also his chain sickles are likely from his time rooting out violence in his neighborhood back at home.
Chipps theme is the one I think is one of the best to show to people who have never seen Guilty Gear before, it really blows your socks off immediately. THIS is the motivational anthem of Guilty Gear, lol. It's just pure badassery. With a lot of the early base game themes I hear the voices of the singers *as* being the characters voice, like when I think of voices for these characters Naoki and Aisha end up getting included cuz of that, even for Ky who is nothing like Naoki. These are more than singers they really voice act in these songs
Man Bridget and May ARE THICK LOOK AT THEIR THIGHS SMH MY HEAD. Bridget literally has an ass shot in her player 1 intro that gets lingered on for like a shmillion frames she's packin in the back that's where the sweets go.
LMAO I guess I just haven't played Bridget and May enough. Thanks for the breakdown as well!
Maybe its becouse english is not my main lenguage but I didn't find the lyrics as broken as you claim them to be, just figured that most of them are not to be taken literal, for an example "Step it, buddy" I interpreted that as "Step up, buddy", as in if you belive in what you are saying go ahead and fight me (since that is kinda the thing Sol would do), and "The world is not so thight, right?" I just figured by the context that it was another way of saying that there is more than one option in a mocking way, since its said after making the proposal "Give me my place back and I won't take your special place. Deal?". For the record, I know nothing of music, I just have fun trying to figure out character themes.
edit: I belive that within the context of the characters the lyrics of their themes make a lot of sense. If you take every lyric in the literal sense or don't have the character in mind when listening to them, most of the themes are a word salad of nonsense.
The lyrics definitely aren't meant to be taken literally, and while we do understand the intent behind it, it's still pretty funny to take it literally sometimes.
ah yes, sol , the guy who when told to kill himself was like “bet” and is a real lady killer
Faust also gets a "thicc" pass because he is 3 and half meters tall. 😂
Though, if we also take into account Xrd game...
I told you I'd watch this. It's wonderful.
Really looking forward to seeing your reactions to Faust and Potemkin's especially.
Well I certainly wasn't expecting the Phineas and Ferb comparison to May's theme but I think you're right.
I don't think you need to worry about not knowing a ton about music, since you guys know the lore this reaction has been different and interesting in its own ways.
Usually the people reacting to the themes know nothing about the game or lore, so this is a great change of pace.
I appreciate how even with the janky English you can tell what story they're trying to tell with the songs and that they're really trying
There are videos that cover allof the musical references in Guilty Gear that you may enjoy checking out.
Aside from that, great video as always!
It's funny because with Gamma Blade, Chip is one of the few mortal characters who could kill Justice, and Sol Badguy.
The heck. What even is Gamma Blade and why is it so strong?
Hold up,
Alpha blade is a lightspeed slash
Beta blade is a rising strike infused with magic
Gamma blade is a clone... how does his shadow clone allow him to bypass their Immortality?
Oh i am so excited for you two to get to the dlc songs
The best way ive ever heard someone describe sol, is a gorilla with a phd that is very smart but so head strong punching is his first answer
I would definitely recommend checking out leo's song in strive. Really interesting from a lore perspective.
I find funny when on the list of characters who aren't thicc you mention MAY... Remmenber she is on her 20s you are Basically trown her under the bus there for no reason
9:48 sounds almost exactly like “gotta hold on to what you got” from livin on a prayer by bon jovi
hehe Guilty Gear music go Brrrrrrrr
Daisuke has always puzzled me.
That he had to make sick ass fighting game to make sick music is insane.
Freaking-A.
9:02 he's Mr Badguy. Can't you see he's Mr ... Bulsara, but still Frederick
So let me help: Arcadia is a very ancient land in Greece. Its where the God Pan was worshiped. Its a wild, green, mystical land. So Arcadia in literature has become a short hand for a secretive lost paradice. An utopia of song and green.
By the way i fitst though that the "Roar of the Spark" was a weird name, due to being written by a Japanese person. But actually its a call back to his story arc and previous music themes. Those were Holy Orders and Magnolia Eclair (as in the french word for flash of lightning and not the dessert). He was always associated with lightning and (self) righteousness. Now older and wiser his spirit has lessened, just a spark, but his will and beliefs are just as strong. The song is a knights oath. That final spart will go out with a roar, opening the way for those that will come after.
Also the official lyrics in the videos are maybe wrong in some places.
There is a strong theory that "walk in the park" is actually "walk in the pyre". And thats not the only one. Some of the songs are sung by people for which English is a second language, so its possible.....
Small correction, Axl's girlfriend doesn't look like I-No, it IS I-No, just a past version of her
Subhuman self is a banger
You forgot to say that chipp overcame his heroin addiction by practicing Ninjutsu XD
So, about rock/metal references... Ky Kiske is a reference to Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske from Helloween, which is the main reason I picked him as my main in GG AC+R - and he's still my main through Xrd and Strive.
Ky's name is a reference to 2 different Helloween singers.
Being Kai Hansen, and Michael Kiske.
Being a big fan of Helloween, im never too upset of a Ky player beats my ass, bcause i respect it too much lol
may has a crush on johnny but he thinks of her as a daughter so the song is about her trying to deal with these feelings and asking the crew for advice on how to deal with it because well its one sided
I am here for more guilty gear song reactions
CloudDrops lyrics sometimes can be pretty messed, actually.
You need to be as musically inclined as youd need to be listening to a randon Coheed and Cambria single to understand and love the music.
On a side note i wouldnt mind you reacting to every Girls Frontline campaign ending single.
What am I Fighting For

Rainfall
A Moment of my Nightmare
Shicksal
Solar Sea

Ice and Blood
What I Have Known.
I may have missed some songs here or there but those are ones that summarize the story of a game that hasnt even officially finished in english yet but its coming soon. Even knowing nothing of whats to come the final song just makes me cry. Its a swansong on its own but all the songs carry emotion and love.
This franchise also collabed with both Guilty Gear and Blazblue in an event and it was somehow the LEAST wacky shit Girls Frontline did.
I hope you do the Kiss of Death, Happy Chaos’ Theme, I-No’s Theme, Bedman’s Theme and the Intro Theme next.
By the way, do you know of BlazBlue? I have a Playlist for all of it’s Openings, in case you would be interested in Reacting to those, if you haven’t watched already, that is?
We'll be checking out the lore behind Blazblue in the future! Once we do we might delve into more content around the game, but just gotta find the time to record it.
@@TheLegitWeebs fair enough.
Axl's lyrics at the start are so horrendously stupid I can't help but laugh when I listen to it, it's great.
