Anglo-saxons with there never ending propaganda. First with Iraq, now that they didn't find any of Sadaams weapons, they are trying to justify their war by depicting draining a swamp as an intentional plot to destroy rather than use the water for irrigation. Yet the U.S.A and Australia themselves have been draining marshlands for years to make room for agriculture.
Secondly, the Vatican doesn't contain the history of the world, just Roman history, we have Chinese, Russian, Indian histories which they never give equal reverence. I am not even going to mention the historical records they destroyed in Egypt, Mexico and Africa at large. No one outside Europe cares about Vatican propaganda records
This was fascinating to watch. Those mudhif houses are beautiful. Many thanks 60 minutes for replaying these older docs for us all.
That is a true work of art, made greater by the work of the many artists hands, joined together!

yes, & the communion of working together, the stories, the lessons learned..

Thank you 60 minutes , fascinating!
I really like that man. Seems very humble. God Bless him and his people. Hope they all stay safe. From Florida 😊
This is some real, old school journalism. Love it.
It's not 'real old school journalism". It's real journalism.
@TheWinterShadow Well, that's what I said. Notice the comma after "real".
he used the word "genocide"... imagine an american msm journalist using that term today.
@@khamkham7134 some do, in reference in Palestine
Agree!
"Old school way" it is.
Because I don't see no more of '60 minutes' like used to be.
""if you are gonnna dream; dream big. It's free"
👍
It will costs you braveness. 😃
It’s amazing what this man has done with nature.
f Come see me 😘. 48 I'm looking forward to new videos f6
Amazingly terrifying as well.
What these people have done, but his dream turned it into a reality! The dream of an entire peoples. One man can make a difference.
I read about the Marsh Arabs years ago, and what Hussein did to them. I’m glad to hear they are reclaiming their culture and land. Nice reporting. Thanks.
What a lovely story the Iraqi marshlands was. Goes to show you, the American Dream doesn't necessarily fulfill your heart.
Thanks for bringing back these quiet stories.
Indeed, US stole Iraqis' gold.
This was a real treat. Glad it was in my suggested list.
Stunning cinematography, and a lovely theme. Well done
This is beautiful, inspiring and restores faith in people.
Thank you
It's nice to see something positive happening in the world
It was released15 years ago. Looking at Google Maps, the marshes seem to be very small. Unfortunately, that part of the world has been in constant turmoil since this was recorded.
Watching the Vatican library story.. can’t believe that these old manuscripts are being handled with bare hands! This blows my mind!!
It's a copy not original.
This is remarkable and a real glimpse into our earliest times!
This is the kind of man we need all over the world and every country! 😎
Which man?

"Wohhhhhhhhh.
Oh, my god!
That was pretty intense, men!"
One of the best clips 60M ever had.
I remember I saw this video back in time and my heart was pounding!
And even now, I still have same thrilling sensation of conquered spirit which I never done myself.
This is real 60 minutes. And this was the '60 minutes' that I want to see in the future!
Thanks for the reruns.
I love how he said he got the last laugh.... his chuckle was great
Excellent!! Thank you! I wish the part of the Vatican Library were a lot longer.
What a wonderful tale of rebirth! 🙏
Wow Absolutely amazing they got the water back Congratulations 🎉💖. I hope the water keeps coming. Many blessings and prayers.
All the stories are very good. Thank you
This must be what I saw people doing off of Mount Rainier last June!I caught a glimpse of at least one what I thought was some kind of insane base jumper, followed by his buddies skiing down Rainier. I was able to catch a brief video of the parachute portion as it was descending-completely airborne.I had just put my phone away after taking some great pictures of Mount St.Hellens,Mount Adams, and Mount Hood.I ran in to a father and son who were out looking for some rarely seen bird species. The son spotted the daredevils and I only got a brief glimpse of two different people airborne under some type of parafoils.
If anyone knows who these people were, let me know.I would love to see their video footage!
We were standing on Paradise Point in early June last year. It was almost equally as amazing as the natural beauty. Nothing human made can compete with the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest. But seeing these people (and those in this video)is definitely one of the most amazing things I have seen people do.
Why does man destroy everything ?😢
Free will I believe.
@@econtrolablevery deep and sharp at the same time 👍
Too many humans
Good question.
@@user-gk5rg4pq5x that's nonsense. Don't believe it.
Spectacular to say the least! Ty 60 mins
This was pretty fascinating to watch! Thank you.
Love that man's pride. faith & love for his people. I would go there
😊😊.
This is awesome, simple things are a blessing, nature must not be tampered by and males or females , this beautiful world of wonders is created by the divine creator, unity is strength, Home is were the heart is, nuh were no better than yard.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Will these people ever get tired of trashing people even after they die?! Holy F!
-- *_Another excellent broadcast! Thank you, 60 Minutes!_*
Whoever was JT’s plastic surgeon on his cleft lip; they did an amazing job.
Really, that wasn't necessary 🤔🤔🤔
Salute to the envirnoment warrior for rescuing his country
A beautiful world. Watching them glide down the canals through the tall reeds was so lovely. Reminds me a bit of my wanderings through the marshes of my birthplace on the coast of North Carolina. Things of beauty that bind us together as watchful humans are, as he says, more important in many ways than chasing the often elusive and harrowing latter-day 'American Dream', particularly if reaching the dream leaves you feeling somewhat empty, after all. Thanks for making this.
It just wouldn't be 60 minutes without those constant reruns.
"If you want to dream.. dream big, its free"
You're an inspiration. I'm doing this myself soon.
Excellent documentary
Awesome ride dude! Thanks
Always accuse someone else evil doing and never look inward even though the vilest evil exist within you!
Great program I’ve watched for years Thank you for showing our world and happenings thereof😊
It was funny seeing that satellite dish with the marsh people but it’s nice to know that people who want to live without all modern convenience still can!!
All Wash's father was named Car Wash. His grandfather was named Hog Wash. The Wash Dynasty began with a man named Wash, who discovered Water and was the first Marsh Harab to wash himself.
Amazing!
Can't believe I never heard this story until now........very interesting story, well done 60 min
Beautiful!
How many marshlands Americans destroyed keeping native kanaka maoli ( Hawaiian) from growing their main staple KALO , diverting water to grow their horrible sugarcane and pineapple bringing on many health issues of the native peoples of Hawaii ? Watching this my heart is always to the people the innocent people of the land of the water like us the KANAKA MAOLI o ka Pae Āina , us the people of Hawaii nei ! Mass tourism will ruin anywhere. It is like Hawaii.
beautiful story!
Sharing 👏
Thank you for the video! I only have one question, Why has everyone been touching the pages of these old artifacts of books with their hands which holds oils in their fingertips that can do damage to the paper of the books?
Thanks from thailand, in peace!
I loved what he said, Passion doe his past. I love this! Simplicity.
Awesome
Thanķ ýou for this wideo. How else would we know about the Reeds people. What all Sadam Hussain has destroyed.
Have you investigated HAARP in Alaska. Thats the first thing that should be understood and then you will understand the warming effect on this planet.
You're doing an exceptional job thanks for your work! And God bless that Chinese immigrant lady I hope she gets Elected to Congress!
Oh my gosh! How fantastic! The Mufti people and their home is so interesting! I love their architecture, their way of life. I can’t imagine someone wanting to exterminate these people and their way of life!
I think we found the new James Bond
I was there.i experience this war of the golf. In Kuwait, me and my husband he is still alive that time,
VERY NICE
Very interesting
The most interesting places on earth all point towards Antarctica
Wow!
I like the story about restoring the Marsh. Fixing the wrongs that have been done. :)
Does acquiring those samples that core through hundreds of feet of ice create a bigger problem ie. friction as the water rushes to the surface creating more fissures in the ice and more areas of weakness in the ice scape?
Your four hour helicopter ride contributed more to climate change than I will in my entire lifetime.
Isn't it pitch dark in January? I come from the Arctic Circle in Sweden and we don't have much sunlight that time of year.
It was only flying over Iraq and the surrounding countries on my way from India to London that I saw how much more there is to the land than the desert we are used to seeing. It took me a while to work out where heck I was, confused by unexpected landscapes.
Man's said he's not a adrenaline drunkie, I prefer adrenaline enthusiasts........woooooooooow this fellow is something else
What if decades of everyone drilling core samples has played a role in weakening the structure? What if it exacerbates the process?
Not as bad as punching holes in the atmosphere.
The scientists doing the coring are the experts on ice strucures, in regard to tension and compression effects on the icebergs and glaciers. I have no doubt they've considered every cause and effect of their actions.
Totally badass
The Mosul Dam (Arabic: سد الموصل), formerly known as the Saddam Dam (سد سدام), is the largest dam in Iraq. It is located on the Tigris River in the western province of Nineveh, upstream from the city of Mosul. The dam serves to produce hydroelectric power and provides water for downstream irrigation. At full capacity, the structure holds about 11.1 cubic kilometers (2.7 cu mi) of water and supplies electricity to Mosul's 1.7 million residents.
Thank you! Another point of view is also necessary. This man seems like he is very good at making a profit and swaying public opinion. Oil has been discovered here tells me all I need to know.
Genocide is OK if you get electricity out of ir? GTFOHWTBS!
Wow 😮
Great show
what amazes me is that looking at the people touching and working to restore the treasured works of the library aren't wearing gloves at all ?? what's up ?
It's mentioned that they were only allowed to examine replicas.
@@lp88088 thank you I didn't hear that part
HOW ABOUT THEY START RELEASING THE KNOWLEDGE TO THE PUBLIC SO WE CAN BE TOLD THE TRUTH HOW ABOUT THE END ALL THE LIES THAT THEY'VE BEEN FEEDING US
the peterman glacier was fasinating
Ice density and water density. The ice below water level displaces water and is less dense. The ice above water level finds its equilibrium. The ice melt is a zero sum game.
That explains why some parts of the desert grass is growing
This is the first time I have heard of this.
17:00 I'm sure drilling holes through the glacier will help it.
Sweet
How ironic they're worried about the ice shelf dissappearing but they destroy the ice shelf with their ice breaker ship😂
I think they can build floating vegetable garden like they have in Bangladesh for hundreds of years.
We can use this as an example that we can make life out of anything we really want too. Money is just a lever in which we use to do right or to do wrong. Use it wisely and everything in life will flourish the lands shall be free once again..
I think I saw this program a few years ago

Just the opening statement was such a clear backpedal.
In the beginning of this video, The buffalos are gaurs, are they?
@14:05, the dogs are Greenland or Eskimo dogs, not huskies. Huskies originated from Siberia. Eskimo dogs are native to Greenland. At least, they were separated many thousand years ago.
I love this documentary, I guess Iraq can be beautiful.. unfortunately we've lost many American soldiers there 😢
Hard to believe anything reporting during this era.
More scary is WM’s monopoly extending from US to CA! Why is there mostly only ONE waste company from FL to calgary. Hmmmmm
Have to leave nature alone It’s designed to take care of it’s self please protect it😊
Republicans at the time didn't really want the cease fire and they wanted to stop this
but the left was quite upset and vocal with their "No Blood for Oil" message.
All of this happened because in 1991 American forces were stopped from going to
the Iraqi capital and getting Saddam. It is a lesson writ large about partial responses
in military operations - always go for total victory.
US killed Saddam and now Iraq is Iranian province. That is exactly why he was killed.
A engineering feat. Punch a hole through the barrier. Amazing the engineer thought of that.
That's not so much a statement of infinite wisdom in engineering as it is a statement of Sadam's weakness in design intent....easily restructured.
Sad thing is, all the most beautiful, interesting places on earth are being destroyed by anthropogenic mass extinction--us.
