"Got Goalied" implies that the team played well and the other team won because their goalie stole a game. I agree that Pichard was not the better goalie on this night, but I don't think the Oilers would or will win many games playing with that level of defensive blunderings.

Last thing anyone should complain about is Jeff Skinner on a goal against. Have you watched the 9.25M D man? How about Bouchard’s soft physical play, or lazy puck handling the way he tosses it over to the opponent. Nurse is mind boggling, he’s an NHL player and I do think he’d be ok as an Oiler if he was making half what he makes. They are handicapped with the salary cap. Huge waste, and when your older, slower and softer well you won’t see the Oilers play as well game to game. That isn’t to say they haven’t done well in some games. Ryan shouldn’t be playing over Caggiula. The coach wanted to give him a game after being out for a couple. That shouldn’t happen unless Caggiula played poorly and I don’t believe he has. It’s bad enough they got Perry in, and he’s only in due to his toughness, leadership and smart hockey IQ. I don’t think they also need Ryan in. Tbh that contract was 1 year too many. They haven’t recovered from losing Broberg and Holloway either as well as the others they lost with more youth and speed. The PK and PP are the worse. They went from the top to the bottom. The goaltending is inconsistent and below 900 save pct. There has been very poor decisions with asset management no matter who’s been making them. It’s the typical Oilers organization way of things for some reason. Without addressing the teams weaknesses there is no way this team can make it to the final again, much less any playoff success. Will they even make the playoffs? The holes on this team are obvious. Can this Attard player come in play well defensively? I’m assuming they are bargain bin shopping hoping to find something.
It's sad that our notion of goaltending has been so skewed to mediocracy that every time we lose to a goalie who makes the saves an NHL goalie should make we say we were goalied.
This is why we gave up our season tickets with the Oilers after 20 years and the Eskimos after 40 years. We really don't follow the Oilers and Old Eskimos on a regular basis anymore.. It's not worth it anymore to watch our old Pro sports teams. It's not the same for us as lifelong fans and Athletes....it's different now... unfortunately. We Have a Big family that's put off by the Elitist attitudes in sports and have a busy business and have higher priorities now.
I didn’t mind the game on prime it was missing Jack and Loui big time. And my god I think the broadcast was presented in HDR but man the ice was way to bright hurt my dam eyes. They need to dial back the HDR like dam
Fatigue was definitely a factor. However, that was a masterclass of a perfect rd game against a tired opponent. Bruce, the reason why there wasn't more then 5 hits is because the devil's made quick and accurate passes all night long.
it is humbling how little we (& all the EDM media & mgt) understand the game. We constantly think we are an offensive power house - but reality is we are bottom 3 at 2.38 G/ game... so among the worst in ability to score goals. We thought bringing in; Arvid 4m, Skinner 3m, Henrique 3m, Kane 5m, Hyman, Perry and paying Nurse >9m, plus paying Bouch Drais McD... would make us potent. Apparently we are not looking at the right characteristics?? still paying Campbell & Neal.
In regards to the Oilers offensive output, Bruce and David were spot on in critising their lack of execution. After all, close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades.
I thought the officiating was atrocious. Not just penalties, but linesmen as well, that one play where NJ flipped in before the red line and Emerson got pasted... just a brutal night. That said the PP & PK was even worse than the officiating, so thankfully little PK and PP opportunity. Looks like the league has figured out what works against the oilers after that long playoff run Allen did steal the game, and no "puck luck", plus defensive breakdowns always equal a loss.
Just the beginning of 4 or 5 various streaming services and/or addons that will be required to watch all 82 games. The result! care about it as much as they did. Not at all. Special teams abysmal! Has nuge fallen off a cliff? When will he be held accountable?
Sadly none of this is surprising, look up and down the roster, it's laughable for a playoff team to be this small and soft, Perry is in the lineup because they can't dress 2 small forwards on the 4th line with Philp , that's what's called a Bbq shrimp dinner for Kurtis Mcdermid But hey everyone's excited by all the soft skill they got in the off-season
