Nice. This is the first time I had my hands on one of these. I hope someday to play with more similar. I think the double fence post would be advantageous.
I never met a vintage tool I didn’t like……even if a particular tool leaves much to be desired, I enjoy owning and trying out the lesser pieces as part of the ever evolving tool journey!
I'd like to have a 043 or 044. But I already have a few others. :) I have two Stanley 248s which I think do very well for just cutting simple grooves. I also have a Veritas plow so... I really don't ***_NEED_*** a record, but that may not stop me from buying one.
I have a Record 043 with a smaller (3/16) tapered blade. I’m looking for a 1/4 non tapered blade, thanks for the vid.
Thank you for sharing Chester i always enjoy your videos
I have 54. No spurs. Dying to find a set of 50 cutters. Only came with 2. Nice video
Thank you.
Great video! I would love to see a video about your Stanley 46
Thank you. I’m working on one now. It takes time.
I have an original 043 and definately approve of it for smaller groves. Also have the 044 and I find it more fiddly but also functional.

I have used the Stanley 45 even made a little video of using it

Record made a plane similar to the stanley no 50 as a bench joiner of 40 plus years and have many planes all are a pleasure to use
Nice little plane.
Let's see your 46 in action.
I prefer to use a thinner cut and make more effortless passes. 43 I find nice to use than the 50.

The Stanley is perhaps comparable to the Record 050 Combination Plane.
