TrevTube They were talking as though you could choose to have a "Scenic" exploration with the "comfort" system or whatever (I already forgot since posting) or have the ability to move around with a controller... That's highly disappointing if that is not true / I misheard.

that's true, VR supposes to be run, move, jump, etc, not only move your head, something we have close to VR is the kinect or the wii control. Instead of improving the game generation, we are a step but a step back, is my opinion, thanks

Rayza NC Good for you. That's why most VR developers give players the option to move with either teleportation or traditional analog sticks. For most people though, including myself, using analog sticks will make them want to throw up. I've been using VR since the DK2 Rift, and still haven't gotten used to it.

if you use the vr headset for several days you won't get that problem. Motion sick problem is just a temporary. i been using Oculus protype version since 2014 and first 5 days of using it i did encounter motion sick but on 6th day it just never happen after then.
I can't play most games except Eve Valkyrie that games got motion sickness written all over it
VR is OPTIONAL! They are made for early adopters who want to push this technology further. So, stop complaining!
This whole teleporting around thing in most of these VR "games" is really killing it for me. I REALLY want to like this and for it to succeed but that's something that has to go if I'm ever gonna drop $500 on a teleportation simulator.
I'd actually prefer to use a joystick on the regular PS4 controller or the move wand and joystick. Of course the freedom to walk around irl would be awesome but it's obviously not feasible right now for your average consumer. I just think the teleportation will pull most people out of the immersion whereas using a joystick would still allow for a fluid gameplay experience.
+Shane Richardson Most PS VR games will have an option to move using the joystick, including this game. The problem with moving with the joystick in VR is that it can give most people motion sickness and discomfort, hence the introduction of "comfort mode" with the teleportation.
So you can use either the joystick or teleportation mode to move around, but due to motion sickness it's better to use the latter? Makes sense I guess.
I can kinda understand that. Just feels like it really defeats the whole VR immersion aspect that's supposed to be the big thing here. I heard Fallout 4 uses the "blink" to move around the world in VR and nothing about the option to just freely explore using the joystick which kinda makes me less interested :(
If you try VR for the first time motion sick might happen but It does get better slowly over time(within a week) and with more exposure your body will eventually get used to it. Motion sick is just a temporary! Lot of Nintedo 3DS owners had dizziness too but problem went away within several days using it.
So what you're saying is that with people who already lean their head when playing video games to look around corners might actually get some benefit out of it with VR?
There's at least one PSVR game allowing you to choose between teleporting and manual walking. The reason teleporting is a thing is because of motion sickness, those of who have near no sensitivity for motion sickness (like my lucky self) would appreciate free walking. And this is the 960x1080 resolution of one eye stretched, of course it doesn't look too hot.
99% of PSVR games do NOT have teleporting.
and thank hell for that. Too bad something as simple and immersive ("anchored") as Battlezone still gets people sick :(
Mamiya645 Keep in mind that Battlezone was demoed across America and very few people reported sickness. It's a % situation, a few people will get sick, most will not.
Keep in mind, one of my old VR devices runs at 1024x600 at 30fps and I don't get sick. It varies by person.

He just misspoke. It actually IS running at 120fps reprojected. It activates when you move your head. It's a really clever function of PSVR.

ppl are complaining about VR because they didn't get a pre order, just be honest instead of coming here ruining ppls expectations and hype for it. if you dont like it, dont even click on no video about it. PSVR is the best and only thing good this holiday season. I'm skipping out on these normal games this year except FFXV. the rest of these games are the same garbage. call of duty? battlefield 1? same thing. why waste $400 on all those games if i can invest in something that i never experienced and that is like no other? idk about you guys but i sense a little jealousy. don't worry you haters will get yours too😉. btw, PSVR is NOT a gimmick.

I have heard from a retailer they are putting Vr in final fantasy , she said it as tho it was all vr but i doubt that , maybe some extra like tomb raider. I expect to see many game with this sort of extra , especially most sony entertainment games. why are people barely now noticing teleportation in VR, it's been a thing in HTC Vive games and some Oculus games since they launch 7 mouths ago.

Traditional movement in VR cause a very intense motion sickness. I tried "the assembly" and I couldn't play with traditional moment at all, I HAD to play the game with teleporting. But maybe it depends on the game. VR it's a new technology,so we need to be patient.

So it's not true 120fps, but 6fps with "tricks" to reach 120fps during movement. Means lowered graphics during movement
It's important that you have a fast, consistent framerate. We run in a full 60 FPS....

I want to see how the interpolated 90-120Hz look inside the headset before I complain about that.
Like every interpolated picture outside of a headset. You loose picture information on the already lower resolution screen and get a smeared/blurry image. Thats why people say they dont see a difference in resolution. They don't see any, because the Headset isn't even able to render single pixels.
Just think for a second. How could the PS4 render VR at 120frames if a 300dollar graphics card struggels to get solid 90...

Don't get me wrong. I love VR...but this is a small experience compared to what I would have in mind for a Tomb Raider game in VR...

In addition to being free, it is the same gameplay as previous Croft Manor levels in Tomb Raider, minus the platforming. (Pure puzzles and exploration.)

"teleport" why not use a combination of controller and VR headset. the controller moves the character for the most part but the head movement is mostly controlled by the remote ? I'm sure it's a lot of coding but for console it just makes sense

This is gonna be another VR walking simulator. They use big production names like Tomb Rider and Batman and they turn out to be 30min games with no story and nothing apart from walking and interaction with objects. What about climbing, jumping, fighting that we see in original games? Never gonna happen. Only racing games will be worth looking into.

How is this a Thomb Raider experience? This is exactly how vr games should not be developed. These games try to cater to people who get sick and nauseous easily, thus dumbing and watering down gameplay to the point where it barely resembles a game. I find that the best vr games are the ones that these people say make them sick. i personally don't get nauseous easily from any game, so I don't need to have my hand held. I don't understand why in all these vr games, they don't just put an option in the control settings to just play the game like a traditional 2d game. I just want basic FPS gameplay, running, jumping, climbing, falling and so on. Options damn it! Option!

I understand moving technology forward but these gimmicks are annoying. Last gen we had to deal with Kinect and PS move...which the main audience barely used but they advertised the hell out of it. Then we had that whole 3D gaming, 3D TV gimmick that blew over. Then we started this gen with things like playroom that have been useless for most games. Now we got VR which will blow over too. How bout just focus on the consoles system features and games.
So yet another demo as such, not a VR from the ground up AAA title, this will get old within a few hours like everything else in VR.

Funky AtomicHaze Note: It is very important to know that the resolution of what the PS VR renders on the TV (so basically what we can capture) is lower than what the person using the headset can see. Don't believe that it looks as poor as that when you experience the whole thing.
