Uconn blew this game. How do you blow a 15point lead and then people wanna complain about a call the refs made that was a good call because it was a moving screen.
STFU! The ref made a bad call in crunch time.
Yeah, and Iowa had a 10 point lead with 4 minutes left and almost blew it. That Uconn offensive foul was the right call, that gal was moving her feet and she threw her forearm and elbow out and clocked Gabby Marshall.
That was not a moving Screen. Bad Call! Allow the players to decide the game!!!
Iowa disfigured them out made adjustments at halftime didn't turn the ball over increase shooting percentage and came close to dominating
@@HighFrequencyRadio But it was a moving screen. Videos at multiple angles show that it was a very obvious moving screen.
I watched edwards picks the whole game....she was crushing marshall clean....this last one was REALLY sloppy...had to call it
STFU! That's BS and you know it! The ref made a bad call in crunch time.
Stevie Wonder could've seen that foul. Sheesh.
0:53 Martin with that clutch clutch clutch play omg like its not even just Clark. The whole team is better. This is a friggin team! Win it!
Its never 1 player, reese has a better team and still lost tho
@@MAITREESEE023 ?
Kate Martin SAVED THAT GAME, period, END OF STORY.
My gamecocks though🤷🏽♂️
@@iknowwhoiamnow Her fade away jumper - wow!

What’s that guys name that’s playing ? Clark right ?
@@NfliswweKate Martin
there is NO doubt that Edwards set a moving screen on Marshall, it got called. I credit players on both teams for saying one call either way doesn't decided a game.
It was a good call. Edwards knows she set an illegal screen and you could tell she knew by her facial expression. Then during her post game conference she had the nerve she thought it was a clean screen her knowing it wasn't makes he nothing but a big liar and crybaby. I hate sore losers
@@garygettler2997 Even the announcer said she kinda leaned (edit: "was barely leaning") into her around 5:17, then she saw it in the replay and said, "OOF" 🤣
@@fibonacho there was no kind of about, she pushed off with both arms.
@@garygettler2997 I agree. I updated my original comment to be clearer.
Heads up play by Clark on the inbound 💯
It wasn't barely leaning it was a pretty hard foul.
I actually thought the refs did a pretty good job overall. Am I the only one?
STFU! That's BS and you know it! The ref made a bad call in crunch time.
I agree with the foul on that screen. Throwing an elbow out after the defender already established position is a foul.
Refs just can't win with the final call tbh. If it's not called, Iowa/CC fans are gonna be pissed, but because they did make the call, then UConn fans/CC haters are pissed and it was just made worse with ppl like Lebron saying they didn't like the call. I didn't watch the game so I can't say anything about the quality of reffing, but that final call was correct.
That was also a gutsy call to make in that situation! To be an official at this level requires you to be a soldier.
They did. Problem is, they waited until this crucial moment to make a call they haven’t been making all game. Blatant fixing for Iowa.
As an official myself, I didn’t like the commentator’s choice of wording when he said that offensive foul “prevented” UConn from getting a game-winning shot. To me, the phrasing implies the refs blew the call.
In my opinion that phrasing does not imply it was a bad call.
If they had said-"that offensive foul "CALL" prevented a chance at a shot " I would agree .
Wouldn't want yer jerb.
An official at a Minnesota Vikings' playoff game was hit in the head by a whiskey bottle for not calling offensive pass interference on the very first Hail Mary pass.
We have been cursed ever since, justifiably so. Ever since I never question officials. Feel kinda bad disagreeing with you.
Oddly, that official's name is Armen Tanzarian which was revealed to be the real name of principal Skinner of The Simpsons.
@@bw5970 I actually appreciate your reply. Thank you.
I just don't get it. Why are people complaining about fouls that were CORRECTLY called?
The only people crying are
ESPN, who's based in CT
Their announcer, who played for UConn
Most don't get the rules.
because people are dumb
Because they wanted the team who got the foul called on them to win the game. It's really not more complicated than that.
Espn/sec is now official rivals with the B10. It's now Iowa vs south carolina.
Edwards call was the correct call. People are complaining the refs decided the game by calling the foul. I say if they didn't blow the whistle, they would have decided the game. If fouls aren't called the last minutes of the game, they should make it a rule.
Apparently rebounding ain’t important with 9 seconds left at the stripe. Out rebounding them all game and give the a offensive rebound with 9 seconds left to a girl that’s six foot come on
True, Scott, but that thing hit the steel and bounced back so quickly, it was over the UConn players' heads before they could react.
I do not have a dog in the fight, but the screener pushed her arms/elbows out. It was a good call, but horrible in that situation.
Watch the full replay where you can see her feet. The elbow was only half of it. It was illegal all day long.
It was a good call, just because there's barley any time left means nothing
@@justsomeonehere884 I think he means because of the little time left on the clock and causing a turnover.
"in that situation" isnt a part of the rule book. it was a foul. it should have been called
@bigd3046 a foul is a foul, can't expect a miracle shot every Game
Why did none of the UConn players try to jump for the rebound on the missed free throw? Like? Hello?
because the fix was in lol
Middle School rules say you can’t jump after a free throw! 🥱 🥱🥱
@@midwestent.7010 Really? Who fixed it?
Not jumping was crazy..
It’s an overlooked part of the game evidently
It's amazing what people will pretend they don't see to hate Caitlin Clark. That was a full forearm shiver moving screen. Most refs don't call it there, but it was a blatant offensive foul.
Gabby worked it. She's a #23 ing genius defender, yet again proven.
Refs have to be consistent: they didnt call those kinda screen all game long they shouldnt call it in the game winner
Iowa got the refs on their side 😮.
Call had to be made. You don't get to bring the elbow out on a screen whether there's 5 seconds left or 15 minutes. They were desperate to get Bueckers open and had to do something because Marshall was on her like glue all night. Iowa haters will see what they want to see. It's easier to blame the refs than admit Iowa was the better team.
@@slocumb1270 Terrible Call, that's a 50 50 call, and in that moment you don't make that call period.
You can set an illegal screen, but you do it by shuffling your feet, not by extending your arms! That just makes it an easy call for the ref. Rookie error!
STFU! That's BS and you know it! The ref made a bad call in crunch time.
So says Captain TH-cam.
@@Leo82870 So says anyone that doesn't know the rules of basketball. Tough to call a person quoting the rules and how screens have to be set as ignorant when they are factual. Is the person ignorant or just true facts ignorant??
@@1chrisford lol, no need to type a dissertation. Hopefully, the refs don't strategically make phantom calls.
@@Leo82870 corny
I have watched this play 15 to 20 times. It was, by the rules, a moving screen. That is a foul. It does not matter when it was called, it was illegal. And by the way, I bet on UConn.
Well I guess that settles it since YOU watched it and bet on Connecticut.
Facts are facts, moving screens are NOT legal, and she fouled her, what don’t you understand about that @leo82870
Lol keep telling yourself that refs don't impact the game.
@@Leo82870 No one said the refs don't impact the game. But on that call with like 9 seconds left, they got the right call... IDK how you can even argue against that call...
@@yolowolf24 do you honestly believe id Clark set that pick, the refs would have made that call?
That foul was so.obvious. what r people even debating here?
For some it wasn't a foul. For others it was obviously a foul but surprising the refs called it. Refs normally don’t call those sorts of things so late in the game.
STFU! That's BS and you know it! The ref made a bad call in crunch time.
@@davidreyes3030it was obvious . Did you see the UConn coach complain he knew it was a foul. You have to call something so obvious, there is one to say let them play, but if both of them are being the aggressors and borderline fouling, but this could have caused Iowa the fans because by pushing her it takes her out of the play advantage UConn. The foul had to be called .
Love that people are actually arguing that one of the worst moving screens you'll ever see shouldn't be called a foul
that was an illegal screen regardless of favorites bias, correct call yall stop that cryin gang😂
True, but I’ve seen a lot worse go uncalled, especially in that situation.
@@enigmoxicalso if Paige gets fouled later by a defender that should have been a no-call and no free throws right?
Bad call but good game 🤔
Why was UConn trying to do so much on that last play? Iowa didn't even contest the inbound pass in the backcourt. It was a convoluted play focused on getting a jump shot when it should have been about driving to the basket.
UCONN was gassed and in foul trouble. They had a better chance of hitting a three than they did of making a bunny and then winning in OT.
UCONN fan. I could've get the game live out of the country. I heard about the foul at the end and finally saw the replay on this video. It was a foul unless they eere letting that go all game. Without seeing the rest of the game i think it was a good call and unfortunately an unnecessary foul. Bueckers didn't need it to get a decent shot off.
The look on Geno’s face towards the end of the game was priceless.
Caitlyn Clark actually made me watch women’s basketball unironically. She’s THAT GOOD
That's why I watch elite boys high-school basketball. Although the quality of that is better than Clark.
Ironically she’s” a man 😂
The last 2 plays by Iowa in the last 2 seconds were smart
What I hated the most was the play call by Geno on the last possession. The ball needs to go to Paige right from the inbound pass. She has to have the ball in her hands.
I'm not a fan of either team, but the fowl at the last seconds had to be called. It prevented the defensive player the right to guard the shooter. Flip it around. Its unfair to Iowa to allow the shooter in closing seconds to have a clean, clear view shot due to the defender being elbowed out of the way.
Exactly this! People saying just let the girls play, there’s a reason that’s always going to be called a foul by 100/100 competent refs! People don’t understand who havent been there how crucial that dirty shoulder push into the defender is to get your shooter an open clean shot for those extra few seconds. People saying it ruined the game , but the illegal screen would have ruined the game as well. Either way it would have been quote on quote”unfair”
@@taylorberg12Clearly you didn't watch the game and just responding. People are complaining about the inconsistencies with officiating. We all saw fouls that were made in the presence of the refs that were ignored by both teams. Either let the girls play with calls, or without calls. Be consistent
@@springtime3694so that’s an issue with consistency, which is fine. But that’s not what ppl are saying. They’re saying it’s not a foul and the game was rigged, which is false.
I mean they didn’t call the travel on the play that got UConn to 64.
This is a beautiful video from Gardening with Kirk
She was moving correct call
Referee here .I don’t know why anyone would be &itching about the offensive foul there at the end . I initially thought maybe it wasn’t appropriate because it was possibly the last play of the game so “ let them play” but it was an obvious foul that should be called WHENEVER it happened in the game , beginning , middle or even last play .
its a moving screen. Definitely a foul. Its just a culture thing, in the nba they call the last 2minutes "a mans time", where these types of fouls (minor moving screens, travels, reaching etc) are not called. Its just sad it had to end that way on the last possession.
Are you sure that you're a referee? 🤔
If you're a referee you should know that an illegal screen or some other type of foul can be called on every play. Michael Jordan could have been called for a push-off in the 1998 Finals. No real fan of basketball wants to see a ticky-tack foul decide a game.
@@juandixonformvpRussell could have been called for fouling Micheal before the push off😂
It's the inconsistencies of the officiating that bothers me. There were fouls that were made in the presence of the refs that were ignored on both sides of the ball during the game. Bad officiating takes away from the game.
UConn blew a huge lead. They were their own worst enemy.
Edward’s barely leaning? Dang she almost knocked her to the floor, crushing mistakenly by Goldie Lockes. Iowa played smarter in this game. No wonder UConn Coach was having a meltdown. He knew mental mistakes cost them this game.
The angle looking from the basket masked the foul. The angle from the side showed the movement and foot placement an obvious moving screen. Announcers did a poor job of looking at the replays.
That's a clean call she moves in the way of the defense..that's offensive foul..

Like a lot of people I had grown tired of UConn during the late 90s/early 2000s. But now that its been a few years since the won a title and the fact that I like Paige I wouldn't mind one bit seeing them cut down the nets next year. I think it would be good for basketball for the old giant to return to the top.

It was a moving screen, good call.
Kate Martin is tough as nails, and came through huge in the end. Stuelky and Gabbie Marshall came through as well. Even if you hold Caitlin to just 20 points, the rest of the team finds a way to come through. Uconn is a very very good team as well. Great game all around
She bumped her, it was the right call.
Sorry, but that was a blatant foul on the pick.
Feet not set, upper body moving, forearm extended. What's the controversy here?
Where was the call when Clark pushed off?
@@daniellewis5474 I did not see it and maybe Clark got away with something on the play you refer to. But the play in that video - no question the right call was made.
This is what I don't get about this era of basketball, be it college or pro, if the best player on the team, either one, are going to have the ball the majority of the time, why not guard that player 94 ft and deny them the ball all over the court. I remember when defense used to be played that way.
You would tire out running up the court like that think how many possessions each team has in just two minutes
I might actually watch finals. First time I'm interested in women's basketball. Reese and Clark did a great job bringing some entertainment
What would have been better would be Clark getting the ball off of Bueckers on the inbounce
I can't imagine how coach Geno felt! The head bob n look at 525 was priceless 😢. All in all, it was a very exciting game. If Iowa gets a golden horse 🐎 shoe, they might beat South Carolina Gamecocks That's a big might! 🎉❤..
USC?
Kate Martin saved Iowa's ass last night. Damn.
Hannah's 29 points is what saved Iowa from elimination since Clark was trash in the first half and kept turning the ball over
At 0.3 sec left, on your side of the court and your team leading, I'll just hand the ball over to the defender! 😁😁
I think the leaning motion is why the call was made, good,. or bad, that's what I see.
I didn't see the game live, but I heard all the hype about the final foul. Saw the video above. Clearly an illegal screen. UConn, you had a great season. Well done. But that was a fair call.
clearly a moving screen
Might be Iowa's first TITLE or sweet revenge for SC...Notice that upsets are real.😂
Liked like a foul on the screen to me. Like what b we used to call a "forearm shiver" in football.
And there was another against Marshall the play or two before as well that led to a layup. I think if her feet weren't so far apart it might not have been called.
Iowa fan but I like PB too and Nika Muhl is a great defender if not the best
❤ Ms.Marshall
Can we talk about Muhl’s box out on that free throw? What was that?!
IA will outplay, outscore, out 3, out smart, out wait you 100 diff ways.
When you wear an OUTRAGEOUSLY BRIGHT hairdo…you’ll ALWAYS get noticed BY the REFS!
When your big and you lay picks against small players , keep your elbows in because your going to hit your opponents face, and there going to call it eventually throughout the game.
It was a moving pick. Good call.
A foul is a foul regardless of the time remaining. That definitely was a foul, no doubt it.
Paige also missed a wide open 3 badly, i thought for sure she was gonna hit that. Uconn had so many chances
It's clearly a foul.
To those who
"Cry RIGGED" If they let Uconn score on an obvious foul, it would be RIGGED
Those who say, "Don't call that with close games. Let them play"
Part of the game is the rules from the time game starts to the end.
I get it was a buzz kill. But it was the right call.
Girl flopped
LET THEM PLAY!
Thank you! I’m constantly having this argument with friends/family. Everyone says the refs shouldn’t make calls at the end of an important game so they don’t influence who wins. But I say if they don’t make those calls then they ARE deciding who wins. And that was the correct call
Bad call. Phantom whistle
Naw that was bogus ass call hard set screen that was a weak ass call period
Way more competitive and better product than The League Formerly Known As The NBA.
I really don't understand the controversy. I thought it was clearly a moving screen.
Not sure what paige was on in that 3rd and 4th quarter. She wasn't even trying to shoot
Barely leaning? What is Rebecca Lobo talking about? Edwards used her elbow with force and wasnt set. It was totally a foul! It doesnt matter if it is the first or final 3 seconds of the game.
There were at least 10 other calls that the refs didn't make on either side in the entire game, but they called that with 3sec. Ieft , let the girls decide the outcome ref.

What are you talking about bro 😂. That was a good call by the refs, I don’t want Iowa to lose just because the refs didn’t want to call a foul
UCONN had 4 free throws all game. IOWA had 12 in the second half alone. not to mention the only time an offensive foul was called all game being in the biggest moment of the night. shits rigged to keep views up cause people are only watch caitlin and they were getting absolutely cooked before the refs stepped in in the 2nd half
a foul is a foul...here's a tissue

That was so obvious. Edwards stepped into her then blew her up with her shoulder.

50/50 call by the ref. Tough call. The screener had her feet set but her arms were still moving towards the defender. I don't think the offensive foul should have been called, but congrats to Iowa. They earned it.
Her left foot moves the second before the contact. She is moving and extends her arms because she was going to miss the screen. Its always like this when the last second penalty is called, but for once its the right damn call..
her feet weren't set, legs extended outside the frame, hip check, plus arms moving into defender. A few different angles floating around twitter and its so egregious it would have been a worse controversy if they hadn't called it. would've let to a layup

Great call by ref at the end. Edwards made a stupid foul, that is what we should be talking about. UConn fans before the game were like, Paige gonna dominate. Now they are just crying.
It was a foul. It was as much Paige's fault as Edwards. Paige should've rubbed Edwards within a foot of her. Instead, Paige is 3-4 feet away from Edwards making it so Edwards had to move into Marshall for the screen.
