Even though Leon outclassed everyone on the ice tonight... I'm thinking most the talk on the plane ride will be about Podkolzin's insane POWER Punch. Wow! Gave Louzon a 2 piece no soda.
...this OIL team got me off of the ledge that last game's team had forced me onto. Pickard, to me, was the unsung hero of this one. How many times have the OIL gotten an early lead only to give up 1 or more 'softies'? I'll answer that one: "Too many times." Ha Pickard stood up and said: "Not on my watch."
I'm glad to see The Coach start Pickard. I hope he is now used based on his play, and not on who thinks Skinner is the starter. Pickard has now played 3 very solid games. Games as good as Skinner at his best A game, which isn't often enough for a starter. Let Skinner and Pickard battle it out for who is the real starter, and not just gift it to Skinner like last year. Pickard was excellent, and for the most part so were the Oilers. Solid win!
Noah Philp is a different cat isn't he? I'd say 99 percent of the time if you take any significant time off (let alone a friggin year! 😮) that usually spells death for someone's career His demeanor is impressive to me considering all that. Obviously works his butt off but he seems to dictate his life on his own terms which translates into his play in the way that he doesn't seem to be bothered by being "in the show" per say. Just seems to go about his business Damn happy for him for sure regardless of how his career does indeed turn out. Good for him 👍
Great game, Podkolzin fills an important position on the Oilers. Now they need to go bring Klim Kostin back into the fold. Philp looked good, probably will be ups and downs but the oilers need to be younger and Caggiula played well. The rest is obvious. Bravo Oilers, keep working hard like that. This is what happens when you play hard and have some edge which is why they need Kane back in the line up and should acquire another forward with physical ability.
Would be great to see Kostin back. And with Evander back. And now knowing what Podkolzin can do lol team toughness could actually turn into a bright spot for this team
this is fantastik !! we are back to .500 - so that helps a lot. Our mgt has learned that speed is important in hockey and in time will likely also learn that youth and hussle/physicality and player development is important as well -but may be learning. Pickard has been helping for sure.
The bako players brought the energy back to the oilers…I love when the rookies show up and I wish the condors played here in Edmonton so we could see their games!

Disclaimer: Expressive Language follows. It's muted but it's there. Okay from what I heard (yes, I listen to the games and calls) this was an old fashioned ASS WHOOPIN' by the Oilers on their favorite team to beat up on the Nashville Predators. Tonight Corey Perry seemed fast somehow. Lines were rotating. Leon OWNED them. I mean they must still owe him money and the interest was just collected but there is a balance due because he OWNED them. Obligatory the next contract with Leon is still a VALUE contract stat: Leon has 27 goals and 19 assists in the last 28 games against Nashville including Six games with 3 points or more in a game in his last 9 games played. O W N E D, say it with me now. Right off the first drop the Oilers were flying. Arvidsson stayed with it until he scored just 37 seconds in on the first shift (assists from Leon who probably could have scored and Podkolzin). Humn, 37 seconds, the exact amount of time Connor McDavid played in the game he was injured in. Coincidence can be a marvelous thing. Our PK Gave up 1 on 3 so not perfect and our PP only had one chance and didn't bury it. Speaking of Bury Podkolzin fought Lauzon (if you can call it a fight, three punches by Podkolzin and Lauzon was horizontal looking up though he got a few shots in first). The other fight was Emberson and Cole Smith late in the first period. Smith looked like Goliath next to Emberson's David but we all know who won that fight and in the end Emberson took Smith down. Look folks, MEAN can come in different sizes but it certainly comes in small packages (and Emberson isn't exactly SMALL he's just not a mature Redwood). Other than letting in a pretty much zero chance shot by Forsberg on the PP (that bounced off of Connor Brown right to Forsberg) Pickard kept everything else that went his way out of the twine for a .963 Save %age (which got him the 3rd star). Ekholm another game, another point. Bouch got an assist too. Noah Philp, first NHL point of his hopefully long career and he OWNED the Faceoff Circle winning 71.4% of his starts (on 14 tries so it's not a small potatoes sample size). This kids a keeper in my opinion BUT he's also easy to send back as he's waivers exempt. His first point and having his family in the crowd, hearing a description of their joy, I was thrilled for him (though I wish it was a goal he did a great job getting the puck out behind the net first for Caggiula to ring one off the bar then Perry to clean up the rebound and get it in). Hyman got a breakaway from a Nurse feed (who got it from Jeff Skinner) and finally scored one (11 games into the season). At this pace he'll have 7 goals this season (well 7 and 1/2 but no halfsies). It will get better and it was a nice goal top shelf gloveside on Saros. The Oilers, GASP, Blocked more shots than Nashville (19 to 11) and Kulak had SIX of those though they had 2/3rds of the hits (20 to 30 for Nashville). Some folks were throwing them though (hits) most notably Ekholm (3), Nurse (4), and Podkolzin (4). Now for the forward group to understand they aren't frail and can bump a guy (yeah, not a love tap, but a real bump, nothing that leaves a bruise just enough to disrupt a play) and it counts as a hit. Now all they have to do is play against other teams than Nashville the way they played this game and we're good. Take care all.

Nurse really stepped up with a solid performance

A truly terrifying attack by the Oilers on the Preds, they will have nightmares about this in Nashville.
Nurse doesn’t need to score point. Just be a dominant defensive player.
The bako players brought the energy back to the oilers…I love when the rookies show up and I wish the condors played here in Edmonton so we could see their games!
nurse had his best game of the year
Leon will win the rocket Richard trophy this year!…he’s got 8…thee are a few ahead of him but we all know once drai gets going he will keep scoring!
Maggews will win he has 5 already and scored 69 last year
@@Hjkkgg6788Mathews looks sluggish this year tho…
scored 69😂
Did anyone else see the ref punch Ekholm right in the face?
Did he get a roughing penalty?
Not even the most outrageous thing the refs have done to the Oilers this season.
I'll be at Tamarack McDs at 5:15 am ....hurry up now🫰💪

The Smashville Mayor #29
They must hate him there! lol
It seems to me that caguilla used to plays on the pk…I hope he can do that again!
The National Predators - always a threat.
And Emberson gives the Oil some toughness that Broberg, I would think, has less of.
Vasily Podkolzin guy I like
Draisaitl's 2nd goal was SICK! He's pulling his weight without McDavid. 2g 1a 3pts. Oh but he NEEDS McDavid. GTFO
Noah needs to stay in the line up
Stu is stuck in between being a backup and starter. Hence, he’s a really good backup; not a starter. Unfortunately.
get the puck to draisaitl and then get the fff open for a return pass
Gleason should of been here from the start
Even the way David and Bruce snidely laughed at 3:00 is weird...wtf is going on 🤔🤔
