    Don't have a TV in the van but have used the phone as a bridge for laptop (think that was the term) Mrs K is the mobile comms expert in our gaff😂😂. Interesting vlog David but not one for us as I like to disappear when we are away. Are you guys at Whitby this weekend, if so have a great time. Cheers K.

      Fair enough, like you say it saves messing on if you don’t use it. Nice to have a break sometimes isn’t it - yes we went to Whitby today but sadly the camping went down the pan as field was waterlogged so closed which was a shame. Enjoyed it though - hopefully next year weather will be kinder! Thanks for the comment, all the best, David 👍

    Could you paste a link to the fitting of your original aerial for Wi-Fi, please also you mentioned in the list of items that use your Wi-Fi along with the television et cetera, I didn’t quite catch the name? Thanks

      Thanks for the comment, I bought the 4G/5G aerial before I got the campervan and the dealer I got it from kindly installed it for me (drilled the roof etc) while I was waiting for the van to be registered and then have been using the 4G router for the past 18 months or so, hence more of a speed upgrade to 5G. The things we use are CCTV system on Wifi, Cerbo GX (will have a video on that soon also the CCTV) and it also connects to the sat nav at the front (Avtex Tourer 2) other than that phone, laptop and iPad type things. Hope that helps, sorry there's not a fitting for the aerial. all the best, David 👍

    Do you already have an arial fitted to the roof ?

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I bought the 4G/5G aerial before I bought the van and had it fitted through the roof so this was more of a router upgrade than aerial install but when I got the aerial I went for the 5G for future proofing if that makes sense. All the best, David 👍

    Thanks for the good info package. I have a touring car being finished and then I can try the internet connections. I bought a ZTE small white USB router of the same brand. It has worked so far. It is also planned to buy an additional antenna for the roof. Early winter greetings from Helsinki 🇫🇮 🍁❄

    Nice job David, I’ve decided to stick with a Netgear M1 & Poynting antenna, they are just such a good combination in our cv20.
    I will be running a 12v supply up to the router like you have done though, it’s a pain having to remember to switch to a power bank while on the move! 👍

      No worries, I'm in the process of doing a further upgrade as have added some more things so looking for some more options but this router has been pretty good, only comment is watch the TS9 aerial ports as they were a bit fragile on mine (this may not be the case across) and if you unplug / plug it a fair few times I found sometimes it didn't have a good connection - they may be my particular one and I removed it and put it back a few times when trying things out. Think it's a general TS9 connector being fragile issue (and prob me being cac-handed) but just for awareness. I'm upgrading to the Spitz AX3000 with the SMA connectors for ref, video on that out soon. This one isn't a bad little router though still and some bargains to be had if you search around :) - all the very best, David 👍

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do come in handy and saves the faff, you can spend a fortune - I bought the aerial (MiFi aerial) separately and had it fitted then you just need power and a router as it came in much cheaper than the package ones - the 4G one I have has been grand just fancied a bit more speed 😀
      Thanks for the comment -
      All the best, David 👍

    • @LeisureBit

      I bought it 4 years ago, it’s a 5G ready one as there was a couple of options at the time so went for that. If I was going to buy one today, I would look for a more up to date one but am happy with what I installed but believe you can get slightly higher gain now. All the best, David 👍

  • @Anthonya54
    @Anthonya54 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi David,
    You mentioned that you have a Cerbo GX installed. I'm thinking of installing one so I have a few questions if you don't mind.
    Do you keep it permanently switched on and if so how much does it take from the battery.
    How many connections/type do you have to it. Are you using VE.Direct to USB cables.
    Do you have a Touch 50 attached

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No problem - I have been keeping it permanently switched on so it allows the remote access - so this includes the Cerbo GX and the Router. It's consuming between 8W-12W (average 8-9W) so let's say it's using just under an amp per hour. So you do see the battery drain down especially if there's not much solar. It got me thinking about adding additional solar to off-set the drain. However, easy enough just to recharge the leisure battery periodically. Clearly if you just had say 100Ah of available battery capacity you would be lucky to get 5 days before it is flat. At the moment I'm part way through connecting it all up so it's kind of temporarily installed - I have the Touch 50 attached and also VE Direct to the Solar controller and to the Smart Shunt. I have a couple of RUUVI temperature and humidity / motion sensors connected via bluetooth and also have a couple of temperature sensors connected to the Cerbo GX temperature port. I'm going to connect to the gas gauge and then add water and waste level sensors too. (on the to-do list) and then install it more permanently.
      Hope that makes sense, all the best, David

    • @Anthonya54
      @Anthonya54 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LeisureBit that's what the data sheet for the Cerbo says but good to get confirmation of real life experience. I'm thinking that I will put a switch on the Cerbo input so that I can turn it off when not using the motorhome (not too bothered with remote access). I shouldn't have a problem though as I have 460Ah LiFePo4 installed but good to have the flexibility. Are you planning on making a video of the Cerbo install as I think it would be very useful. I really enjoy viewing you videos. Thx. Andrew

      I checked and on removing power to the USB the device stays on until the battery in it is depleted - if you remove the battery it just shows an empty battery on the screen - there is a power switch on the top of it near the aerial connection. Not sure if that helps?

      I think because it’s got quite a few features such as recording data usage the battery will be required for a controlled shutdown to avoid corrupting the memory on it - it seems to switch back on when you power it up when I tried after the battery has run down and shut off - it’s doing similar to the old one I had when it was connected to the campervan power (switched essentially) but now I have it on all the time
