A leadoff tank is so demoralizing to a team and especially a pitcher that I would argue that tho he might not get on base a lot he is very valuable at that leadoff spot because if he hits a tank first AB then it’s a gut punch to the opposing team and they’re already down mentally
@@mbrum3230 I’m a pitcher and my team has had leadoff homers hit against us. Thankfully not off of me but when it happens the dugout and everybody on the field is thinking “Well fuck this is gonna be an ass kicking”
You get walked more in that position too. Plus lead off gets you to the plate more times per season. The batting order only really matters for the first trip through it. The second, third, and Forth (which is the obvious majority of your at bats) is completely random when you'll be coming up relative to hitters in front of you. Hence why we've also seen stints of Ohtani, and Judge as lead off hitters too.
@@KolossusB but if you're hitting 4th you're more likely to be hitting behind a good hitter who has a good chance of getting on base. If you're hitting 1st you're and you're in your second, third or fourth AB, you're hitting after the 9 hitter who is probably one of the worst hitters. Also Kyle schwarber is slow and you typically want a fast hitter at leadoff.
@eag536 Disagree. He constantly has the bottom of the lineup in front of him and leads off with nobody on base. Even if his home run numbers decreased by 5-10, he'd still have more RBI and production. It's ludicrous.
@@RD24LFG Wouldn’t have more production with RBIs and runs because he’d be pitched differently to my point earlier. And the Phillies tried in 2022 and 2023. Didn’t work.
Kyle Schwarber is the Barry Bonds of Joey Gallos
True, very true
This is correct
😂😂😂😂 perfect 👌
Over 7 minutes of 1 dude hitting leadoff homeruns....😂😂😂
Possibly the most beautiful video I have ever watched
@bogey8370 thanks!
No one else has 7.5 minutes of lead-off HRs.
He is only 8th all time....and Ricky had almost double the amount

Who cares, against the Mets and the Dbacks he hit a leadoff hr and they lost both of those series.
The comments show how many people are still stuck in a 2010 mindset of how to build a line up. No one I would rather have leading off.
37 HRs for all.
