    @Mammotion, now THIS is the video that convinced me that omni wheels are OK. Crazy did an excellent job of demonstrating this! Thank you very much Crazy for all your hard work on a hot/humid day! Well done Sir! And thanks Mammotion for sending a 3000 to crazy!

      Unfortunately for me, I specifically ordered the OG version on Amazon. I waited for Prime Day and got a $200 discount. Mine still hasn't shipped though, so I wonder if they could switch my order to Omni. My yard has 50% of it as steep hills like shown in this video.

    I have a hill on my property. It slips a bit if it needs to turn on the hill, but it has been doing great going in straight lines on the hill. Up, sideways, and diagonal.

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah turning at an angle seems to be the only time it has trouble It seems to be able to maintain a straight line even on a hill. This could be fixed in software, when turning on a hill it just needs to reverse further up the hill before it finishes the turn

  • @ClaytonMacleod
    @ClaytonMacleod ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’d say it should keep track of its tilt angle and adjust the mowing plan with regard to that. Lots of steep incline, mow it up and down the hill rather than across it.

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All this could be fixed in software It's just going to require some finessing. Even if it just reversed up the hill A little higher before trying to make the turn so it's turning while it's going down instead of trying to turn uphill. Because it was the turning that was the problem It was able to go straight even on the extreme angle.

    I just learned something I did not know about the luba's. You mention around 21:20 that you can have multiple Luba's on a single RTK unit but you cannot have multiple RTK units on a single luba which is really to bad as having more than one RTK might allow you to cover a dead spot or heavy tree cover area that you otherwise might need to create and "do not go" area.

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you have one RTK with a completely clear view of the sky there's no need for two. The second RTK unit wouldn't receive any additional satellites that the first one is not receiving. So it wouldn't contribute any better. The only way more than one would help would be if your property was so large that Luba goes out of radio range of the RTK but this would be hard to accomplish I personally tested the RTK's radio range to 700 m and I've had comments that said they've tested it out to 1 km. But Luba is not programmed to receive two reference stations at once.

    What might be cool for you to film is to take both the original and the omni Lubas, and have them each turn on the spot. Then compare the wear on the grass after 5, 10, 20, 30... donut turns. We know the original wheels wear the grass on turns, but a side-by-side would show how much better the omni-wheels are, and whether they still tear up the grass a bit.

I've decided to return my EcoFlow Blade for a refund and I'm considering the Luba 5000 with omni wheels but I need to know how it does turning during it's docking process if I decided to house it on gravel near my driveway. Can you also comment on their return policy? If I use it for a week and then decide to return it, is it possible and do they charge a return shipping fee or restock fee?

      @@Crazypostman no worries, I already messaged their Amazon storefront but haven't heard back yet. I know their website states 30 day return policy for unopened boxes (unused Luba) but I imagine they don't accept returns on units that have been used or maybe it's a case-by-case basis. The issue is their lack of support and whether they stand behind their product enough to offer a 30-day return window for used units. I live in a valley surrounded by tall trees so it has me worried that they won't allow me to return it for a refund if it isn't able to hold a steady signal. I would consider putting it on an antenna tower if I knew it would perform with the centimeter accuracy but that's a pretty hefty investment for no guarantee performance increase. I gotta laugh, every time you say "hill" in the video it's how I say "heel" must be the differences in accents. 😃

      @inc0de ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Crazypostman If you haven't already shot the video showing the omni wheels on gravel -- you don't have to. I've decided to wait out on buying a Luba due to the return policy. They have a 30-day return window but it has to be unopened. It signals to me that they don't stand behind their product all that much if they aren't willing to let owners try it for any amount of time. I can test drive a vehicle before buying it, I can tour a house and have an inspection done, but I can't open the box to their lawnmower and expect to get a refund of any kind. No partial refund or anything. That's bizarre to me. Until they change their return policy I'm considering other options.

    Ok you convinced me that the omni wheels are not a detriment compared to the regular wheels. I think the redesign of the real wheel material and tread also has something to do with the traction on a hill. One way to test this is to put omni wheels on the front of the old luba and see how it performs on the same patch of hill once the grass has grown back. Love the video's they are convincing me that the Luba will be the correct choice in robot mower for me once I settle on a date to purchase. Still kind of waiting for Mamotion customer service to get up to speed with where it should be for this type of unit cost.

      Omni Wheels on the front of the old luba would perform horribly You're correct 😂 those old wheels were purposely made to slide a little easier, The new rear wheel is purposely made to be very sticky

  • @lukeswierczynski4773

    With a hilly property this would definitely be a downgrade from what I saw in this video. Luba 5000 rated for for 75% Slope(37), in the video that slope appeared to be about that, if not a little more. the slope at my home is greater and I have no slippage with the old wheels. If you're concerned about a donut make a little patio or something so it doesn't have to turn on grass. I also have my charging station on a slight hill and the additional traction probably keeps it from sliding away.
    Love the unit so far, have had heavy rain and no issues after 4 months.

    Great comparison! But if you had also run the original Luba on the steep slope then you would have also seen it overshoot and slide on the turns. It would be good if you tried your old Luba on that hill too, as people watching this might think the original would do that hill perfectly when it too will slip a little.
    I have both an original and an omni-wheel Luba and they both slip a bit on turns across a steep hill. However, as your videos show, turning the original involves sliding the solid wheels over the grass and more wheel spinning. The result is that the edges of the lawn get more torn up with the original, especially on slopes.

      With luba you mow often enough so it just cuts a tiny amount per time so the clippings aren't noticeable and it always looks fresh. Maybe 2 or 3 or more if you want times per week. Whereas a regular mower you may let it get longer and only mow once a week

      I don't own a blade but I have experienced it. I would not consider it over a luba. It has a hard time turning on thick grass, I don't like It's mapping programming, It has a charger design defect. It's GPS seems even more fragile to losing signal than lubas. I don't like the way you control it with one input on the phone I'm much like Luba's two inputted manual/mapping controls better

    I was worried they were only going to release the omni wheels for the smaller sizes. This is VERY tempting now. I have a drainage ditch, and it looks like Luba would handle it. But I need to hold out until the wire-free Husqvarna is in the hands of customers.

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm sure the Husqvarna will be a quality product, I've used them for years. But it's literally slightly more than double the price of the luba 😲

      @@Crazypostman the acreage is sightly less than double, but longevity and software matters the most to me. Mammotion seems like they will be a major player in this space, but you never know. The lack of videos is what scares me. It's like they don't want reviews. Very little info even from those who have it. I suspect embargoes or back room deals

    AWD1000/3000/5000: Questions about Model Choice
    * It is easy to find by browser searching the Capacities of the 3 Mammotion Mower Models - the differences between battery size, acreage, slope, mowing time, charging time, and number of zones;
    * what I am not seeing in Reviews are the REASONS why people are choosing one model over another;
    * I am still waiting for
    - the Version with the HIGHER CUT given that I have Zones of Fesue (4”) and Bermuda (3”)
    - the Bugs to be Worked-Out on these Beta Versions

      Getting the bigger model really does not benefit you much at all if you don't need it for your yard size. I don't know of any robotic mowers that go up to 4 inches they're just not made to cut that high. The highest I know about is 3.6 Mammotion currently has a high-cut model in beta testing but not sure on its max height I doubt it's 4 in

      @@Crazypostman Fellow OKie: Thank you for the Quick Answer.
      * 3.6” (like the Husqvarna High Cut Models) would work for me; again, I would want to get proven models (not beta)
      * I would also lean toward models that
      - mow longer/faster (more area per charge,
      - re-charge faster
      * so that the mower (which is going to have to cut 10k of yard - 2x per week - is not mowing all of the time.

      What's your asking for doesn't really exist yet lol Maybe in the next year or two currently luba is as good as you're going to get, for the dollar anyway. Husqvarna's comparable model is More than twice as much and it's not even four-wheel drive.

    True omni wheels can be driven left/right, whereas these just slip.
