- Seymour Josephson, the father of Samantha Josephson, spoke after a guilty verdict was reached in her killing. Nathaniel Rowland was convicted of kidnapping and killing Samantha in March of 2019 from Columbia's Five Points.
Stay strong dad. Keep going for your daughter, carry her name so that she lives forever and helps people.

Sadly, we can never bring her back, but at least they got him so that he cannot take another daughter away. And her story has been a wake up call to all riders. I check the vehicle description as well as the license plate. Prior to this incident, I just assumed the vehicle pulling up to me was correct. Not anymore. I make sure it is right because we do not want a repeat of such a horrible crime.

This is sad. This monster was looking for his victim the whole time he drove around. If he didn't pick her up it would've been another person too. All this bc he was broke. She fought for her life, and just to know she tried kicking the window out while being stabbed breaks my heart. I wish people that hurt people could be punished the same way they killed or hurt their victims. Praying for her family, for peace and clarity.

Omg, when the dad said he’s contemplated suicide, I freaking lost it. I can’t begin to imagine what it’s like to lose a child. I cringe at the thought of losing my nieces or nephew. Killers shouldn’t be allowed to rest. It’s so unfair what the victim and their family have to endure.

She died a hero. She had have gotten her fight and Zest for life from Mom and Dad. She saved others lives because she chose to fight and her DNA was found. Thanks for saving me and any other female that quite possibly stumbled upon him. Her death is not in vain. God Bless Samantha for all her bravery and may she forever Rest In Peace.

Sadly but even the people who do have loveable supportive dads don't honestly value the gift of a supportive dad. Usually they are the less appreciated.
This case is horrible. I would never sleep again if that was my child. Rip and I hope one day the parents. An look at Samantha's pictures and remember how wonderful she was.

We do not really know if he will be locked away forever. He might escape. Biden might do a mass pardon so that the felons can vote for him. The Innocence Project might find some loophole and get him out. Unless he is executed, he will always be a threat to us.

I feel so terrible for this man. I only wish I were there to offer him a hug. What really hit me is when he said Samantha had him wrapped around her finger, knew how to sucker him in, but he wishes he could have that back. He misses being able to spoil her as her father. An idea for ride share safety: make Uber, Lyft, whatever company have on there app a panic button. That if the customer feels in danger at any moment at the press of the screen the police will be called. Make having your location MANDATORY AT ALL TIMES in the app or it doesn't work and you can't make a order for service, or if location is shut off during it triggers the panic. If the panic is triggered the location is instantly viewable and live so location can be seen moving. I would argue that the panic screen has to be open and available at all times during the ride or else it's triggered as well. Maybe it being open at all times is too much but again I'd argue for it

Companies such as Uber do not carry any liability whatsoever leaving not only the customers but also honest good ppl who work for Uber and so on vulnerable. Attacks and incidents of violent nature is being reported both ways and these companies are not being held accountable whatsoever. I love the idea…perhaps just make an app to add on to the app that is being used. Panic button sends signal directly to local law enforcement. I would def pay a fee for such an app feature. One may say well then you can just call 911…but the point is that it would be used rather as a measure of surveillance other than a direct call to 911. There also might be circumstances where calling would be impossible due to the nature of moment, so having this feature would be great.

I'm a father and I swear I would burn the ground under whoever hurts my daughter like that. I totally get you and I feel a lot of sorrow for what has happened to your beautiful and one of a kind daughter. I really hope you stay strong, if not for yourself then for those loved ones of yours. There's still much love around you and people who love and need you. Samantha would've wanted you to stay alive and to be strong. If this had happened to another family member of yours, and Samantha was still alive, she would've counted on your strength and resilience to go on. Please stay strong and don't let that animal take away the things Samantha adored about you. Maybe that coward won the physical battle against her, but he never broke her soul. You too, win that internal battle, I know you can. Honestly, hearing him speak in court like that sent feelings of disgust down my spine. But it was also obvious that he has the mental capacity of a cockroach, yet a self-centered, evil, and manipulative coward. It is a very satisfying thought that he'll spend the rest of his miserable life in a soulless, dead place. Day after day, aging slowly and miserably, without love, human contact, friends, family, or even the freedom to sip a cup of coffee and hear birds sing. He'll be told where to go, when to shower, how much time to shower, when to sleep, wake up, heck he can't even decide when to switch on or off the light in his boring and lifeless cell. I know this won't bring your Samantha back but knowing that his suffering will extend for years while Samantha feels no pain now is somewhat a satisfying thought to me. On a scale of wins and losses, she clearly is the winner. Please stay you, please stay the person Samantha adored and loved.

That judge is such an amazing man. I have 2 kids and 3 foster kids and I can’t imagine what this dad is going through 😖 and the saddest part is the dad can’t look at pics of his baby 😢

Jesus Christ this is so powerful, as he hits his hand on the table trying to fight back his anger and pain, I wish so badly i could take away his pain away, along with the pain of her family and friends. Him talking about his wife(samanthas mother) an her sisters, is so heartbreaking. I can feel his hurt , his agony and anger. This is everyone’s worst nightmare , to have a child taken from them in such a horrendous way. I’m so so sorry to them for their loss.

No one who hasn’t experienced the brutal murder of a loved one can understand the feelings of grief, guilt, anger, loss and helplessness. I can because my 90 year old grandmother was beaten, sodomized and ultimately had her throat cut by a maggot such as this one. I too can’t say it’s name, and it has been 19 years! I am so over whelmed hearing this father because I understand that time doesn’t heal this grief. If you are lucky, time does allow you brief moments of happy memories with the one you lost.
Our friend’s daughter was brutally murdered a decade ago in our neighborhood. It was a brutal stalking murder of a 17 year old girl who was training for cross country on a trail, was abducted, raped, murdered and left for the coyotes to eat. Our community was devastated. The family was crushed. I can tell you that the impact is still felt in our community like a dark cloud. These animals need to be dealt with swiftly.
The sudden death of a loved one is devastating in all circumstances to lose a loved one to a monstrous act such as this is truly unbearable I hope Samantha’s loving family can find peace try to recall the good times rather than the horror of her last day on earth. ❤️
90 impact statements! That is so heartbreaking. She touched that many lives in the short time she was here. I have a daughter her age and a son a year younger and I cannot imagine what her parents are going through. That monster sits with no emotion as her dad speaks about how he's thought about to take his own life. Wow!
I feel exactly like he does every day.... Drinking alcohol, going to bars, smoking cigarettes and/or marijuana, and doing drugs only lead to unhealthy and dangerous outcomes.

I pray I never have to bury my kids. My mom passed away a few months ago of natural causes and I still have visions of my mom's last breath, contemplated suicide so many times, and still wake up thinking she's still a phone call away. I couldn't imagine the devastation of losing a loved one in the matter in which this man lost his little girl. My prayers go out for him and his family
My mum passed away in my arms in 2004, the pain goes away but I remember her daily or every few days and feel like crying, and also feel happy that she was my mum and thank \God for this as I was adopted by my Italian parents, it reminds me of how I should forgive my kids and wife when they arent so perfect and myself too, you can love people when you realise that someday theyll be gone, as soon as this thought comes I hug my son more and make allowances for my dad, wife etc and remember to love them, myself.
Can't imagine how they survived her death. I have a lost a child in different circumstances but it never matters!! There is nothing harder than losing a child. We will never be the same. He is evil 😈 and I pray 🙏 he gets life in prison!!!
