Could you maybe compare this with all about reading? Could you also show just the writing portion and how that works. I’m thinking about doing all about reading and the writing portion of this. Thank you so much these videos are so helpful. I’m new to home schooling and really appreciate your content 😊
Yes, I can for sure do a video just on the writing portion. I do plan to do a comparison of AAR and PAL but I just want to get further in the curriculum before I do that as I want to make sure I give an accurate representation of the curriculum.
One video you mentioned the phonetic format not being reusable. I just wanted to share how I did it. I laminated the stickers instead of taking them off the paper, I cut them, laminate, and place the velcro dots on the folder and back of sticker. I have 6 kiddos so if I can save a bit more money that's great! Still juggling not taking all day on schooling. Do you have any videos on the lost tools of writing curriculum
We will be using the PAL Writing curriculum this year. My girls despise writing and I want an easy, simple and fun curriculum. I want them to enjoy writing because I know I never did while I was in school.
It does not give you a specific list it does suggest a few things you can read with your kids like Aesop's fables but not an extensive list or anything super specific from what I know.
Yes, you 100% can start the writing and reading separately or together. As far as age I would advise a child to know most of their letters and their sounds before beginning this program although that is not a hard-core requirement. IF they don't know that information yet you may just want to go slower. I have tried it with a 6 year old and 7year old and It has gone well. I will be trying it with my 5 year old in the fall and I don't anticipate problems but I will adjust the length of lessons and go a little slower.
The lessons are not intended to be completed in one day. We just set a time for 20-30min depending on the kid and pick up where we left off the next day.
My youngest is mainly doing AAR and we do TGTB!!! My teenager has to look up letter songs on his iPad and when he tells me I ask where’s he’s struggling so we can focus on that!!! My older kids love to mix up phonic instruction!!!

I've felt so alone in using this! So glad to see another person using it!
❤️❤️

That’s a great idea
I chose this curriculum for some of the same reasons as you. I love the fact that there is a focus on comprehension. And the price is awesome!
Agreed

Very interesting... TYFS 🤗💕
You’re welcome
Does it give you recommendations for read alouds and readers?

Homeschool mom with ADHD here! Lol I can totally relate to changing things up. So when you use this, are you not pairing it with AAR?
We will do this and then do AAR after
This was my question too. @lifeinthemundane do you mean after as in you plan to fully complete the PAL curriculum then move to AAR 1?
About what age do you think is best to start at with PAL? Can you start the reading and writing separately or do they need to begin at the same time?

Do you do group lessons or individual? I’m wondering if I do group and just have different expectations for my older
That is what I did this past year. th-cam.com/video/i1Nbs3zMtpQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gg5W-FBpOiemFtfW
How long are you spending on PAL each day?
I’m considering PAL for my youngest for next year, but I’m concerned the time commitment will be too much.
